Madieu Williams possibly out 6 weeks? (1 Viewer)

Just saw this in the Strib. Nothing definitive here, but something to keep an eye on. Certainly bumps Tyrell Johnson's value if the injury is significant.

Can Johnson produce while Williams is out? Does he have the talent to hold on to the job if he plays well?
Yes. No.
Whoa whoa whoa. Maybe it's just an unfair question, because Madieu is a dang fine safety, and a rook would have to have the talent of a Sean Taylor or LaRon Landry to displace him in their first year, but your short response does not give due to Johnson's talent. He might not be able to displace one of the top free agent safeties, but he's destined to eventually start and he's got the athleticism and aggressive mentality to be a good DB in both fantasy and NFL terms. I for one am excited to see what the kid can do thrown into the fire, because he had his best games against the two UT's last year when his Arkansas State team (also Tarvaris's school :excited: ) was completely outgunned.

I assume Johnson was drafted as the heir apparent to Sharper. You give this Johnson kid a chance, he may never look back. His coverage ability will most likely make or break him, in terms of replacing Williams, once Madieu gets healthy. Anyone hear anymore on exactly what type of neck injury Williams suffered? It may be a longshot, but stranger things have happened. Stay tuned ... :brush:

Wait. You think that the Vikings would start Johnson over a healthy Madieu Williams this year?Johnson was the guy I wanted the Vikes to draft and was obviously pleased when they did so. But he's not going to start over Williams this year.

Wasn't Johnson being groomed for SS anyway, before the injury?

so is T Johnson starting week one... FS or SS.I haven't seen any updates for this in quite a while.
Nothing definitive coming out of Vikings land, but if you want my homer guess I'd say that Johnson starts at free and Sharper starts at strong. There has been no word as to when Williams will be back.
