Trump supporters before November 2016: "I'm voting for him because I want to make liberals mad."

Trump supporters after November 2016: "Why are liberals mad?"

I don't condone violence. Nobody should get beaten or tricked into eating feces or anything like that because they wear a MAGA hat. Two wrongs don't make a right. But the feigned surprise at the anger you intentionally caused by your own admission is really something else.

Perhaps MAGA hat wearers should start packing?  I wonder how surprised these guys would have been when he pulls out a pistol and says, "got something to say?".
I don't know why gun owners get a bad rap. You all are clearly the responsible, safety-first guardians of liberty you claim to be.

The word for it is disingenuous.

Throwing everyone into the same hat here. No politician's supporters are a monolith.
That's fair, I'll try to tweak my word choice in the future on this, and I appreciate you pointed it out. But it was a very common refrain. Especially around here- in the "early days" we frequently asked Trump supporters to explain their support and this was the most frequent response IIRC. As time went on the refrain about "owning the libs" was so common that the left actually started to parody it.  So I think the stereotype was on fairly solid footing.  Still, I'll be more accurate next time.

Incidentally the other most common answer to why people supported Trump was that he was independent and self-funded and thus not beholden to special interests, along with related "drain the swamp" answer.  I don't have a point about that, I just think it's hilarious given what's happened since.

I’m 100% sure that there are more than two people in this country that jump innocent victims and beat the crap out of them for reasons as petty as the type of clothes they wear.

If one of those innocent victims happened to be carrying a gun I would not have an issue with them using it.
Ah, so he was actually referring to anyone who jumps someone based on their attire.  Not specifically to people who have a negative reaction to other people wearing MAGA hats/clothing, even though responses to MAGA hats/clothing is the subject of the thread and the post came soon after the incident with the two guys in MD.

OK.

OK.
One is a subset of the other.  I’m not sure it matters.  I don’t have an issue with either.
