Malcolm Jenkins the new Sharper? (1 Viewer)

A post from Rotoworld... The Saints will use FS Malcolm Jenkins as a deep, true center-field safety, lining up several yards downfield.

Analysis: The idea is to have Jenkins in a "bend but don't break" position, where he can "scan the field and watch plays develop." It will allow Tracy Porter and Jabari Greer to play tighter press coverage, but won't lend for much IDP value.

Isn't this the type of position "center-field" Sharper played when he had an insane year last year?? Jenkins is a hardnoser who likes to mix it up and be in on tackles and has the big play ability and coverage skills to get picks. Will this scheme make that much of a difference to "not lend for much IDP value"??? I was counting on him being the new stud of the defense this year. Thoughts??

Jene??

Jenkins makes for a nice play in big play leagues with deeper lineups or in CB-required leagues where you can get his safety stats at corner. He'll be inconsistent due to how the Saints will use him, but like Sharper, should still have some nice games because the tackle competition at OLB and CB in run support is fairly weak as well as the above-average number of passing attempts the Saints are likely to face this year.

I wouldn't expect 9 interceptions like Sharper had, but he's a much better tackler and takes better angles than Sharper, so he'll probably be more consistent week-to-week.
