Malcom Floyd, is this typical of his production this year? (1 Viewer)

I wasn't able to watch the game last night so I'm not sure if he just wasn't targeted much or if he had a poor game. If someone could give me some insight as to what you saw last night it would be appreciated. I know Gates is going to be the first option but I had hoped that Floyd will fill the V. Jackson role. I also know that it is week one and things change but Mark Clayton is sitting on the wavier wire and I was thinking of trying to get him but need to drop someone.

Bad weather, ambush by KC at home, fluke broken coverage long TD to Naanee, etc.

I have Floyd and started to think about dropping him last night.

But then he came on a bit and the Chargers looked to him twice in the end zone at the end of the game.

He did have some drops though.

The passing game just seems too prolific to give up on him yet, for me, but I am hoping for better results. I won't drop him but may bench him and/or watch for better results,

I have him as well, but I wouldnt drop him yet, like you said they have too much of a good passing game.He had a total of 12 targets, including 3 in the 4 goalline plays, so lets see.

he was also targeted 2x on the drive to the goaline ... one grab he had very nice YAC ... I wouldn't worry too much

You actually thought about droping Floyd over a few plays, then changed your mind after a couple of plays where he looked good? Talk about the need for instant gratification.

Team-leading 12 targets.. If you watched the game, Rivers was struggling with the rain/wet ball. There were a couple of bad underthrows where Floyd was open and Rivers skipped the ball to him.. one deep post where Rivers overthrew it and left Floyd out to get blasted by a safety.. Ugly game overall, but I think it's clear Rivers looked Floyd's way a lot, particularly in the redzone... imo

They went to him on all three of the passing plays from the 4 yard line.

One of them was definitely intended for Buster Davis but he slipped if anyone cares.

I never understood the fascination with Floyd. He does not have the talent that VJax has; so to assume he will produce like VJax is an incorrect projection, in my humble opinion. I expect SD to spread the ball around between FLoyd, Nanee, Gates, Sproles, Matthews and Buster Davis. Gates is the only one worth getting other than Matthews and Rivers of course on that O.

This was actually intended for Buster Davis, who slipped and Floyd so happened to be a few yards behind him.

I can't and wouldn't drop before the end of a game. However, I wasn't sure whether he or Naanee would be the primary WR when I drafted him, and I was regretting not also drafting Naanee (because I had considered it but did not).

No catches for Floyd until the 3rd quarter.

By the time Naanee caught his long TD (his 4th catch on 6 targets), Floyd had gotten 6 targets but had only 1 catch and he only had 2 targets in the 1st half, no catches. If that had continued, yeah dropping him would have been a possibility.

Thanks for the insight! Sounds like on a better weather night, or better throws by Rivers, Floyd could have had a good night.

I think the rain affected Floyd more than anything, some of Rivers' throws to him were way off. In dry weather, he catches at least 2-3 more of his targets.

You can't argue with a guy getting 12 targets including the final 2 of the game.
