Mama duck and paddling of baby ducks cross the freeway... oh noes! (1 Viewer)

Holy #### that's awesome! I love that video. Now if people could just learn to be that nice to people.

I don't agree with the trooper who said a driver could face criminal charges if an accident resulted from avoiding the ducks. A person must maintain control over your vehicle at all times and follow at a safe distance. If there was a large rock, log, or a baby in the road it would be the same deal in trying to avoid a road hazard/collision.

Yeah, if I'm law enforcement I'd probably be against criminal charges where split-second decisions happen.

My wife almost killed us a couple years ago when she swerved to avoid some sort of animal, was probably a racoon or something. It looked about that size.

That was the absolute last time I ever let her drive when I was in the car. Rather kill a ####### raccoon or duck than myself and/or other people.

The freeway isn't exactly the best place to swerve or slam the brakes. It doesnt take much mental processing to know there is 100x less danger in running something over as opposed to a hard swerve or slamming the brakes at high speeds in traffic.

Even if you did happen to begin slamming the brakes, once you see DUCKS, that foot comes off the brakes.

It would be very unfortunate, but as I said, a dead duck doesnt compare to killing myself or someone else.

Swerving and/or panic breaking for small animals is nuts and a REALLY bad idea. Look...I get that nobody wants to kill an animal, especially cute ones, but this kind of thing is really dangerous. I'm shocked nobody hit anyone else.

I can't tell you the number of times I've nearly hit some idiot who just laid on their brakes for a squirrel. So maddening.

Running over the ducks would have been a lot easier than shooting them. However, don't know how duck pancakes would taste.

On the way home from Wisconsin this weekend...car in front of me slows rather quickly on a highway....and I see a duck and like 4 ducklings crossing.

No accident caused...but it was close with the car behind me.

You're doing the overall duck population a favor by hitting them. Clearly any duck that manages to get its entire brood stuck in the middle of an 8 lane highway is weakening the local duck gene pool.

Duck Darwinism.

But clearly any duck that gets her flock across the highway deserves some credit...

Meh. Not really. Anyone could beat frogger if the cars stopped before they were about to hit you.
