Mannah from the sky! What's getting dropped to your Waiver Wir (1 Viewer)

Black

Footballguy
Lots of talk about who's to pick up on the Waiver Wire and Roster Lock. I just wanted to take a different angle and see what types of players are getting dropped, who (IMO) often are more valuable than guys that emerge for a week.

Anyways, please state Dynasty/Redraft/Keeper, number of teams, and if PPR for reference,

10 team, 2-keeper, PPR

pre-week 5:

H. Nicks (for Crabtree, who was dropped before his contract was completed)

McFadden

Beanie Wells

Fred Jackson

Earl Bennett

Jamal Lewis

Roy Williams

Mike Bell

10 team 3 player keeper, .5 PPR Auction league with $200 budget.

Larry Johnson was dropped last week for some flyer can't remember who. We have to wait until the next week to pick up a dropped player by blind bidding. I won Johnson this week for $16, dropping Fred Taylor.

LJ may not be the greatest RB, but he should not have been dropped outright.

He's an upgrade on Fred Taylor obviously.

But not much else. I don't think I'd have him on a normal size roster even in a 10 team.

PPR confers him no value

His offensive line is beyond terrible

He loses passing down carries to Jamaal Charles

Defense is TERRIBLE, KC quickly moves out of 4 yards and a cloud of dust game situations

He's slow, he brings no big play ability

He's the safe play as a flex, but has basically no upside

McFadden was dropped in my league. I picked him up for C. Taylor (I'm 5 deep at RB and can wait for McFadden to come back).

This is all true, except I wouldn't say "no upside". Not a ton, but some. The counter-points are that the Chiefs have played 3 tough run defenses so far, and that whenever KC starts to show offensive improvement, Johnson is in line for the rushing TDs.

12 team PPR

Mike Bell
Earl Bennett
Nate Burleson (very strange...dropped Wednesday, I'm sure he will get claimed Saturday)12 team Standard

Mike Bell
Earl Bennett
Matt Hasselbeck
Felix Jones
Willie Parker
Leon Washington
Lendale WhiteI don't get those two

10 team IDP Kick Return

Devery Henderson
Jamal Lewis
LeSean McCoy

Non-ppr keeper w/small rosters & salary cap

Maclin was just dropped

I dropped Felix for Crabtree

Shonn Greene was dropped

Jonathan Stewart was just dropped & I wish I had the cap room for him or someone I could drop that would make him fit. I'd drop Johnny KNox, but still doesn't clear enough cap room for him. Maybe Shonn Greene, but we can keep 2 rookies each year & Stewart would not be a keeper for me, but Greene might be.

Compiled from three leagues:

Burleson and Larry Johnson were both cut in my money keep-8 league (non-PPR). I had to wait 48 hours until free-for-all waivers started, but I landed Burleson and lost out on Johnson.

Felix Jones was already in danger of having his value marginalized through a 3-way RBBC. I think he's been pipped by Choice at this point, who can spell Barber without exploding into a thousand brittle pieces. Felix is a fantastic talent, but he's headed down the McFadden / Bush career path. Good talent, explosive player, brittle as all get out.In a 12 team, especially with no flex, I can't see how you would ever consider starting Felix Jones at this point. If Barber gets seriously injured again, I think he could have some value as a flex, but I think Choice becomes the lead back, not Felix.

Well I can understand people not having a ton of faith in Burleson - his 1-game season in 2008 after a summer of hype soured a lot of folks - but the only reason he production declined slightly in Week 4 was Wallace is such an inaccurate passer. Hass is practicing again. Just makes no sense at all.I know LJ hasn't put up numbers, on the decline, etc...but in the two games I have seen this year he looked pretty good. The rookie HC is committed to trying to establish the run. I'm actually considering making a move for him. Everyone shys away, assuming he is broken down, but I think he'll be productive. Never be an uber-stud again, but he's a solid RB3 or matchup starter.

Having Leon in a 10 team PPR he's been not quite startable and seems poised to continue that way. Yes it's 4 games and yes TDs are hard to predict but he's in a group of players that have exactly zero of them so far. I'm hanging tight but there's the "other side" (for what it's worth).

12 Team, Non-PPR, Shallow Bench

C. Portis

B. Wells

D. McFadden

Portis got scooped up, the others are still out there.

Somebody dropped Ricky Williams in one of my leagues this week

I know he has a bye next week, but I think that's a great time to snag a good player sometimes. Grabbed Finley this week in a similar manner.

In my league....12 team .5ppr

I was forced to drop

Felix Jones

Also on waivers now....

Earl Bennett

Reggie Bush

Patrick Crayton

Lendale White

L.Coles

12 Team PPR / 15 man roster / minor KR yards (strong league):

Best drop is only Nate Washington and Nate Kaeding

12 Team non PPR / 14 man roster before last weeks games the following were dropped:

Desean Jackson (he was #1 WR in our league!)

Mike Sims Walker

David Garrard

Derrick Mason

Caddillac

Hasslebeck

And somehow I only got one of them in waivers.

On one team I have Felix and had Leon. My other backs are DeAngelo, Pierre Thomas, Ray Rice, and Thomas's handcuff, Mike Bell. I was forced to drop Leon to cover my QB spot with Derek Anderson at the bye; I was rolling with just Rodgers so I could carry an additional RB or WR. I dropped Leon because his stats so far look very ordinary and I figured I had a decent chance of him not getting picked up. If he was, I already see McFadden, Beanie Wells, and Buckhalter hitting the wire so I figured I could replace him after this week, when I drop Anderson. Felix is out and brittle but I think I can move him for at least something, like a low-WR2 or WR3, because he has some stats behind him. So there's one angle.

Jeremy Shockey was dropped in one league and hasn't cleared waivers yet. I put in a waiver claim for him since my TE (Olsen) has been disappointing.

Ahmad Bradshaw was dropped also. I scooped him up.

Some other noteables that were dropped: McFadden, Felix Jones, Justin Gage, Ted Ginn, Fred Taylor, Derrick Ward, Larry Johnson

Before week 4 in one league, Jonathan Stewart was dropped. Some other team snagged him before I could.

Portis, in a 12-team basic guppy league.

Lance Moore and McFadden, the latter by me in a desperate move to get a starter this week. Got killed by injuries and byes.

Great stuff here.

BTW, why all the JStew love? If DeAngelo isn't doing it, why think JStew will? I think people are hoping CAR gets it going and DeAngelo is lost to injury?

J Stew is getting a consistent number of touches, basically 30-40% of snaps, and he's got the talent to produce with those if Delhomme stops melting down.

I think it also has a lot to do with Branch's return and the attention he got as well as his efficiency with that attention. Many were saying after last game that Burleson looked to be the #3 in Seattle now.

12 team league, limited to 4 RB's per team. P. Thomas got dropped in week 2 for M. Bell. I picked up P. Thomas and dropped C. Portis in week 4. I now have MJD, R. Brown, F. Jones and Thomas.

No "mannah from the sky" in my 12 team redraft (17 man rosters, NON-IDP):

Lav Coles

Mark Bradley

Bobby Wade

Those are probably the "best" guys available...our WW is picked clean. No team in my league seems to be carrying any dead weight

10 team keeper: LTomlinson, MLynch, BWells.

I dropped Beanie to get Lynch - LT went in waivers just ahead of me.

This league has an IR, and if you leave a player on IR when they are healthy, they get automatically cut. That's what happened with these guys (although Lynch was on IR illegally).

It was weird - I was 6th in the rolling WW order and was surprised that Lynch fell to me. One guy ahead of me bypassed Lynch to pick up Gerrard - no idea why. I guess some people don't pay attention to who gets dropped; and when they look @ available players, neither Tomlinson or Lynch showed up towards the top in points scored.

I just got Jonathan Stewart off the wire this week.

I'll be eagerly awaiting to see if my waiver wire claim for Maclin goes through.

I believe the same owner is responsible for both of those.
