Manning during the stretch run (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking about trading for Peyton Manning, but am starting to have some second thoughts because of how he sat the last few games last year after they had home field wrapped up. But resting him for the playoffs didn't get them to the Super Bowl either.

Any Manning owners worried that he won't be available during the stretch for a FF playoff run?

I think Indy's game vs. the Pats this week will have a big impact on their playoff status. If Indy loses, then the Pats will have a leg up on the #1 seed. I'm also thinking that Dungy may have learned his lesson after last year sitting down the studs and being a little out of sync when Pittsburgh came into town.

As a Manning owner, (and a die-hard Pats fan) I'm rooting for the Pats to take care of business...

I lie awake night thinking about this problem. It terrifies me. I reall don't know what to do, except realize we've only played eight games, and the Colts D could lose a few in the strecth to make at least week 16 interesting. They go to Dallas and to Jacksonville, and either of those could be losers.

My guess is that you won't see Manning sitting any for the entire game. You would think Dungy learned his lessen last year about sitting his starters, causing them to be rusty for the playoffs.

You guys are putting a whole lot of emphasis on a sample size of one. I haven't ever seen evidence which shows that in the aggregate, sitting your starters for an extended period of time is hurtful to a team's playoffs chances relative to playing your starters.Dungy would have only learned a lesson if he was wrong initially, which I certainly don't think is clear.

You may be right, but I think the biggest factor is how much it might affect the Coltts psychologically.
