Marc Bulger + Linehan = Upright Bulger? (1 Viewer)

His shoulder appears fine, and with the new protection schemes, he my just stay healthy this year. Even if he doesn't, I think he's guaranteed to be top 5 fantasy wise. There's no reason he can't put up 3800+ yds and around 23 tds. Scott Linehan has made it clear the number one priority is to protect Bulger.

Here are some news tid bits that you may or may not know about.

Marc Bulger swears his shoulder isn't sore.

"Obviously it's just throwing, not getting hit," he said. "But it would be a lot worse if it was sore right now. ." A few NFL observers like Gil Brandt think St. Louis is looking quarterback in the first round, which is surprising.

The Rams plan to use the no huddle offense as part of their offensive attack in 2006.

Scott Linehan was successful doing the same thing in Miami late last season. While the Rams won't be like Indianapolis, it's good to hear that Linehan plans to keep St. Louis an up-tempo offensive team. There should still be plenty of scoring.

Marc Bulger is throwing without pain in his shoulder.Coach Scott Linehan says protecting Bulger will be a priority, but what coach doesn't say that? Either way, Bulger has a better chance to stay healthy with Mike Martz' minimalist blocking schemes gone.

On a per game basis, Bulger is easily a top 3 or 4 fantasy QB... unfortunately, he hasn't lasted 16 games and that's obviously a big concern. I suspect that Linehan will do more to protect the QB than Martz did previously, so yes.. I think that does bode well in Bulger's favor. The other concern is that multiple shoulder/elbow injuries could have an impact on Bulger, but if he's throwing fine and doesn't feel any soreness that's a good sign.

Hard to say. Linehan likes to use the pass to set up the run so that is helpful, but at the same time he has his boy Gus backing up Bulger. Bulger should have a nice year in Linehan's offense, but if you don't take Gus you dig your own grave.

Honestly, all Linehan has to do is coach Bulger into not trying to tackle guys with his shoulder after an INT and it should improve his health 1000%

Linehan's offense produces good passing numbers. Im still bullish on Bulger. Another great thing about having bulger is that you get his backup (frerotte) for cheap, and he could easily put up 80-90% of bulger's numbers if bulger gets hurt. So I see that as great insurance for the injury risk. you take bulger in the 5th or so, get frerotte late, and you locked up a top 10 passing game.

Any QB that loses Martz as an OC/HC is going to see a dip in production.

On a per game basis Bulger may see some decline, but that decline is likely to be well offset by being able to play a full 16 games vs Bulger's avg of only being healthy enough to play 12 games per year under Martz and his system.

Good point, Frerotte could step right in and put up possibly better numbers and he'll likely not be drafted.

sure, if you're just looking at overall numbers there's a great chance he matches his yearly totals under Martz, I still don't think he's a lock to stay healthy though. Bulger is built like a librarian.
