OXNARD, Calif. - Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said late Friday afternoon that first-round draft pick Marcus Spears will be out four to five weeks with a torn MCL, high ankle sprain and a groin pull.
"The good news as I stand here right this minute is there's a chance he could be back for the opening game of the season," Jones said. The Cowboys open the regular season against San Diego on Sept. 11.
Coach Bill Parcells said Spears had someone roll onto the back of his knee after a handoff to running back Anthony Thomas during team drills.
