Mark Prior had to leave his extended spring start after two innings Thursday because of shoulder soreness and is scheduled to see Dr. Lewis Yocum. It figures. Prior seemed to making progress during the second half of the spring, but it was clear he wasn't completely right after the Cubs decided not to send him to Triple-A to begin the year. It might already be time to write him off for 2007.

gunz' third-round pick down the drain.
You're kidding, right?
yea, this year. but every year for about four years straight he drafted him with the mantra of "THIS is the year, and I'm getting a steal with this guy"...every single time.in fact, on another board (rotojunkie) there's a thread from gunz last month proclaiming how much of a steal prior is in rd 20 or whatever, and to not "sleep on him".gunz'd

I saw him pitch, up-close, a few years back and the guys a model for correct mechanics. It just stunned me. As a former pitcher, this guy was just perfect, mechanically. Really kind of a tragic career he and Wood have had.

I wonder how much can be attributed to Dusty "I leave my starters in for way too many pitches" Baker had to do with it.

As a die-hard Reds fan, I absolutely loathe the Cubs unlike any other team in any other sport, but still, kinda sad. I liked watching him pitch.

From what I've gathered - it was a leg injury (hip maybe?) that he compensated for that ended up hurting his arm.And that he can't pitch through any kind of pain. He's a #####.

Prior and Pavano: twins separated at birth?

Nobody knows what kind of "pain" he is experiencing. I do know something is wrong with his arm. Give him a break...

Dr James Andrews is keeping busy

Mark Prior will undergo exploratory surgery on his shoulder Tuesday and is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery. "He's had some discomfort for a couple years," GM Jim Hendry said. "It's finally gotten to a point where it's probably the right decision to let one of the best people in the world go and have a look around to see if anything can maybe be fixed, if it doesn't need something major. Dr. Andrews has the clearance if something needs to be fixed or tightened up." Even if no major problems are discovered, it's unlikely that Prior will get into a game this season.
