Maroney in 2007? (1 Viewer)

Just curious why everyone feels that Maroney is a cinch to be starting next year. Yes, he's looked good but

Dillon's contract runs through 2009, isn't it just as likely we'll see more of the same rbbc next year? Are we basically counting on a Dillon injury?

I'm mostly curious because I'm trying to judge LM's value versus KJones in a ppr keeper league...I've been offered either one of these guys for chester taylor.

Well I'd say in the past a contract for a star player really doesn't matter to the NE front office. If NE can save $$$$ and they feel comfortable that Maroney is the guy they will send Corey packing in a minute.

where did you read that dillon's contract runs through 09?!my friends that are rabid pats fans were telling me that dillon's contract is done after this year.they were saying the biggest concern for maroney owners would be if dillon signs a minimum deal to stay in NE which is possible..but if you got a link or info that dillons deal runs through 09 please pass it along - thanks!

Dillon's contract runs through 2009. But Pat's could ask him to restructure or they could dump him. Most people feel Marooney is Pat's back of the future !!

Well I was digging for info on Maroney yesterday, and someone in this forum posted a link to some dude's website who's a huge Pats fan and basically tracks the team's entire cap situation. He showed Dillon's deal as running through 2009. Sorry I don't recall which thread it was in, but if you search on Maroney you can probably dig and find it if you really want!

Isn't there that old saying.."Running Backs taken in the first round should be starting by their second year."

It would be foolish for the Pats to use the same system next yr.. Maroney should start the games and get atleast a 65% of carries next yr..

Dillon has 3 years left on his contract at $2.5 million per season. He's reworked his contract twice since coming to town, so I am not sure what the cap implications would be if they cut him.

That being said, he's not that expensive and has been very effective in his role this year, so it's far from a done deal that he won't be back, nor is it a forgone conclusion that Maroney will be the starter next year.

As a Pats Fan.. I do not want Dillon to go anywhere.. As a Maroney owner in a Keeper league; I also want Dillon to pull a Marshall Faulk and tell the coach that its the Kid's time next yr..

you don't say...

I agree, Dillon will be around for a couple of

more years, and I think BB will happy

to have the insurance of a RBBC despite

the dismay of FF owners of LM.

Dillon is running better this year

than he did last. Maybe the competition

lit a fire under his butt.

Keep CTaylor.

:goodposting: As long as Dillion is able to perform at the level he currently is I have no reason to believe he will not hang around next season. What New England has going is what the Dolphins were hoping to have again this season with Ricky and Ronnie. And you saw how well that worked for the Dolphins last season. They have a 2 headed rushing attack and look very good. Maroney is no doubt a star and has elite skills. He just may have to wait one more year to get the full load all of us Fantasy owners are waitng for.
