Maroney (1 Viewer)

Both. I doubt he'll be any different than he was before his recent hiatus, nor do I think he will get much more of a workload. But I suspect Maroney owners will dump him for a song at this point.

What do you guys think, value play or bust?
So you're saying, "he's exactly who we thought he was!"? ...pre-hiatus, that is.Considering my 2 "value picks" at RB (IDP league) were Deuce & Caddy, sounds like I might need to offer up a prayer... or Mike Peterson. Thanks!

I am starting to think Maroney is WHAT SOME OF US THOUGHT HE WAS

A INJURY RIDDLED - OVER HYPED - RBBC type Rb who will never be able to carry the load

He had 252 yards through the first three games...got about 20 carries in two of them, despite blowing out opponents. Anyone expecting him to get loads of touchdowns should've been disappointed but other than that he was doing a fine job.

ESPN and the Associated Press had an article stating that Maroney ran well today but took some plays off and won't play against winless Miami on Sunday.

Once again..........I have more confidence in Yudkin than I do in ESPN.

The Patriots flexed their muscles in Dallas on Sunday but also came out limping, leaving a potential void at the running back position this week against the Dolphins.

The victory -- the unbeaten Patriots' first at Texas Stadium in five tries -- came despite having both tight end Benjamin Watson (ankle) and running back Sammy Morris (chest) leave the game with injuries.

Coach Bill Belichick had no updates on either player's condition Monday, but a source told the Boston Herald that Morris will miss Sunday's game against Miami and could be out a month.

The source told the newspaper that Morris injured the bone connecting the sternum to the clavicle. The running back left Texas Stadium in a sling and reportedly is in excruciating pain.

Morris, a former Dolphin, made his third straight start in place of Laurence Maroney, who is out with a groin injury. In the first two games, he passed 100 yards rushing and has three touchdown runs this year.

"Sammy has done a good job for us," Belichick said Wednesday. "He's played on all four downs. He's done a good job. We'll evaluate him day-to-day like everybody else and take it from there."

With third down running back Kevin Faulk getting the bulk of the carries, the Patriots rushed for a season-low 75 yards. Tom Brady compensated by throwing for 388 yards, his career high in a non-overtime game.

"One thing that I thought was great about last week was the way that Kevin Faulk stepped in there and played against the regular defense, running a bunch of runs that he probably hasn't run in a few years, since Corey [Dillon] got here. We're going to need more of that," Brady said.

Rookie fullback Kyle Eckel, who scored his first NFL touchdown last Sunday after starting the season on the practice squad, may also see more playing time.

"I'm not sure what's going to happen this week, but I just have to stay prepared and keep focusing on making improvements," Eckel said. "What I try to keep myself focused on is just being prepared for any situation. Somebody goes down, 'Eckel, we need you out here, we need you there.' "

Maroney ran before the Cowboys game, doing some cuts, but did not play even though Morris left the game. Maroney ran well in practice Wednesday but took some plays off and won't play Sunday against winless Miami.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

IIRC, Maroney was on the inactive list for the DAL game and could not have played no matter what happened to the other RBs, so right away I'm curious about the validity of their article. I'm not sure he's already been ruled out against Miami.

This just went up on CBSsportsline.

News: Laurence Maroney missed the last three games with a groin injury. Now Sammy Morris is sidelined. The New England Patriots may be 6-0, but their record of keeping running backs healthy is less impressive. Maroney, who gained 252 yards on 54 carries in the first three games, ran well in practice Wednesday but took some plays off and won't play Sunday against winless Miami, according to the Associated Press.

Great point. Once he was declared inactive, he had to get comfortable on the bench for the entire game. If he doesn't step on the field this week with Morris out, I would have to start to question whether there would be any trade value left with Maroney.

He was shown sitting on the bench against Dallas a few times, in street clothes.

Once again, I believe the sports media has COMPLETELY misquoted an article. Here is the ACTUAL ARTICLE that the Maroney quote came from:

LINK

In that article you can find this:

"Sammy has done a good job for us," coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday. "He’s played on all four downs. He’s done a good job. We’ll evaluate him day-to-day like everybody else and take it from there."

He won’t play Sunday against winless Miami, but Maroney is likely to return. He ran well in practice Wednesday but took some plays off. Maroney rushed for 252 yards on 54 carries in the first three games.
Many sites attributed the "not playing" part to Maroney when it was MORRIS that the article was referring to.

Can the Maroney threads be grouped together?

Laurence Maroney: Runs Well Wednesday

RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.com

Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Update: Maroney (groin) ran well in practice Wednesday, but took some plays off, the Associated Press reports.

Recommendation: At this point, the signs seem to point to a Maroney return Sunday against the Dolphins. With Sammy Morris out, Kevin Faulk, Kyle Eckel and Heath Evans would be available to spell Maroney this weekend, assuming he suits up.

Is Eckel the goalline back? I saw he got a TD last week... :goodposting:

Maroney is going to be gold until after week 10 when the Patriots clinch a playoff spot and BB decides to rest him to keep him fresh for the playoffs.

I'm only half kidding with that prediction.
