Marquees Wilson (WR), Chicago Bears (1 Viewer)

Is there any value here with Marshall likely out for the season? The reports I've read indicate that Wilson would step into WR2 duties behind Alshon Jeffery. Chicago's offense airs it out quite a bit, plays behind frequently, and has shown the ability the sustain two fantasy relevant WRs. I know nothing about Wilson other than he was a 2013 7th rounder out of Washington State with 6'4 height and 4.5 speed.

On first glance it seems like he could have solid flex appeal for any owners that are filling that position on a weekly basis with non-stud, matchup players. Thoughts?

Jeffrey commands the same amount of attention that Marshall does. That opposite wideout should be seeing single coverage all game. I don't know much about this guy but the matchup will be favorable and if he is athletic enough to beat his man, he should definitely be able to put up some decent numbers considering the offense.

3. Marquess Wilson, Bears – Owned in 1 percent of Yahoo leagues

One of my favorite “Alternative Handcuffs” way back in July, Marquess Wilson’s chance is finally here. And the timing couldn’t be better as his fractured collarbone got healed up just as Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) went down for the season. Wilson is a must-add because he’s 6-foot-4 with plus speed and will be playing every down in a Marc Trestman offense. Note that he went 82-1388-12 as a sophomore at Washington State, but slipped to the seventh round of the draft after quitting the team as a junior (over “abuse” from coach Mike Leach). He has mid-round talent and has now matured a bit physically at age 22, putting on a much-needed 20+ pounds in the offseason. The Bears showed a lot of confidence in him by letting go of Earl Bennett and handing Wilson the No. 3 job on a silver platter. They proceeded to watch him star at OTAs and minicamp. This week, he has a reasonable shot to break out in a home game on Monday night against a Saints defense giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts. At the minimum $4500 on FanDuel, Wilson is robbery.

Recommendation: Should be owned in 12-team leagues

I think Cutler plays favorites. The bears offense really has had an up and down year anyways but in the this game I think Cutler will lean on what he knows. Jeffery, Bennett and Forte.

The Saints defense is not good enough to take away all of those 3 guys in fact they would be lucky to take away one. After Marshall went out last week Bennett saw a crazy number of targets. I think Bennett will be the biggest beneficiary from Marshall's absence.

Wilson is a stretch. I would rather Charles Johnson or Marques Lee. Detroit has a good defense but they can be passed on a bit. Look at Vincent Jackson last week. I think Charles Johnson will do OK and if he is available he is a better play.

I'm deciding between him, Johnson, Landry and Crowell for a PPR flex. It's really tough to trust Wilson in the semifinals, especially with these warnings. What tempts me about him is I like to have the last player going, and I know my opponent is going to have Colson going Monday in his flex. Charles Johnson is scary because take away his 65-yard TD against the crappy Jets and he's just a guy who consistently gets 3 catches for 40-50 yards. Landry is going against NE and Crowell doesn't catch passes. Not particularly liking any of the options still leaves Wilson as tempting for being on Monday night.

Anyone expecting a lot from Wilson may come away very disappointed. I expect that a lot of Marshall's targets will go to Bennett. Jeffrey and Forte already get a ton of targets, so that might leave just some table scraps for Wilson. And you can't rule out Morgan getting some of those table scraps.

Not unlike a Davante Adams situation - you may get lucky on a few big plays if the key guys are covered, but hard to count on that.

The difference is Adams isn't a starter. Wilson will be. I'm not ruling out the possibility of Cutler throwing to guys he knows better but I'm not sure I'd read too much into last week's game as a predictor of what Wilson could do going forward. He likely hasn't gotten a lot of reps with Cutler as a reserve WR. That will change now. He'll get a full complement of starter's reps every week and this week's matchup against the Saints is obviously a very good one. I'm not sure what to make of Wilson just yet but the opportunity is huge and the matchup is a great one this week. I'm definitely looking at him as a cheap WR3 in Daily.

True, Adams isn't a starter, but on the field a lot. Just saying that starting won't mean a lot of targets when Cutler checks down to Forte a lot and looks downfield mainly at Jeffrey and Bennett. It could work out for Wilson on sheer volume, but there's also a lot of risk there that he's just running routes without getting the ball.

Adams is on the field a lot but the No. 3 WR isn't a huge part of the Green Bay offense this season. It's primarily Nelson and Cobb and now Lacy with a little TE and some No. 3 WR sprinkled in from time to time. A starting WR in the Chicago offense carries a much greater role. Again, I definitely agree Wilson could do nothing and Cutler could focus more on Jeffery, Forte and Bennett. But I don't see the No. 2 WR in Chicago and No. 3 WR in Green Bay being equal roles so if I had to predict which player would have more potential to do well I think Wilson does by a considerable margin. Especially this week with a terrific matchup against a horrible NO defense in a game which projects to be a shootout.

As a BMarsh owner, I picked up Wilson.

But I don't know that I can start him over any of Watkins, Charles Johnson, VJax or Landry. Or even Harry is Julio doesn't play.
