Marshall Faulk retires (1 Viewer)

Far from a surprising move, but it's still a touch sad. I remember following him from way back in his days at San Diego St.

He and fantasy football naturally go hand-in-hand, and not just because of those years at the top. I helped form my first FF league his rookie year, and have often measured how long I've played my his career.

:fishing: Mt. Man, Fantasy football will miss you too

2nd game as a freshmen at SDSU against Pacific he had 386 yards rushing and SEVEN touchdowns!

I've loved him ever since then. Here's to you Marshall!

here's a still from the sportscenter when he announced he was going pro!

I love that hat! BPaid :pickle:

He was on my fantasy team every season, he will be missed!

Ahhh Marshall. Thanks for the many memories. You were the best of the best for a good stretch of time. Look forward to seeing you in the Hall of Fame in a few years! :lmao:

I'll never forget the MNF game vs TB(when their DEF was strong) and Mr. Faulk punched the paint 4 times and helped me overcome a 25 point deficit to win my title. I remember my opponent being flabbergasted at the comeback. Truly a FF monster and arguably the pioneer as a stud receiver from the RB position. :lmao:

Marshall was on my keeper league team from his rookie year in 1994 until his second to last year. He helped me win four titles in that time.

Cheers, Mr. Faulk

:sadbanana:

I was at that game with my entire league. The guy with Faulk was in the same position as you. The owner ahead shows up to our tailgate wearing a "NFFL Champ 2001" cap he got embroidered at the mall.Classic! And the greatest individual performance I have ever seen in person...even better than the two 80-yard TDs by Barry at the Old Sombrero. And was there ever a bigger joke for Heisman than Toretta over Faulk??Thanks for the memories, Marshall!

He was also the lead character in one of the funniest posts that I have seen in my yrs here at FBGs; the "Ball Cancer Post". Classic for those who remember it!!

Thanks for the memories MF!!

He could have gotten a team to pay him a small signing bonus before he retired, if he wanted to. His name would have been worth a couple hundred thousand like a team like buffalo.

I can say that Faulk is the main reason I won my first 3 fantasy championships. In my rookie year ('99) of playing I drafted him in round 2. People thought I was a little nuts for taking him but he proved to be the man for a few years going. I think because of that he's my favorite fantasy player.

As a fan of the NFL, I have enjoyed watching Faulk play. His versatility made him one of the best to play the game. I think he and LT are 2 best backs at running and catching the ball. They bring an element that makes them more dangerous than backs the are 1 demensional.

Just want to say I'm really glad he decided to retire and not try to play more. The risk just isn't worth it. He's a first ballot HOFer and I hope everyone else appreciates what he did.

Thanks for the memories. :banned:

He's arguably the best ever at that, but as far as "pioneer", Faulk isn't even in the discussion. Charley Taylor wasn't spectacular as a runner, so they just plain converted him to WR and he went on to the Hall. Pioneer at stud receiver at RB who was first still an outstanding RB, that's at least Marcus Allen.

Great Player. Great Career. Class Act. First Ballot Hall of Famer.

What else is there to say besides sorry to see you go?

ETA Pioneer as a WR at RB IMO would be Walter. He is still the Chicago Bears All-Time Leading Reciever. :goodposting:

Roger Craig comes to mind as well.

He had a great career and will be missed. But glad to see him go out now, and not try to decrease his legacy by trying to comeback and not being the same player we all knew and respected.

Simply awesome player. Truly dominant on the field and in fantasy football. A guy in my keeper league already had him and drafted Edge in the first round. Now, Faulk was already pretty good but he most definitely wasn't the #1 guy at that point. Now, in an 8 team league where you kept 5 guys, taking a rookie like Edge in the first round was a little silly. I remember making fun of the guy. He then had the top 2 RBs in the league for several years and racked up championship after championship. :o

No, that would be Lenny Moore.Anyway so glad Polian traded Faulk away for a 2d rounder :tahrd: He helped make the Colts fun to root for again, at least for awhile. Too bad he got a grip on his attitude after he left, but glad he won a title. I can only wonder what Manning + Faulk woulda been like for years on end...And remember: we didn't land on no moon. :lmao:

After this post we know who the geek is. What's wrong with you? Are you some kind of cyber stalker or something? Don't you have something better to do than to worry about me? I guess I should be flattered that you think so highly of me that you seek me out and comment on all of my posts and quote me. How sad that you look back 30 some days for my posts to make comments on. I think if you quote someone more than once you are either a stalker/admirer. I think I'll make you an honory member of my fan club. You can be the president. I'll send you a picture and a book of favorite quotes that you can admire.BTW-Do your parents know you do this stuff? Faulk always struggled against CSU didn't he SLBD?Marshall deserves another one! :kicksrock:
I think he did, not sure. I know they bottled him up one year in Ft. Collins. I actually got knocked out in that game. I was celebrating a 4 yard loss in the backfield and somehow fell (3 rows) into that cement retaining wall at the base of the stadium. Right at the 50 yard line. Out cold. They actually stopped the game for a bit for the paramedics to come. :D There's more to it but I won't bother...College.
