Marshall or Wayne (1 Viewer)

Marshall. Colts have alot of weapons for Peyton to choose from plus Wayne's productivity really slowed down over the course of the last 6 games last season. I'm a long time fan of his but it appears father time may be catching up here.

I take Wayne. Planning on trying to trade him before he slows down at the end of the season. I like Marshal to esp in ppr format but Wayne is just so money.

Never understood this logic...what if you can't trade him for what you perceive to be fair market value at the time. By middle to end of season some of the teams in your league will be out of the running so that alone eliminates some trading options (especially the dumber ones).Take the guy who you think is going to have the better season from day 1. If you think it's Wayne...then so be it. Wayne wasn't so "money" for teams over the second half of last year and young targets in Indy are only getting better.

I feel like they'll be pretty similar, and I don't feel like either will be nearly as good as historically. I think Marshall will have adjustment pains (like anyone) and feel the statistical sting of sharing with a world-class rushing attack. And I feel Wayne will fall back into the pack as the young guys, especially Garcon, start gobbling up larger and larger shares of targets.

Something like 80/1100/7 for both.

Oh, to directly answer the question...

If forced to choose between them, I'd pick Marshall. Who, even though I see them as similar in likely production, has the benefit of being younger...which is generally a good tiebreaker, I think.

If not forced to choose between them, I'd pass on both, because I don't think either will be any kind of value this season.

Marshall plays against Revis twice and Asomugha once. Not sure how much you take that into account but...

Why? Because he has a new team, coaching staff, QB and offense? Realize he had three of the four of those last year. And while he has a new address he also has Henne rather than Orton. And sure he has a rushing offense to contend with for touches, but he also won't see as many doubles. Who did he have to take the pressure off him last year? Royal?

Marshall all day long and twice on Sundays...

I don't really agree with this...they went out and traded a lot for Marshall and then paid him a lot on top of it. They have him and they are going to use him. Davone Bess which isn't even in the same stratosphere as Marshall had 76 catches on the Phins last year. They will throw more this year and Marshall will be the #1 target by far. I think it's very likely he'll get 90 catches and he's also the best redzone target they have.

I'm just trying to project which WR's will be there, and I think those two will be the best available. Maybe Jennings too. I hope Megatron falls but I doubt it, because I'd take him over Marshall and Wayne, easy.

See, you started off a nice discussion with the OP and then morphed into something about your team and who you should pick. There are all kinds of Assistant Coach threads in the Shark Pool that are well disguised. This was one of them until you posted this.

Take it easy man, I didn't mean anything by that, I was just saying why I was trying to decide between the two. I fully know where to post if I'm looking for advice, and I'm not going to beat around the bush if I could use some help. What a fine detective you would make

Wow... edgy much?

I like the discussion of the two players, not the OP's draft strategy. That's why I'm in the shark pool and not the ACF.

Both formats I say Wayne by a mile. I see Marshall dissapointing many who think he's a top 10 WR (in non PPR especially). I just don't buy the new team/Henne kool aide everyone else is. Could be wrong, but I see no value in his current ADP and a lot of risk.

is Henne worse than Orton?

Marshall is basically out of the play on the 10-15 wildcat plays the dolphins run.
Not necessarily. I can see RB stopping short and heaving one to Marshall. I guarantee they try that a few times to free up more space for the play. The Wildcat could very well pad Marshall's TD stats by a couple of scores.

Wayne, hands down in a redraft.

The Colts score more than the Dolphins.

The Colts are a pass-first team.

Manning is better than Henne.

Manning and Wayne have as much team chemistry as any two players going.

Manning trusts Wayne.

Wayne has been the most durable WR in the league the last 8 years (has not missed a game).

Wayne has no knucklehead factor that could cost Marshall games or suspensions.

In short, it seems like everyone that is down on Wayne cites age or "slowed down" last year. Everyone is different but the track history of Wayne tells us that he is a stud FF WR. So, I wouldn't base my decision on a slow 6 week period last year (that was still better than 90% of the league). I would rather think that, IF he was hurt, he has every bit as much chance of being like randy Moss who was hurt and bounced back rather nicely (at an age older than what Wayne is) as he does to be some guy that just gets put out to pastor. Wayne isn't a typical run of the mill guy. He still has plenty of elite play left in him.

Moss is a bad comparison, although they both are up there in age, Moss has the physical tools to keep catching 10+TD's for another 5+years. Wayne is not tall and not very fast. He is a great route runner, plays on arguably the best offense, and has great chemistry with his QB. Dont get me wrong as Im not as low as others seem to be on him but you do have to agree that this is time history has shown players like him (see Holt, Horn, Carter, Rod Smith..) start to decline. Especially looking back at how 09 ended. If Wayne and Marshall are there Id take either as Im indifferent. Marshall will be fine as noone can cover him 1 on 1. You cannot assume Marshall will only convert on last years WR1's stats as there will be no confusion of who MIA's #1 WR is this year(Bess/Camarillo 09) -He'll get more looks especially in RZ. **Just keep Moss out of this argument as the guy has the best hands in the game, can meet the baller higher than 99% of his defenders-still!, and is still a burner -all things Wayne does not do. totaly different types of receivers.

I'll take the guy who has the 4-time NFL MVP and 9-time Pro Bowler throwing to him and who hasn't missed a game in 7 years while averaging 86/1200/8.

But if he's gone by the time it rolls to me, I'm happy to take Marshall.
