Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson Outlook for 2010 (1 Viewer)

I have Marshawn Lynch in a dynasty league. I know the potential is there. I mean look at what he did has a rookie. Yes I know he has had legal troubles and the O-line has had issues and injurie galore. But is there any hope for 2010? Just asking.

I know Fred Jackson is a FA. But with the contract they signed Lynch to a few years ago one would think he is there to stay.

Fred Jackson signed a contract extension in May 09. He's signed through the 2012 season for low $$$ for a starting RB.

I am a Lynch owner and hope he gets traded out of that mess.

He could be a great in-between-the-tackles guy somewhere....he is talented and a good RB who is still very young.

Im afraid thats the only hope for now. Lynch is only 23! He still has plenty of good football in him, but Jackson is more efficient and effective despite lesser tools. Lynch is a buy low in dynasty leagues, but one that will require a lot of patience before you see your just deserts for holding onto Lynch. The Buffalo backfield split in 2010 should look a lot like it did in 2009. Neither RB will have consistent value unless one of them gets hurt or Buffalo stumbles somehow into having a viable passing game.

Let's remember that it was coach Fewell that named Jackson the starter after he took over upon the firing of **** Jauron. It appears that Fewell will not be back. A new coach could bring back Lynch as the starter and move Jackson back to the complementary back. All up in the air right now.

Lynch is like 5 or 6 years younger then Fred Jackson. So I wonder if they trade Lynch to get some good value out of him while he is young. THoughts anyone. ???

Maybe we should see who is coaching the team and what kind of offense they will be running before speculating. I understand wanting some clarity, but I don't think you are going to get much for awhile.

Anyone have any new insight into this situation? I know Lynch is skipping workouts and has indicated that he'd like to be traded, but if he isn't who will start and get the most touches?

Lynch not showing up to voluntary workouts when a new coach has arrived, and given his loss of starting job last year and various character problems in the past, sends up major red flags -- again. He seems to have regressed on the field during his time in the NFL as well, another red flag.I think there could be legitimate concern he's not putting forth the effort to remain a viable RB in the NFL, demonstrating a lack of commitment and being too busy having a good time, as evidenced by the off field problems. He shouldn't have lost his job to Jackson last year had he been the same back he was entering the league. Something's wrong here, something the previous staff was seeing in practices and games or he still would have been starting. Players disappear quickly if not committed, and I'm guessing other teams in the NFL would be wary of trading much value for him or handing him an important piece of the offense at this point. Whether he stays in Buffalo or is traded, he's going to have to be in shape, stay out of trouble, and prove himself again. He's lost most of the cred his 1st round status and first two seasons on the field gave him IMO, and right now I'm wondering if he's caught JaMarcus Russell's "lethargy addiction" ( :football: ) and is going to end up flaming out completely before long. Skipping offseason workouts isn't a very good start to this year given all that's gone before.

I really thought Lynch was going to be a beast in the NFL, but I guess you can't ignore the knucklehead factor. Guy has loads of talent, runs hard, but is obviously not doing something right. Looks like the best thing for him would be a change of scenery. I don't know what Buffalo can reasonably expect to get from him though? 5th-6th Rounder?

I know Washington has added two older RBs to go with Portis, but I wonder if a Lynch / Jason Campbell trade would now make sense.

That certainly is a possible destination and help out both teams.I almost assumed that Lynch was going to end up in SD for a late draft pick, but who knows now.

very :wolf: Lynch has beastly talent......just my opinion, but I think he needs a guy like Singletary to get in his grill and keep him motivated.....in the right situation, I think he could still be a top 10 back, but the situation would have to be almost perfect as far as who is dealing with him........

So...is everyone buying up a cheap Fred Jackson before Buffalo cuts ties with Lynch and his price shoots up?

So, what is the going rate?

So, what is the going rate?
I don't know about the rate for Jackson, but I owned Lynch in 3 dynasty leagues.I was offered H Nicks NYG last year for Lynch (1 PPR for WR, 0 PPR for RB), before it was clear he was losing his starting job. I turned it down, and still am kicking myself for that one. He's still on my roster in that league.I accepted an offer of a 1.07 rookie pick for Lynch in January of this year (1 PPR all positions). I'm feeling good about moving him for that.I accepted an offer of Doucet, Schilens, and the 2.07 rookie pick for Lynch a week or two ago after he skipped workouts (1 PPR all positions). I'm sort of ambivalent about it. I could get burned if Lynch wakes up and gets back on track since he's only 23, but if he ends up on the junk pile instead at least I got something for him. I guess there's an OK chance that at least one of the three I got for him may pan out.

I don't think Lynch is as talented as some people want to make him out to be. He has been outperformed by Jackson for the past couple of years on the field and combined with his lack of work ethic and 10-cent head off the field, I just don't see much upside for this guy. It's a common tale so I am not surprised he is failing in the NFL.

Work Ethic > TalentYou can have all the talent in the world, but if you have no work ethic, you'll eventually wash out of the NFL.I believe Lynch has the talent and ability to be a top 10 RB, but until he wants to prove it, it doesn't matter. I also don't think it was just the previous coaching staff that lost faith in Lynch. His value has gone down so far that any team interested might as well just wait for him to be cut. I'd be surprised if he was traded for any significant pick/player.As far as fantasy goes, I only own him in one league, and I haven't received an offer in almost 2 years. I have room to wait and hope for a Benson like turnaround, but I really don't see that happening until he moves on, and even then he needs to get his #### together.

I haven't seen anything out of Lynch to believe he has top 10 talent, AND he has a bad work ethic.

I don't get what you guys are talking about with Lynch being a great talent. He has been very mediocre at best from what I have seen and as it has been pointed out, his work ethic is poor so I don't see him putting it together and suddenly becoming a top 10 player. Plus, I don't think we can assume he can even stay out of trouble with the law. If owned Lynch in a dynasty and there are people in my league who think he has top 10 talent I would gladly sell him.

I could be wrong, but I thought he was going in the first round of most redrafts a couple of years ago or so......

That's the point. Talent is worthless if the work ethic isn't there. Lynch graded out pretty high as an NFL prospect, and I don't think scouts were wrong about his physical abilities. What they couldn't measure, and IMO the most important factor in determining one's NFL success, was his lack of desire and dedication.

Schefter has a pretty good track record, as a Lynch owner I'm still hoping that the Chargers are the team, Lynch and Sproles would make for a good combo.

From Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Schefter recently named Marshawn Lynch the player most likely to be traded, ahead of Brandon Marshall and Jason Campbell.

Analysis: "They have a new coach, a new GM and any time there are new people in charge, they bring in their own players," said Schefter. "Marshawn Lynch could be traded on or before the draft." The new regime is less than impressed with Lynch's attitude, and it's looking more and more likely that he'll be replaced by a change-of-pace complement to Fred Jackson.

Horrible trades esp the schillenz one.. you just gave the guy away... you dont want NICKS but take a 1.7. Better get someone good cuz Lynch will be a stud soon ... Buffalo is nevernever land they are ####in clowns. Lynch is only 23 and will go somewhere for sure. Buff already said he is as good as gone
