Jackson will always get carries and see field time. He will never make it a true RBBC. Lynch has been that whole offense the past two seasons. His stats may not look great but if you watch the games he fights for every yard. That OL is still a work in progress, he doesn't have the benefit of running behind Minnesota's line for example. Jackson will be valuable this year because of the first 3 games and Lynch may not be in tip-top shape week 4 since he's sitting the bench for the first three games. Add in a couple of small injuries and he has value. Aside from injuries there is no way it becomes a true RBBC in Buffalo. Willing to bet anything on it. I shouldn't say no way. If he becomes in trouble with the law like Travis Henry or a jerk like McGahee, then it is certainly possible.the main issue here for lynch owners is that you have to hope that jackson doesn't do anything. If he rips off a couple of good games its going to be rbbc in buffalo
Your confidence aside, if jackson puts up 300 yards and 3tds in the 3 weeks lynch is out there is no way they sit him...Jackson will always get carries and see field time. if that happens, I'd still be willing to wager that Lynch winds up getting a lot more carries than Jackson from Game 4 to the end of the season. Lynch is the feature back in this offense. Jackson is a great change of pace guy.Your confidence aside, if jackson puts up 300 yards and 3tds in the 3 weeks lynch is out there is no way they sit him...
Jackson got double-digit carries in only four games when Lynch was healthy last season. If Jackson starts off strong, I could see that number doubling (at the very least) in the 13 games Lynch is scheduled to play this season. That will impact Lynch's fantasy production, perhaps significantly.if that happens, I'd still be willing to wager that Lynch winds up getting a lot more carries than Jackson from Game 4 to the end of the season. I personally think Jackson will get less touches/game once Lynch returns than he had last year. The addition of Owens and Rhodes will eat into his numbers. I expect Lynch to see a similar workload to the past year with a potential slight increase in touches/game due to the offense sustaining longer drives. at the optimistic Jackson owners in this thread. I guess wishful thinking is all you have to hold on to. Lynch is the man in Buffalo. Saying he is a dumb plugger provides an uneducated perspective on the situation. Try watching a game. It helps.Jackson is an excellent receiver, if the Bills are getting blown out he will still be in the game getting touches- most of them might just be through the air.For instance, im pretty confident NE is going to beat the @*#$ out of the Bills in week 1, taking Jackson out of the game completly.
AgreedAnd, by the way, don't listen to anything Obie Wan says about Lynch... Serious hater. The only thing I can figure is that Obie sell grills, and Lynch goes to one of his competitors.Aaron Rudnicki said:I personally think Jackson will get less touches/game once Lynch returns than he had last year. It will be the first game back for Tom Brady and during prime time where underdogs always bring their best effort. Does the name Lawyer Milloy mean anything to you?im pretty confident NE is going to beat the @*#$ out of the Bills in week 1, taking Jackson out of the game completly.
Running lanes miraculously open up when teams add supreme talent at wide receiver. With that o-line, I doubt anyone will do a great deal running the football.
The only thing I can figure is that Obie sell grills, and Lynch goes to one of his competitors.
Marshawn Lynch is a starting caliber NFL running back and Fred Jackson is an ideal back-up. As an owner of both it seems like a great situation for each player to be successful. Expecting Jackson to overtake Lynch is wishful thinking by owners extrapolating per carry averages into game situations where those numbers will not translate.
I was surprised that the Bills were favored in that game, but you are right.http://www.covers.com/pageLoader/pageLoade...004/team12.htmlThe Milloy game was in Buffalo and the Bills were favored.
For some reason I recalled that game being an upset, thanks for the correction BF11. Must have been the sheer shock of the 31-0 final score and the resulting SI cover.I was surprised that the Bills were favored in that game, but you are right.http://www.covers.com/pageLoader/pageLoade...004/team12.htmlThe Milloy game was in Buffalo and the Bills were favored.
I have no allegiance to either RB. I'm just trying to get a handle on the situation. Just my speculation but if Jackson does well in the first three games it seems to me the Bills would have plenty of incentive to keep him involved - perhaps getting double-digit carries many games, which didn't happen last season when Jackson and Lynch both played.Again, just my speculation.at the optimistic Jackson owners in this thread.
Yah the Sam Adams pick 6 was definitely an epic play. The Pats also missed the playoffs the previous year...trader jake said:For some reason I recalled that game being an upset, thanks for the correction BF11. no. both starting guards will probably be rookies but the LT (Langston Walker), C (Geoff Hangartner), and RT (Brad Butler) are veterans. However, Walker is moving from RT to LT and Butler is moving from RG to RT. And the LG (Levitre) played LT in college while the RG (Wood) played C in college. Lots of players moving to a new position this year, which is a huge cause for concern.all that being said, however, the run blocking of this line should be better than the pass blocking. the interior went from being a weakness the past few years to a potential strength this year. the interior looks to be strong and mobile and has a lot of upside, but they might need some time to get comfortable. Both tackles are certainly a concern though.I realize running lanes can open up with great receivers, but aren't they potentially starting 3 rookies?
I haven't heard anything about that. Here was a recap on the offensive line play during the first week of camp. Thanks for the correction, Aaron. That seems like a LOT of change. I'd be worried it'd take awhile for them to 'gel'. Any truth to what Bills_Fan11 said about Walker complaining? Do any homers expect that to affect things at all?
http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2009/8/2/9...-one-of-buffaloOffensive Tackle. Outside of quarterback, this area has easily been the biggest worry for the fan base, but Langston Walker and Brad Butler are playing well. Butler has struggled some with bull rushes, but he's still re-learning tackle techniques, so that's to be expected. Once he fixes pad level issues, he'll be fine. These two are known commodities and play consistently, so as long as their shortcomings aren't anything more than physical - and thus far, they haven't been - the Bills should be alright offensively. Demetrius Bell has shown tremendous improvement in his second year; you're going to see him on the field a ton in the pre-season. Jonathan Scott has been solid as well, and has a shot to make the roster.
Offensive Guard. Eric Wood is a freaking monster. He's huge, athlhetic, strong, and tenacious. He's a leader. Buffalo's offensive line has been physically talented over the past few years, but there wasn't any leadership up front. Wood is that player. He might be an offensive captain next year; the kid oozes leadership. Andy Levitre has been impressive as well, though not anywhere near the level Wood has; Levitre is improving, but don't be surprised if he's beaten out for the starting left guard job by Kirk Chambers, a dependable veteran who doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Levitre has some growing up to do. Seth McKinney doesn't stand a chance to beat out Wood at right guard, but he's been solid as well, and he'll be a valuable reserve this season.
Center. Geoff Hangartner, unsurprisingly, has picked up the intricacies of Buffalo's no-huddle offense quickly. There isn't an awful lot to report here, as we've had a tough time keeping an eye on him, but no news isn't necessarily bad news. Brandon Rodd has been getting second-team reps at center; he's a big, thick kid that in all likelihood will end up back on the practice squad. He has some talent.
