Martellus Bennet youtube clip (1 Viewer)

i actually liked martellus this year too. Add him to the list of morons on the Cowboys roster. It seems like the list just grows and grows each passing day.

The kid screams immature and probably will never get it. Watching him on Hard Knocks made it very clear to me.

video is stupid but all i see here is some overreactions

allen iverson's rap was worse than this content-wise (although not as horrible skill-wise), and he certainly went on to be quite successful

doesn't look like a 'character issue' to me unless I'm drastically missing some context

I had the volume down some, so correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the guy rapping call Romo a homo, and something bad about Witten? It was hard for me to understand what they were saying. I'm not used to listening to rap.

The biggest loser is his friend who chimes repeats a word every once, and a while. He is bobbing his head, and appears to be his #1 fan.

How could this possibly get him in trouble? All he's doing is rapping with his buddy like millions of other youtube videos. There's nothing negative about the Cowboys or the NFL in it. Talk about over-reaction.

 :goodposting: I know Tellus and he's crazy and very outgoing but there's nothing at all wrong with that clip.

Oh, and most of you guys are out of touch. The kid is a kid. He's having fun. I did the same sorta ####, and much worse. Just because he plays a sport that pays him millions doesn't make him a grown adult.

Bunch of old curmudgeons in here.

...but did he call Romo a homo and also say something negative about Witten? If so, then rapping or not that was wrong and not a very good career move.

Slow news day?

This is what you deem a character issue? A rich kid partying with his friends and having a little fun? Folks, this is the social media generation.

Maybe I missed something in translation, but how is his rap any different in intent than droves of other hip hop songs that are smash hits on the radio these days?

I guess this is a Devil you know type of thing. We root for a league littered with felons and yet, when a kid does a badly executed rap vignette he's supposed to be endemic to what's ailing the Cowboys?

Were some of you ever kids? And when you were, did you do stupid things?

 Just a kid having fun.

Last time I checked, guys his age are men, not kids. With that comes responsibility that includes not saying things like that about teammates, even if joking around, and especially for the world to view. I guess I could be a jerk to someone then say, hey, I'm just joking around homes.

I stand corrected then. I had a hard time understanding what he was saying and thought he was making derogatory remarks about Romo and Witten.

Again, haven't seen it, but based on what most have said in this thread, I deem this :lmao:

Dallas Cowboys TE Bennett fills verses with curses

02:56 AM CST on Tuesday, January 27, 2009

By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News

cwatkins@dallasnews.com

Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett released a song on YouTube that uses derogatory terms to describe African-Americans and gays.

Bennett, who is African-American, wears a white, autographed Cowboys helmet during the video, which lasts almost three minutes.

"I shouldn't cuss that much," Bennett said. "I've been listening to [rapper] Too Short too much."

Dessie Brown Jr., Bennett's friend, released the video to select media members and asked that they watch and also listen to a rap song on Bennett's MySpace page. In an e-mail, Brown wrote, "excuse the language on both."

"It is something that the organization is looking into and it is something that will be addressed," Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said.

Bennett's agent, Kennard McGuire, declined comment.

Too late, it was pulled. And to those above like Wood who say this was no big deal and those who say anyone who thinks so is an old curmudgeon, I say to you it's fine for him to act like a kid in private all he wants, but when he went public and disrespected various cultural groups AND disrespected the man who pays him by going on and on about "taking" his money, WHILE wearing part of the uniform (helmet) owned by the man who pays him, then he is not just a kid having fun. He is an idiot who doesn't have the sense to know he is supposed to be representing while in public that team and that man who pays him, and at nearly 22 he should at least be grown up enough to figure that out. Man up Tellus.Curmudgeon out.

Yup, he is acting like an immature child. The problem I see is that kids don't win SBs, men do.

i'm sure the company i work for would be ok if i made a video of this sort and just switched the names to coworkers. especially if they had just hired me or i was the new guy that hasn't produced much or made them any money as of yet.

i have a hard time understanding how this isn't that big of a deal........ i do understand however this is the Cowboys and this type of behavior has become the norm

(KFFL) Clarence E. Hill Jr., of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, reports the Dallas Cowboys may fine or discipline TE Martellus Bennett for making a profanity-lace video that was placed on YouTube, according to sources.

all i heard was "i ain't never been a homo," and the line about witten was something about catching passes IIRC--i saw it as a shoutout and a positive thing (although the homo line is still a little questionable and non-PC).granted i wasn't exactly going over it with a microscope, as it wasn't a great rap and i wasn't outraged like some apparently were

the 'homo' thing i'm with you on, but if you think a young black guy saying N***a is doing so with a context of 'disrespecting a cultural group' you're sadly out of touch

When I see people calling for their teams to dismiss the criminals, adulterers, bad fathers, drunks and substance abusers from their teams, I'll start crying in effigy for teams to remove the "young and stupid" crowd.

Right...because Super Bowl teams aren't littered with men of questionable moral fiber. Do we really have to go down that road and start documenting how many teams [sB champs among them] had key contributors who, in other parts of their lives, made far less intelligent choices than making a silly rap video for YouTube?

Rotoworld:

Martellus Bennett-TE- Cowboys Jan. 29 - 12:51 pm et FOXSports' Jay Glazer reports that Martellus Bennett was fined one game check by the Cowboys for his profanity-filled YouTube video.Jerry Jones wasn't going to cut his 2008 second-rounder over the disturbing "rap," but if Bennett had been a late-rounder he'd probably be gone. This should blow over by camp as long as Bennett keeps his nose clean until July.
I just checked his 2009 salary, and it's $385,000 so one game would be a fine of a little over $24,000.

I wonder if Jerry ever fined Michael Irvin a game check for doing cocaine in the company of hookers while hanging out at the "White House."

Priorities Jerry, Priorities. :lmao:
