Marvel Cinematic Universe - Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Daredevil Look Good for 2025 (2 Viewers)

Cap 4 has potential. I like that they're going back more towards Cap 2: Winter Soldier than going forward with a more Avengers style movie. Thunderbolts looks like and Earth version of Guardians....if the primary characters have good rapport with one another; it will hide any flaws in the actual story.

I thought both trailers were terrible.

During the thunderbolts trailer they kept have characters comment on how the other characters are doing awesome stuff, starting with the winter soldier.

If it was awesome you would not have to tell me it was awesome, seemed like a strange strategy.

I think they're doing that to show their pecking order in the MCU; Bucky is upper tier....these guys aren't.

So sort of like the Justice League scrubs group?

I think. I'm assuming this is their version of Suicide Squad; which was DCs attempt at Guardians of the Galaxy.

IIRC, every character but Bucky doesn't have a high level of MCU exposure. That Ghost lady was in Antman II...but she was pretty forgettable. Red Guardian, Florence Pugh and Taskmaster were in Black Widow, but that was released during COVID on D+ and Wish.Com Captain America and Elaine Benes were only in that Falcon/Winter Soldier show on D+. They're going to have to flesh them out a little bit more than usual.

Rewatching The Defenders (formerly Netflix, now on D+). I am a sucker for the team up/crossover stuff and I really liked it. I think it was underrated and possibly got a bad wrap due to the Iron Fist (actor and show being disliked).

Not sure how much will move into Daredevil Born Again.

Man I saw Jon Bernthal in the announcement for that and got so excited. I think the Punisher is my single favorite Marvel story of all the movies and shows on any service.

From what I've read The Punisher and Jessica Jones will make appearances - and The White Tiger will be introduced in this series.
Seems there will be a few characters coming back for Born Again which I am excited about. The 2025 Marvel preview showed Bullseye, Kingpin and his gf, Punisher and DD.
Reportedly Karen Page and Foggy will be in it as well.

I am excited for it.

Well Kingpin is a given since the storyline has him running for Mayor.

True. Just noting returning characters.

Thor: love and thunder was on tv the other night. I'd seen it before but thought maybe a 2nd viewing might be better. It's still a really tough watch. Just waaaay too many goofy jokes and Bale was way under utilized.

Really feel like ragnarok was the sweet spot but Taika was just allowed to run too wild with this one.

Color me confused but interested. Is this set in another time line?

The first official synopsis for ‘THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS’ has been released:
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal

Yeah that movie is terrible. I even like the 2 Captain Marvels and the Eternals more

I think so, but then they end up at Earth-316 or whatever ours is? Do we think Doom-Stark is in this?

Best guess at this point is that he will be in the after credits scene.

Well, color me confused and disappointed. I'm guessing this is in another branch timeline instead of Earth 616. Makes sense because if the world had superheroes like the F4 in the 60s, you would have expected to hear some references to them in the current MCU.

I haven't seen Ozark but I heard that Julia Garner is outstanding in it. That being said, she doesn't fit the mold of what I was expecting for Silver Surfer, who has an iconic look. I realize the source material is free to be played with but that was a step farther than I expected. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised but overall this feels pretty disappointing.

I do expect RDJ to make his Doom debut near the end (the "very personal" part). They will probably have some event that flings them (the F4 and Doom) through the multiverse and have them land in Earth 616 so RDJ can be the headliner for Avengers Doomsday in 2026.

Garner was beyond outstanding in Ozark. She just killed it in every way.

From what I understand she is not going to be playing what we think of as the most common silver surfer. She is expected to be playing Shalla-Bal who they can make Garner look like with the normal Hollywood magic.

Yeah just about all accounts she crushed it in Ozark. Not sure why I haven't made time for that show yet.

Also, I guess I made a bad assumption by equating Silver Surfer with Norrin Radd. Shalla Bal would be interesting although I don't know in the comics if she was ever the Surfer. I think she had the power cosmic bestowed on her to restore her home planet. I think she married Doom when she was controlled by Mephisto. My mobile Marvel game recently introduced Mephisto as a character so maybe that is a small tip that he will play into this. Anyway, could be an interesting twist on the source material. Still not sold but good point on she is probably not playing the classic Surfer.

A version of that synopsis has been around for some time ; sort of like the MCU meets The Beatles; A Hard Days Night. It takes place in the 60s/70s where the FF are the only heroes on the planet but are also world renouned celebrities/icons who end up saving the world (presumably Galactus) but then end up just disappearing and being erased from the planets collective conscious. I guess they're rolling with it but putting a Multiversal spin on it.

Should be cool. It sounded like it was a really fun movie that really showcased their celebrity, their abilities (they really are supposed to be the best of the best in Marvel) and their familial commitment to one another.

Chris Evans has signed to appear in Avengers Doomsday. It is unknown what character he will play at this point.

There is a plot in the comics where an alien takes on the appearance of Steve Rogers

Well it is the multiverse so he could be anyone. And with the skrulls, they can be anyone....

Mostly I just hope the upcoming movies and shows are good and we start to see a direction and cohesiveness we haven't had since EndGame.

Kraven's Last Hunt
Unfortunately SONY is releasing a Kraven movie and it looks bad.
$11m domestic/$28m worldwide

Ouch
Has to be the end of the Sony Spidermanless Universe right?
Other than Venom has any done well? Talking live action not the Spiderverse animated movies which were good.

Kraven
Morbius
Madam Web
Are there others?
That’s it. But yeah, unless you want to consider amazing Spider-Man and AS2 to be part of this, these have all been bad except Venom.

It's Sony. By this time, I doubt anyone takes them seriously or counts their movies as part of the character's development.

I can't believe the censor didn't catch that.

Hmm, the picture may be starting to become clearer.

First Robert Downey Jr, then Chris Evan’s, and now Scarlett Johansson is coming back.

I am getting the feeling Doomsday is going to create an evil variant of the original Avengers…..

LAME
I’ll reserve judgement but most likely you’ll be right.

I have enjoyed What If? This week, mostly because it isn’t meant to be taken seriously.
