Maryland Eastern Shore - Towns worth a visit? (1 Viewer)

Looking to do a short getaway with wife in a couple weeks.  Been to St. Michael's but nothing else on the eastern shore.  Any interesting towns/places to stay?  Ideally looking for places that are walkable, have healthy food, good coffee, distillery/brewery (or at least a few cool bars), parks or actual hiking trails a plus.

Whatcha got?

ocean city.

food isn't good- but at least it's pricey. people are a awesome, if meth is your thing. but it's walkable and there's a good brewery on the mainland on the way to assateague- which is itself a beautiful spot

I do like Rehoboth in delaware.

there are supposedly nice towns along the bay side of the peninsula with antique shops and stuff- co-worker used to go there a lot.

I was all set to reply St. Michael's before I saw the post.  Chesapeake City and Cambridge are two cities on the eastern shore that have intrigued me in researching similar ideas in the past, but never made it over to either.  So, more just googling recommendations, unless someone weighs in on those.

Not Eastern Shore, but I did a weekend getaway in Frederick, MD earlier this year that hits what you were looking for too (lots of distilleries and breweries, and all in a pretty walkable downtown).

i've been to OC.  might not be the worst idea during offseason.

we have been to rehoboth a few times.  might be an option if we decide not to do something new.

If you're feeling adventurous, check out Smith Island. You have to take a ferry over. Interesting town, walkable (no cars on the island), good food (not gonna find a fresher soft shell crab), great scenic walks/kayaking/fishing. No night-life though and the locals are a little odd.

Easton is nice.  Chestertown isn't too bad either..    Chesapeake City is much smaller with a few nice places on the canal..

Definitely check out the Hyatt in Cambridge, nice little hidden treasure. Town is a short ride away and we founds some good bars/restaurants.

Cambridge is a cool spot, where is Chesapeake City?

Close to Elkton.
I’ll add that to the list. Chestertown is a nice town too but I’d put Cambridge ahead. For breweries Cambridge has RAR Brewing.

If you guys open to heading into Delaware coast Fenwick Island is pretty cool from what I remember.

cambridge does look pretty good at first glance.  and that hyatt looks pretty nice.  and there's even a wawa...

Besides the Hyatt, one of the things that has interested me in Cambridge is its proximity to the Underground Railroad National Historical Park.  Just opened a couple of years ago and got pretty good buzz. Not sure if you are into that sort of stuff.
