Yikes. I can't imagine how bad Felix's dessert was if they kept Tubby over her. I think Becky gave him the rice because he's obviously such a weak player that she can beat him any time she wants to, so might as well chance that he sticks around.

Becky and Frank all the way. Disappointed by Josh in the return.

Martinez is a joke. Becky saved his ###. No way he doesnt go home if he doesnt get rice. Nice job, Becky.

No more Felix....Dammit.

I think this is the first time I was totally against the judges pick. I don't understand how the guy who had all the advantage blows it, doesn't even have the main ingredient for his dish, gets a break, butchers the dish anyway and an obviously better cook went home. I couldn't possibly disagree more.

Josh is really lucky to still be there. I think I agree with Becky and Frank as the final two. Of course one misstep and either could be gone but those are the two strongest overall. My final four would be them plus Christina and Monti although Monti needs to turn it up a bit.

On the rice question if I had it I would've given it to him. First off that's just good sportsmanship. Second he's dead man walking as far as I am concerned. Becky giving him the rice didn't keep him out of the bottom 3 or her from winning. He should be next out.

I don't disagree with your final two but as far as Monti turning it up I disagree. If everyone didn't dislike her (I have to admit she annoys me too) she would be talked about as the favorite with Becky. She has nailed everything she has cooked for about the past 10 shows.

...I don't understand how the guy who had all the advantage blows it, doesn't even have the main ingredient for his dish, gets a break, butchers the dish anyway and an obviously better cook went home. ...
Are those external factors part of the criteria being used to judge the dish? (Question - Not argument)

Well allegedly they are judging the whole approach. And I think when we are looking at deciding who goes those things should be considered. I would.

Same here, not sure how you can be considered a Master Chef when you forget your main ingredient.

I agree. Plus, it's not like his dish tasted good. I thought he was going home based only on their comments while tasting. I'm very surprised they sent home Felix instead. David doesn't belong in the top 6, while Felix could have been top 3 or 4, for sure.

So, what happened to this show? I wasn't at home last Monday night because I was at the hospital for my Dad's surgery. I just figured Tivo would take care of recording it. I get back home, and no MasterChef. I figure it has something to do with the Olympics (even though they're on another network). So, last night, I figure it's going to be on, and it's like a 2 hour Hell's Kitchen. Did I miss some announcement, or something?

They are showing repeats of both. Two Hells Kitchen repeats on Monday. Two Master Chef repeats on Tuesday. I think both are new next week.

Yea I wouldn't want to compete with the Olympics either.
I think they are missing out. I don't care about the Olympics at all. But I'm invested in these shows. I would have watched both shows both days the last two weeks. I can't be the only one.
I think they figure "Why bother?" since summer ratings don't matter much. Might as well put the show on when the possible audience is greatest, and that's after the Olympics and later into the summer (kids home on 'school night'), and get the largest advertising $ possible.

Some good points. I'm just disappointed I guess.

Finally. See ya.

And i loved Franks decision before the pressure test. Its a competition, ya gotta play to win at this point.

:goodposting: on both points. It sounded like David's abuse of garlic on the filets saved Josh. They both weren't even close on the well done. In my experience that's the easiest one to get right! And good for Frank for playing the save the right way. Although I'm pretty sure he would've beaten Dave easily, It's too late in the game to be playing Mr nice guy. You get a chance to go upstairs and another step closer to 250k, you take it all day, every day.

Yea Frank made the right move but all I thought before the decision was that Josh sure gets screwed into those pressure challenges a lot.

How did he get screwed? He was a direct cause for their team failing. No matter what Frank said while trying to be noble when it was a pretend decision, Josh really didn't deserve to sit out. The biggest knock on the blue team seemed to be the delay in service and that all fell on Josh. If he wasn't going to nominate himself, I would have liked Frank to say "no one" instead of Josh. That just gives Josh the ability to act like a martyr and to claim his revenge will be to personally make Frank go home. Good luck with that.

Yeah I don't think Josh makes it much further. And as Frank you have to take the out. The big 3 are Becky,Christine and Frank. I had the same doubts Joe did about Christine but she keeps getting it done, so big props to her. Team Helen Keller was pretty good. I think Monte is just outside that group but not by much.I will say the Wal-Mart commercials by the judges are getting to be a bit much.

I agree with your final three.By the way, one more thing regarding Josh. Had Josh cooked the best or second best meal in the last elimination challenge, he would have been a team leader and had the opportunity to select himself to sit out. At first I didn't like the "sitting out" twist they put into the show this season (it just seemed to add drama), but the more I think about it, the more I like rewarding those who have proven they should stick around.

Yeah it makes being team leader that much bigger a deal because you never know when it earns you a pass.

Since hes been back in the competition hes been in pressure tests 2 weeks in a row, and his time is definitely short. That said, it wouldnt surprise me to see someone else go before him in a "shocker moment". Frank and Becky are my picks for the final 2.

Gotta figure there will be a shocker moment. Frank or Becky has to flame out before the final.
You can always get caught in a pressure test trying to do something you have never done. But these two seem to get stronger each show. Seeing that leads me to believe they can keep going. Christine seems to have leveled off a bit but she was so far ahead in some ways they are still catching up. Monte I am not sure about she needs a good run to show she still is growing. Josh seems to have hit his ceiling to me.

The right person got sent home but that was a nice consolation prize  - of course, that assumes that "you have a job waiting" isn't as a dishwasher/server type job. Although Monti still annoys me, I could make a case for any of the remaining 5 to win. I think it is going to come down to familiarity with the remaining ingredients as each seems to have their comfort zones. I didn't think I would get sucked into this show, but I have enjoyed it. Not sure it is better than Chopped (especially the grill master version) but the story lines are interesting (though forced in my opinion).

My guess is he gets some low level kitchen job to see if he will stick with it. Like prep cook helper or something.

Does it seem odd to you guys how random the "I have a job you can have" things are? So, David Martinez gets a job but the next person that gets voted off probably won't get a job with one of them. It's just interesting watching who gets the jobs or money to go to school and who gets a "Goodbye, stick with it" speech.

Yeah I have noticed. I have been thinking it depends on the players real life situation. For instance Frank is a stock broker. If he goes I doubt he'll get an offer. I mean the David job isn't going to be glamorous or high paying is my guess so why offer Frank something like that? But Monte is an under employed single mom so maybe they throw her a bone.

Not overly odd in this situation since the restaurants appear to be in David's area (depending on where in Chicago they and David are). In general, I agree with you though.NCC - agree on the type of job. Based on his performance overall, I don't think David has earned more than that.

It would be tough to give an entry level chef much more than that to start, considering Graham's restaurants have Michelin stars if I'm not mistaken.

Amazing how Christine keeps killing it. Complete disadvantage without being able to see the plating and she nails everything. Pretty damn unbelievable.

would like to see an uncut version of this past show that is focused on how Christine does this. That is just baffling to me that she could not only recreate flavors but the exact look of the dish

:goodposting:She is humble, respectful, and kind. Pretty much the opposite of Becky.
 Becky was on my nerves tonight with her whining about them not liking her sashimi dish. Can't take an ounce of criticism. And yea, when you're as good as she is, then you raise the bar and expectations of the judges. No you're not perfect little miss Becks, get over yourself.

It had me wondering if her assistant was giving her instructions on the plating, but that would be cheating wouldn't it? The judges seemed flat out amazed themselves at her dish, I thought Ramsey was going to cry. So I doubt that they would let her assistant help her in that way. Amazing what the other senses can do when you're relying more on them.

Christine is one of the more amazing things I've ever seen on tv. Really cool. It would be awesome if she won.

Becky seems like a c#nt.

I thought the whole point of the assistant was to be her "eyes" and tell her what everyone else was seeing. I dont think there would be anything wrong with telling her how to plate it to match the hero dish.

It was Monti's time, she's not up there with Frank, Christine, and Becky. Josh has been good lately and only stumbled badly once, I felt he deserved the last 4 slot.It bugged me a bit that Monti kept saying "I'm fighting for this!", but as soon as she steps up to be judged she apologizes, says she missed the mark, and cried through the whole thing. The montage was all tears, too.

It was explained earlier that she doesn't have a total lack of vision. She can see light and color, but she has no focus. It's like looking at a fogged up mirror or seeing the world through frosted glass.

Barring somethig crazy happening, theres no doubt that Josh goes home next.

Frank and Christine duke it out for the title. Becky and her attitude get the axe before the showdown.

Well to me Josh has been stumbling since they brought him back. Went right into bottom 3 right out of the gate. And I don't care for his whiny attitude. I know Monti wasn't going to win, the big 3(Frank, Christine and Becky) are too far ahead of her. But she is better than Josh IMO. And I think she was very genuine as Joe noted. At this point I am rooting for a Frank and Christine showdown. I really think this may be Christine's to lose at this point. Josh and Becky just piss me off.

Her assistant is a master chef and when the camera isn't on Christine the assistant does all the cooking and plating. When the camera is on Christine, they show her trying to carefully slice the tuna or put carrots in a pot. I'm kidding of course... during plating I imagine the assistant tells her where food was positioned on the original plate she is trying to copy. I like Christine's humble and gentle attitude. Becky and Josh do not have this quality.

 You could be right, I had thought the assistant is just there to help her gather ingredients when needed and to not let her put her hand into the stove top burners. The assistant wasn't there when they were gathered around looking and tasting the dish. Christine was actually using her fingers to feel the placement of the food. The three chef's amazement with her cooking seems genuine as well, like they're completely shocked that she's doing this with her disability without getting too much help from the assistant.
