Matt Cassel @ Oak (1 Viewer)

Jayrok

Footballguy
Lastest sheet ranks him at #7 QB. He's at Oakland this week and Oakland is #9 in passing defense giving up 193 YPG and 15 TDs.

In contrast, Tyler Thigpen is at home against SD who is #30 in passing defense giving up 264 YPG and 20 TDs. He is listed as the #18 QB on the latest sheet.

Is there something else there that led to this ranking this week? Weather should be better in Oakland than in KC, but the Raiders' pass D isn't that bad, is it?

Maybe Moss going back to Oakland to face his former team?

I have Cassel in one playoff game and trying to decide if he's the guy. I do not have Thigpen, just used him as a contrasting example.

Thanks.

Must be because of what a QB did vs. Oakland the last time his father died.
Good call. "One day after his father died in a car accident,[31] Favre decided to play in a December 22, 2003 Monday Night Football game against the Oakland Raiders. Favre passed for four touchdowns in the first half and 399 total yards in a 41–7 victory over the Raiders on international television (even receiving applause from "Raider Nation"). Afterwards, Favre said, "I knew that my dad would have wanted me to play. I love him so much and I love this game. It's meant a great deal to me, to my dad, to my family, and I didn't expect this kind of performance. But I know he was watching tonight."[32] He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.[33] He then went to his father's funeral in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Favre won an ESPY Award for his Monday Night Football performance.[34]"

Or it could be because Oakland got pretty beat up on the corners last week by Rivers and that Cassel is a capable QB in a capable offense. Sorry, I just think you guys are reading too much into trends.."Must be because of what a QB did vs. Oakland the last time his father died." I mean I hope thats a joke but if you guys really believe that, its way off base. No one knows how a death will affect a player's performance or if it will at all. Also, no it is not because this is Moss' "former team". He most likely doesn't care who he is playing, and is more concentrated on delivering a performance when called upon. This is the same reason the books make money, people buy into random media outlets, and don't really consider the real reasons teams are favored and underdogs. Sorry if this post offended anyone.

None taken. The post was dripping in :topcat: ONE, is much too small of a sample size. I'm sure there's been others, but I don't know and it was more of a dig at the fact that the Raiders have sucked, as a whole for over 1/2 decade.I am actually favoring the Raiders in this one. Pats are VERY busted up, and have spent a week and a half across the country from thier facilities, homes, families, equipment and resources. I like the Raiders for the upset... you can check my playoff calculator.

I don't understand either of these rankings either. I do have both and I'm going Thigpen - doesn't seem close either.

eta: the self jinx in this post is staggering. I'll be back later and you guys can't taunt me.

he very likely killed my Super Bowl chances in one league .... single handed

wow .... but you know what, good for him, coming off death in the family, knowing Brady will be the guy next year .... good for Cassel
