Guy hasn't started a football game since high school.
I hear this all the time, to which I ask . . . so what?Cassel has only played in two games with anything more than a cup of coffee, and he threw 2 TD in one game and one in the other.I don't have time to look up the exact numbers, by he's participated in roughly 16 preseason games, 4 training camps, and practiced/prepped for 58 NFL games.I realize there is a huge difference between practice and game experience, but it's not like he hasn't been practicing playing QB for 10 years.Again, I realize he didn't play in college, but other NFL players that sat around and did not do much for several years included Trent Green and Jake Delhomme. I'm sure there are others that rarely saw any action and then became starters.Do I think he will produce like Brady 2007? No. I think he will closer to producing like Brady 2001 (2800/18/12).

Romo was an unknown backup in Dallas for a few years. Just learning the system in practice. I think he turned out alright. :excited:

Best post of the week.

I don't see why this guy (OP) is given so much flack. Joey-Joe-Joe-Shabado over there gave an equally ridiculous post saying he'd throw for 3 and to "mark it down". What's so bad of the other side of ridiculous?

Honestly, I think he throws for 1 TD, but throws 3 INTs. This guy hasn't started a game since high school, he is familiar with the offense yes, but he's by no means a legitimate NFL QB. look for NE to sign a vet to come in and manage the offense Trent Dilfer-like (not saying they'll bring him back from retirement, just saying a player like him) right after NE gets embarassed by the JETS. Be nice to see them run up the score like 10-42. Stick it back to Billy

I will take the over....Matt Cassel practiced for four years against the USC defense....pretty sure USC could probably beat 1 or 2 pro teams right now.....

No they wouldn't. That's a silly statement.
USC could probably beat 1 or 2 pro teams in salary cap used right now...That's about all they could beat a pro team in

Best real life comparision I can think of

Matt Hasselback in 2001

His first start at cleveland

comp 20

Att 34

Yards 178

TD 0

Int 2

Seattle won 9-6

I take back my previous comment....Cassel is going to suxor this weekend.....

Of course if you want to go back a little further

Kurt Warner 1999

Comp 28

Att 44

Yards 316

TD 3

Int 2

Rams win 27-10 against Baltimore at home....

Caeell played pretty good last week after taking "zero" reps with the first team in practice. The Pats have great WRs, a good running game. The guy is in a good position to succeed.

Won't happen. Why you ask, because Belichick will pull him for Kevin Faulk after two.

I would love to see Belichick come out passing on a number of consecutive plays in the first drive. It would clearly be scripted and it might be 2-3 straight passes and a punt, but maybe more. If it works Belichick puts down his stamp again and Cassel's confidence soars with the rest of the team/fan base. If it doesn't work, then come back again with a mixed approach and fight for the win.

Let's say the Jets get the ball first and score and the Pats air it out and Cassel throws a pick six. Being down 14 points on the road with a green QB lacking confidence would probably be too much to overcome.
