Matt Jones ... WHO ? (1 Viewer)

He has got a good chance against HOU to come back and reclaim his spot as #1 receiver in Jax. It was supposed to be his from beginning. The only reason he shouldnt torch them for ungodly stats is because they will be running the ball all day (kind of like last week), as they should be winning this game handily. However, I see a pretty nice day for him in the range of 5 balls for 80-90 yds and an early TD. Stats so far for MJ this year ... 18 catches, 14 first downs. Even hurt all year he has at least been productive when in there. If any of you saw him make that catch last week on the underthrown ball where he went over the defender ... he is back physically at least. I think this is the week they get him involved more in the offense. Have him run a play or two, or even pass now that they know he is back. Not any time too soon either, as my receiver core is in trouble right now.

what happened to reggie williams the past few weeks? i thought with jones injury williams would step up. it seems as though i was wrong. i think jones has a nice second half

I'm shocked how much the Jags seem to miss J Smith. IMO No one has stepped up. Jones might get a "pass" due to his injuries but I wonder if their first half stats in 06 aren't quite similar to their first half stats in 05

Garrard loves Wilford.

2 TDs last week, plus two other end zone targets that were over thrown.

The Jags might win this game handily, but methinks you haven't noticed the scores of the recent games between Houston and Jacksonville.2006 - Houston 27 Jacksonville 7

2005 - Jacksonville 21 Houston 14 & Jacksonville 38 Houston 20

2004 - Houston 20 Jacksonville 6 & Houston 21 Jacksonville 0

So the past 3 seasons Jacksonville is 26-14, but 2-3 against Houston, who is only 11-29 during the past 3 years. All 3 games they lost, they lost handily. The won one close game and handily won one game.

I don't think I've seen the word "handily" used that many times before. Anyway, I don't expect Matt Jones to put up super stats this week. Houston (as pointed out handily) plays them tough for whatever reason. I do think he starts increasing production over the next couple weeks, but, I'm not counting on him to be a 2nd half star.

Some people love their hand.

:D Just trying to emphasize the OP's statement. Sometimes, some teams have other teams numbers even when they are terrible against everyone else. I just hate blanket statements thrown out, when the history is completely different. Kind of like Miami vs. Chicago. Before the game, the only thing I could think of was Marino beating the 85 Bears, and when Miami won, it did not surprise me at all.I agree that Jacksonville seems like a better team, but if I were a betting man and the line was giving Houston no respect, I would think about starting to bet on the underdog that thrashed the favorite just a few weeks ago.

Wow, I did not realize the history here. Maybe this game is a lot closer than I originally thought. Jax has been playing so much better lately, and Houston ... has been playing like Houston of late. They have won 3 out of last 4 and Hou has lost 3 of 4. The one loss being the game between them. This one is in Jax compared to the last one in that was in Hou. I dont know if Jags trend vs. hous will continue, but that surprises me that they have played that poorly against Hou. Good points. A close game would only help Jones IMO.

Very :goodposting: They have great chemistry as evidenced by last years second half. Wilford may be the sleeper to have now after an aweful first half of the year.

I don't think Jones will ever be the WR everyone is hyping him up to be. I have to admit I bought into it at the beginning of the year, but Jones can't stay healthy and Wilford seems to be Garrard's favorite target and Williams is Leftwich's favorite. Wouldn't surprise me if they move him to TE in two TE sets.

I too was on the Jones bandwagon but traded him away for Rod Smith. I think Jones' upside is still there. I would be greatly surprised if Jones moved to TE since they drafted M. Lewis in the first round, Wrightster has been solid, and Jones is not known for his blocking skills. Oh and by the way, the "Matt Jones ... WHO ?" thing is very boring.
