Matt Moore - Starter potential? (1 Viewer)

Sorry if this has been discussed ad nauseam, but anyone think Matt Moore has a good chance at retaining the starters spot or will it be a short lived exercise? I haven't seen a lot of his earlier work and I really don't know if I feel comfortable with my lack of "Moore" knowledge. What say ye, all knowing sharksters?

Probably a Moore thread somewhere, but he should be the starter in 2010. I think Fox has stated such after the Jake release. He'll have 2010 to prove his long term worth. I think he's a QB2.

i looked at this situation at the end of the season when i was evaluating WR steve smith. in the last three games, smith's production was the best of the whole season. a TD in each game and between 60-150 yards.

i think moore is good enough to keep smith's production up. moore might not be a very good fantasy QB or real life QB, but he's good enough... which probably means he's good enough to be a very average QB2. something like kyle orton's production.

of course i expect moore to enter the season as the starter since the organization has spent a few years developing him, and they have few resources to pursue a QB in the draft. whether or not he sticks around for longer remains to be seen, but he doesn't strike me as a legit solution for the franchise long term. he's backup quality talent in the right situation.

I think Matt Moore has a great deal of potential actually. If I were a Panthers fan, I would be excited about this development. Having gotten a handful of starts in 2009, a full offseason getting the work as the starting QB should really work in his favor. I think he'll come out looking pretty solid at the start of the 2010 season.

Yeah, I am just "a'scared" of taking him as a flyer and then having to lose him shortly after because he turns out to be Tim Couch (or some other name you are more comfortable with :whoosh: )

Having Ben and Cutler as my two QB's currently, has me a tad bit on the uneasy side. Not running for the hills terrified, yet, but just forcing me to look at options heading into the year. Moore is out there to be had, but not sure if he was deserving if the roster spot or the risk. I figured you guys would be better to judge than me ... knowledge more than I possess being the factor.

:)

Found this for you:
I'm pretty high on this kid going forward.

We talked about him here and also here. He's also debuting in my Dynasty Rankings.

I had thought we covered him in the Dynasty Watch, but maybe not. I know he's also been mentioned on the FBG Blog.
Matt Moore was highly regarded coming out of Oregon State by Ron Jaworski and others. Dallas liked him, tried to sneak him onto the practice squad in 2007 and Carolina grabbed him and refused to let him go. Now he gets a real shot to lead the team.
