Matthew Stafford - buy low or avoid? (1 Viewer)

Is Matthew Stafford a great buy low candidate or someone to avoid?

What's the deal with Stafford? I don't have a good beat on the Detroit offense. He seems like he's off to a slow start this year. He was pretty bad vs a crappy GB defense in week 3. Is he a buy low candidate? Or has something changed a-la tom Brady?

You think he started slow in game 1 against the Giants? He played great in that game. Week 2 he wasn't bad against a tough Panthers D. He wasn't good last week against the Packers, but I don't think Rodgers looked good in that game either.

I like him, but is he really a buy low? A great game, a decent game against Carolina, and a bad game. He's not hitting the sky high expectations after week 1, but there's no reason to panic.

Well, he is no more or less of a buy low than a guy like eddie lacy who faced 3 tough defenses to start the season.

Stafford still has Megatron, Tate, Ebron, and Reggie Bush. He might be a bit inconsistent, but he's going to put up good-to-great numbers this year. QBs aren't going to put up 300+ 3+ every game.

seriously? Nobody will be selling Stafford low at this point.
How bout a team that had ap, Ryan Mathews, and ingram? Decimated at Rb and needing to make a move...never say never.
Maybe, but as a stafford owner in dynasty currently hurting at rb (Charles and Martin) I'd still need a damn good back for him. Not many owners will trade a qb who gets to pass to calvin on a pass happy offense.

I do believe I am torn here. He has a huge bit of upside given what he has done before, but his lows are very low and not fun at all. If I had to make a decision, if I could get him for pretty low I would try to be honest.

If you can find someone so reactionary that he's willing to sell Stafford low because of one game, go for it. I doubt it's likely though. Most any Stafford owner knows he has a top-shelf fantasy QB.

Yup. I've owned since he was a rookie and it's been more frustrating than not.

Only concern I have is that the Lions defense is getting better and may precipitate a ton of shootouts as in the past.

Before Week 1 I sold Stafford/Vereen/TRich for Foles/LBell ........... I would love to have kept Stafford but couldnt pass up Bell, I would buy him back for a lower price

Exactly. And what would constitute a "buy low" at this point? (It's why I voted "Avoid"; I just don't think he'd be able to be acquired for any "low" cost.)
