Maurice Jones-Drew and his fantasy picks (1 Viewer)

I've noticed every MJD drops a name or two of who he thinks will be superstars in fantasy football.

Last year it was A. Foster.

Has anyone heard who is on his team this year or who he is saying will break-out?

I caught part of his show on Sunday and he said to keep an eye on C.J. Spiller.

He also said that if you didn't pick him (MJD) in the top-5 then you'll be sorry.

I have tried listening to him this year and cannot believe the way his co-host bows to MJD and the ABSURDITY he gives off. MJD rattles off "advice" as though it's gospel, yet he has no idea about how actual drafts are unfolding. He'll say things like, "I would target PLAYER X in the 5th or 6th round" ... when PLAYER X is going in the 2nd round of most drafts. But what's really offensive is how he takes personal offense and goes on a hissy fit every time someone calls in about taking a high pick and doesn't pretend that MJD is going to be the first player off the board.

A guy called up and asked if MJD would choose Foster or Peterson first overall, and MJD effectively hung up on him, sighed, told his co-host he needed a minute, went on a rant about how people keep calling up and asking stupid questions, and then waited for his co-host to genuflect about how OF COURSE MJD should be 1st overall, so the caller was REALLY asking who he would take 2nd.

He's currently in free fall in my draft. 10 team PPR and he's still available at 3.03 Maybe he'd better remind himself his best years are behind him...

Serious?! I'd like to call in and ask him where he was for my team in the Championship week (16) last year.

He's a steal at 3.03.
I think he's worth it there, however, SJax, Forte, and Hillis are all still there too. Weird. Back on topic. I think a lot of people saw MJD look average at times last year. His knee injury was cleaned up, but it sounded like there is significant wear and tear in his knees. I don't know what to make of him this year. He was pretty disappointing to me last year as I had him in a couple leagues. Hard to get over that disappointment.

You are pretty tough to impress. 1,641 yards and 7 Tds in 14 games last season for MJD.

Maybe but his team looks to be horrendous this year. If they go with Gabbert at the halfway mark as expected then MJD's value is dead in the water.

honestly, I think garrard plays most of the year. I play in a 12 team .5 ppr and will take him in round 2 if hes there.

I dont care how crappy the rest of the team is, the rest of the RBs around his ADP are in similar conditions or are splitting reps or have worse injury history than him.

It is shtick with MJD. The guy is just having fun, I don't get why some people take it seriously. A large percentage of the players consider anyone doing fantasy football a nerd, I would think MJD being involved and a proponent for the hobby would be a positive.

If they start out something like 2-5, 3-4 (which I think is likely) then you will see Gabbert sooner rather than later. I think late 2nd, early 3rd he is good value but you have to be conscious of his team and how they have the potential for a train wreck.

I would gladly take MJD #1 in a redraft.
:excited: Romulan = MJD Never knew you were a trekkie, MJD... Uh I mean 'Romulan' ;) So how is that knee coming along and tell us if you really think Gabbert will take over at some point? And can you expand on what you see in Spiller that you like this season?TIA

MJD is one of my players to avoid. He says his knee is 100% and he's healthy but I wanna see him in game action which probably won't happen much if at all before the season. I'd draft Rashad Jennings before I take a chance on MJD and the high pick it'd require to get him.

High Pick? hes going in the 2nd round. Hes recovered from his knee injury he had all last year, and still put up 1650 yds from scrimmage.

agree. and hes by far the best RB around his ADP. I think some people are scared about a rookie QB taking over at some point. But really, would Gabbert really be that much worse than Gerrard?
