Maurice Jones-Drew doesn't mind being a backup (1 Viewer)

Maurice Jones-Drew told the NFL Network that he doesn't necessarily expect to be the team's starter next season.

"I just want to go in there, returning kicks, playing backup, I still have a lot to learn from Fred," Jones-Drew said. Mo-Jo said he is happy to compete for the starting job, but spoke glowingly of Taylor and certainly doesn't seem to mind playing in a timeshare. Greg Jones could also be a factor next season.

Hmmm. Good team guy? You have to love his attitude.

Disclaimer: I don't own him in any league, but I wish I did. I was wrong about him initially. Sometimes I get caught up in the size thingy. :blackdot:

I saw the ESPN special on the rookies and I must say I really like his approach and attitude.

yes he does, he's just not going to say it to a reporter.
or he's been told already that he's the man, and doesn't need to kill Freddy. I think this job ends up in MJDs hands, but he continues to share w/ someone. Don't forget Mike Tice is in JAX...

This is probably exactly why he will become a great starter within a year or two.....cause he is humble now.

I agree that he is saying all the right things. I have him in a keeper league and wish he'd just sound like most players and tell us he is the man. I just believe there isn't much value in any comments at this point in the offseason.

:banned: I hate to be cynical, but at that risk. I don't tend to place much value on any athletes comments about his playing time and ability. They all have huge egos and expect to be the greatest player ever. Even the guys who are rookie free agents.I think they've already told him to look ahead for more work and he just doesn't need to rock any boats. So I'm agreeing with you. In a long winded way...
