Mavs Owner Mark Cuban possibly buying the Cubs? (1 Viewer)

I was listening to a sports radio station this morning, and they reported that Cuban may be interested in buying the Cubs? Has anyone else heard this? This would be entertaining. I can see him now with a front row seat at a Cubs game, yelling at the Umps and his players..

Sorry no link, but I'm looking now.

I heard it before The Trib was sold and the team was put up for sale

I doubt he will get the team though... The current list of baseball owners wouldn't want one like Cuban to join their fraternity...

That may be true. I actually was hoping he would take over the his home town team the Pirates. They seem like a team that he could take over do his makeover like he did the Mavericks. Which helps MLB out

There were rumors at one point that he wanted to buy the Pirates a few years ago but the owners wouldn't sell. They're making money so I don't blame them.......

It won't happen, mainly because Selig and more importantly Reinsdorf, won't let it. Reinsdorf wasn't keen on Cuban when he joined the NBA, and being one of the main players in the "Good Ol Boys" network running MLB, he won't let Cuban in, especially in Chicago. Can you imagine Reinsdorf having to spend mad loot to keep up with Cuban, who would probably spend like Steinbrenner. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN!! Even though I think it would be great for baseball in Chicago, and that coming from a White Sox fan

i like it, too. so does zambrano; on sportscenter, he basically said he'd like it because cuban is a hothead like him and has the money to pay him...i paraphrase.

i was a little surprised, though, because when this possibility came up a year or so ago, i thought he said he wouldn't have two teams at once. does anyone else remember that?

I agree with you and I also think that this is a huge disappointment. People don't realize what a tight-knit group baseball owners are compared to other sports if they haven't dug into the history of the game. I don't care for the Cubs persay but at the same time I think Mark Cuban is good for sports in general.

I'd love to see it happen. I hope the sheer amount of press this gets will shame the owners into giving Cuban a fair shake. We'll see.
