You got to give them credit, they use every tool win and don't apologize for it.  Utterly ruthless.
Exactly.

Was at a dinner party with two other couples a few weeks ago and was surprised to find everyone was 100% on board with things like impeaching Gorsuch, passing single-payer with 50 votes in the Senate and on and on.  Basically anything that can be done under a strict reading of the rules, without regard for tradition, norms, etc.  All six agreed that, to whatever extend they ever really existed, those things are gone now.

But Dems won't ever do that, at least moderate Dems don't.  They want to reach across when they are in power and will lose again.

The 29 year old with no trial experience who just got put on the bench - was it Circuit or District? - is one pretty bad anecdote. It’s an incredible lack of interest in qualifications, it’s hard to understand.

It has to be politically survivable first.  Republicans couldn't have done what they're doing now in 1980 either.

If the roles were reversed in 2016 with the SCJ situation.  Do you think the Republicans would ever let that happen without a huge fight?

Seems like small potatoes when compared to Reid and the Democrats changing judicial confirmations to a simple majority vote to help Obama slam his nominations through.

I am pretty sure it was the Democrats who were the first ones to press the nuclear option button.

During the Obama administration, Senate Democrats used the nuclear option for the first time in history as a tool to load the court with judges, thus setting the stage for the cluster screw we have today.
How many seats did it impact and why the need for another "nuclear" option?
