McCown & Graham listed as starters in Tampa (1 Viewer)

Just read a few blurbs stating that McNown and Graham are listed as the starters on the Bucs' first official depth chart.

I, for one, am pretty surprised by Graham getting the apparent edge over Ward, especially based on the contract he signed in the offseason. I'm also mildly surprised about McNown moving ahead of Lefty. Figured if healthy, Byron would win that job early on.

Anyway, here's the blurbs. What does the shark pool think?

For their 1st preseason game right?
I didn't read it that way, though it may be the case. It lists them both as starters on the depth chart, not just the first preseason game. Obviously, a lot can happen between now and the start of the season. However, being on top of the depth chart means more reps with the first offense, both in practice and in the preseason games.

Graham was always slotted as the starter.

Even the coach stated that Ward would provide a nice "change of pace".

However, people get hurt and under/over-produce on expectations and alter the pecking order.

Graham was an incredibly sneaky play for early drafters (he is the goalline back regardless) as people bought into Wards media spotlight.
that is always what I thought and I stole Graham in the 11th round of FBG Survivor 1...amazing how late he was going

totally agree and think Ward is way way overrated.

I try to read the actual articles behind the blurbs when I can, they often help put things in better perspective. The writer in that article says to take this depth chart with a grain of salt. Much is subject to change.

It's actually the other way around. McCown has been the 'starter' for weeks now...in the feelings of the team and the local media. Recently, reports (esp from this board) have been that Leftwich was looking better and gaining on McCown.

this could change my approach from going WR heavy in the early rounds. I was high on Ward and thought that he and Ray Rice were excellent value. With Rice's value skyrocketing, it looks like I'll have to shore up my RB2&3 much earlier.

And will people PLEASE stop referring to the Tampa QB as "McNown." You just look stupid when you do that, and I see it about once a week from somebody in this forum.
Boy, you sure have a lot more time on your hands than I do. My bad for mispelling his name in the body of my post but getting it right in the title. And at work, I toggle in and out of a few sights just to get some info to fill in the gaps at work. Stopping to "dig deeper" and do research during the working day is something I don't have time to do. Clearly, you do, so good for you. I was simply passing along pertinent information as I saw it. If you don't buy into the depth charts, PLEASE feel free to ignore posts discussing them and move along. I'll take the rest of your suggestions under advisement. Have a great day dude. :banned:

Hey S&B,I was out of line there and I apologize. I've deleted the post you reference above and cleaned up post 10. I got pissy with you when there was really something else going on causing my mood, and I should have just not posted. Again, sorry. :bag:

No worries brother. Sorry for the rough day. Anyway, back to the Bucs, regardless of what the depth char shows, I don't see how Ward doesn't get first crack at the starting gig in Tampa. They are certainly paying him solid coin. Living in NY, I saw a lot of Ward and I think he has a much better skill set than Graham. I actually like Graham and remember when the Bucs signed Ward. I was surprised, but remember saying, Ward has a good opportunity on a team that wants to pound the ball.Clearly, the rb situation in Tampa bears watching. I was simply surprised that the first official depth chart out of Tampa has Graham ahead of their costly new free agent rb toy.
