McCoy: Best back in football? (1 Viewer)

Not Sleeping

Footballguy
On pretty much EVERY carry that LeSean McCoy takes, I end up thinking "damn he's good.". I know it's blasphemous to suggest it, given a certain back in NFC North (no, not James Starks), but I'm starting to think that McCoy might be the best back in football. I think he definitely is the best back in fantasy football, and wouldn't hesitate to draft him 1.01 if drafting today...especially knowing that unlike Peterson, he doesn't even have to rehab...he just regenerates a new leg at halftime.

What do you think? Can you make the case for McCoy over Peterson in real football? In fantasy football?

I'd say it's a good start for McCoy but the RB top 10 is as cloudy heading in to week 3 as it was on draft day.

If Peterson had a QB, he'd be the clear cut guy still IMO.

With the current situation, McCoy and Charles may well end the season 1 and 2 or 2 and 1.
:goodposting: My thoughts exactly, Peterson is the clear #1 in talent and ability, happens to be in a very poor situation though.

I agree but i dont see

Mccoy lasting the whole season
What makes Mccoys situation any different from Charles lol... they both have injury histories, they both have shown wear when given a heavy workload and both look as though they will lead the league in attempts.

THe answer depends on the style of play you like.

SOme people will prefer Peterson because of his physicality and his production speaks for itself.

I think Shady is the most dynamic back in the league. He is a pure joy to watch. He is the one player in the NFL that I don't care that I am not a fan of the team and I totally forget about fantasy football points when I watch him. I just sit back and enjoy it. To me, it is the same enjoyment I got from watching Barry Sanders or Terrell Davis. I just love to watch those subtle moves and then watch him put that talent on display.

I get much more enjoyment from Shady than any other player but, again, its preference. If you got guys that loved Earl Campbell, the Bus, Dickerson, etc, they love Peterson for different reasons.

Everyone was a Franco guy, or a Dorsett guy. A Campbell guy, or a Billy Sims guy. An Emmitt guy, or a Barry guy.

He was tailor made for this offense. He reminds me a lot of Barry Sanders as he turns a 5 yard loss into 2 or 3 yard gain sometimes. Even when there doesn't seem to be a seam for him to fine he's able to still cut back outside and get at least 4 or 5 yards. To say he is the best back in football is very much debatable but he is in the conversation for sure.

Forte is just as good as everybody mentioned in this post. If not better.
You're not going to get a lot of support on that one, Buddy.
I don't agree he is better but I would put him in with the likes of McCoy, Charles, etc. He looks very good this year. He is in the conversation.
I wouldn't put him in the same class as AP and Shady in terms of pure RB talent but Forte looks like he'll have a monster year in fantasy. The Bears are finally using him as a weapon and he's right up there in terms of yards from scrimmage.

I think Peterson, McCoy, and Charles could each be considered the most talented back in the league depending on the day/your preference. I love watching Marshawn Lynch run though.

I agree 100%.

That guy's body of work over his career with some truly putrid offensive lines has been nothing short of amazing. This is the first year we're getting to see him with some talent up front, and a system that looks to be a perfect match for his skills.

Pretty much my thoughts as well... McCoy, Charles and Peterson I'm not really sure how you can decide who is the 'most talented' they all hold very different skillsets from each other and it makes each of them explosive and a joy to watch in their own right. Charles is the NFL's all time leader in YPC which does mean a lot to me, especially considering the crap teams he's also been on the past few seasons. McCoy personally has never looked as good as this season which makes me this a lot of it's just the Kelly system that's vaulting him into greatness.

Also agreed, Lynch is probably my favorite back in the NFL. He's just a joy to watch cause he just barrels over people like they don't exist.

Though I still think AP is slightly better than Shady and Charles.

AP is the best.

McCoy is great, but let's see him stay healthy for a full 16 this year before we put him in the discussion. Part of being the best is being lucky enough to not get hurt too often.

I would love to see what a Peterson, Martin, Charles, Forte could do with an offense like this.

Shyt if I was starting a team right now, give me anyone of those guys and I'd be cheesed up.

Granted if i was starting a team I think I'd go Doug Martin first by the slimmest of margins over everyone else. Just given age, wear and tear etc. But I wouldnt talk anyone out of any of those guys

The difference with Charles and McCoy is how the Eagles are running the quick snap offense. McCoy and Vick are both higher risk to injury from this and it's just an opinion with no facts or links

McCoy isn't close to the best.

Every year, I think that you just HAVE to get a little more knowledgeable about football. Yet, it never happens.
1,309 is his highest rushing total in the last 4 years. He has only gone over 1,000 two of those 4. To suggest he is at all close to being the best is ignorant. If he finishes top 3 this year then maybe you have an argument. He has played the Redskins, Chargers, and Chiefs. Seems like overreaction to me.

Did you add in his receiving totals? Or his 20 touchdowns in 2011? Go troll somewhere else. Making statements like this just makes you more of a joke around here than you already are.

Watching Forte run last week, all I could think is "smooth". He has a good mix of just about everything and just looks good running the ball. Not sure if he's in this conversation but he's close.

As for McCoy, I think he's the best back right now but as others have pointed out, it's a preference thing. There are plays in which every other NFL RB would've have been tackled for a loss but Shady turns it into a gainer. Shady has had some of the most impressive 1-2 yard runs I've ever seen. His YAC is obviously off the charts.

ADP was 9 yards from breaking the all time single season rushing record last year. Less homer from you would be fantastic.

And I believe ADP is #1. And McCoy #2. Hope this helps

Seriously? McCoy played under Andy "I never saw a pass play I could resist" Reid. The Eagles could be up 14 in the fourth and Reid would STILL call 6 straight passing plays.

Not sure where everyone's been...McCoy has been breaking ankles and runs like this for a couple of years now...he's just FINALLY getting the carries he should have been getting the whole time.

what happens when Vick goes down
I believe Foles is more than capable of running the offense. Does he have to ability to run like Vick, no. But you don't necessary need that for this offense to be successful.

....heck, at least Foles knows had to slide.

This.

The Chachinator places McCoy firmly behind AP, Charles. The Chachinator likes McCoy over Lynch. The Chachinator believes Martin and Foster are pretty close. The Chachinator also believes Richardson may make a case soon. The Chachinator is a Forte believer. The Chachinator has some faith that Chris Johnson can turn it on. The Chachinator is high on McCoy, the Chachinator is a bit nervous about McCoy staying healthy.

McCoy isn't close to the best.
The Chachinator disagrees because he is "close". The Chachinator believes the Seahawks are a fraud and will be exposed soon. The Chachinator believes the Seahawks are a very middling, possibly weak road team. The Chachinator believes your inflated tard bubble is about to pop.
