I saw a little note somewhere that McD will be calling the plays in Denver. Should I expect about the same production from Jay and Marshall or will there be a possibility of a more balanced attack?
in 2008 Jeremy Bates called the plays. He tried to mimic what the 2007 Pats were doing. Now that the 2007 Pat's playcaller is in charge, I'd expect similar results.Beef Ravioli said:I saw a little note somewhere that McD will be calling the plays in Denver. didnt he have 91 this last season?Look out for Eddie Royal...he could approach 100 catches.
Yeah, I guess he did, but I also think he caught 5 balls on Denvers last drive of the season too...Cutler kept throwing to him over and over...but all things being equal, I guess I should have said he will go over 100 catches...my bad.didnt he have 91 this last season?Look out for Eddie Royal...he could approach 100 catches.
With a couple exceptions, presumably:1. The original should outperform the imitation2. With Shanny gone, Cutler will be less of a golden boy and should throw fewer picks.3. Look for a really good PPR RB to emerge from the soup (screens, dumpoffs, etc.)in 2008 Jeremy Bates called the plays. unclear. McDaniels has retained Bobby Taylor (RB coach) and Rick Dennison (OL coach and run game coordinator) from Shanahan's staff. The pieces are still in place.Remember - Denver, as a team, averaged 4.8 YPC, 2nd in the league, and 1862 yards, good for 12th, despite the fact that they wend thru 7 backs and had at least two games where they completely abandoned the run due to injury. Should the D get any better (they've almost got to, right?) one could hope for a better run/pass ratio than we saw in 2008, which could make Denver a top 10 running team again.I'm not saying DENRB1 is gold like the old days, but still it's a situation that bears watching.So...don't expect much out of the Denver running game anymore?
Not sure if that'll be the case.Ron_Mexico said:bye bye Scheffler.
1. maybe. Who knows. Bates adapted what McJosh did in NE to the Broncos personnel - who knows what McJosh will do.2. Cutler would throw fewer picks if he had a viable, consistent run game (i.e. healthy backs) and if he could learn to not force things so much. I would hope McJosh could help with that.3. agreed, and I'm gonna guess right now that Hillis is that guy. With a couple exceptions, presumably:1. The original should outperform the imitation2. I agree with the bye bye schef... you must be a hopeful owner?Benjamin Watson and Daniel Graham both great hands and decent speed at the TE spot.. did nothing under McDaniels and his spread formation.. what makes schef any different?Especially given the fact that they have Marshall/Moss... Royal/Welker.. Stokley/Gaffney... the pieces are in place for a shefless Denver. Not sure if that'll be the case.Ron_Mexico said:bye bye Scheffler.
When did Watson develop great hands and Graham develop decent speed? Watson catches a little more than 50% of the passes and Graham ran a 4.64 coming out of college. Seven years ago. He's now 31. Scheffler, on the other hand, has both decent speed and hands. And he's 3 inches taller at 6'6". He seems like the perfect guy to send over the middle. Also, Watson did have 92 targets in 13 games in 2006 under McDaniels, a full season pace of 113. Maybe if he had caught more than 53% of Brady's passes that year, the trend would have continued.I agree with the bye bye schef... you must be a hopeful owner?Benjamin Watson and Daniel Graham both great hands and decent speed at the TE spot.. did nothing under McDaniels and his spread formation.. what makes schef any different? Not sure if that'll be the case.Ron_Mexico said:bye bye Scheffler.

when healthy (which hasn;t been alot) scheffler is alot better receiver than those two guys. I would be surprised if they phased him out if he is full speed. What? They were 12th in rushing this year, 9th in 2007, 8th in 2006, and 2nd in 2005.So...don't expect much out of the Denver running game anymore?
I think Scheffler will be the 3rd option in the passing game, I'd be shocked if Stokley outproduced him, hell Stokley might not even be a Bronco next year. That was a good point about Watson's hands. If he had as good of hands as Scheffler has, he may have been a 1,000 yard TE one of those years. Also, in 07' alone Watson had at least 5 dropped TD passes, although I'm not exactly expecting a 50-TD year out of Cutler.I'm not saying Scheffler will become a top notch TE, but I wouldn't be surprised if the switch from Shanny to McDaniels helps more than it hurts. I'd be comfortable with him as my TE1 if I missed on on a top-5 guy. He'll probably stop losing snaps to the Nate Jacksons of the world with Shanny gone. When did Watson develop great hands and Graham develop decent speed? Um. I was referring to the new coaching staff, which hasn't exactly featured the RB in their scheme. Whether or not that has to do with available talent is up for debate. What? They were 12th in rushing this year, 9th in 2007, 8th in 2006, and 2nd in 2005.So...don't expect much out of the Denver running game anymore?
