Neither are under contract beyond this season. Both have their positives and negatives. McNabb is the more accomplished QB but seems to be having one of his worst statical seasons and just got a vote of no confidence by his head coach. Vick is younger and seems to be rejuvenated, but will he continue on his current pace?

Assuming there's football in 2011 and your team needs a franchise QB, who would you rather see your team sign? Are either worth a big money contract?

Vick and it's not even close. Never would have said that at the beginning of this season. Truly amazing the direction that these 2 guys are heading in.

I decided to make a poll because I was listening to Philly talk radio tonight and they were speculating whether or not McNabb is playing his way out of his next (last?) big money contract. Obviously the calls were biased against him and many callers were viewing his recent benching as validation for Reid trading him within the division. I also realized barring any extension by the Eagles, Vick would also be a free agent and he and McNabb could be competing for a contract from the same teams.I wanted to try to get a national opinion on their level of confidence between the two.

I think it depends on the situation.

Vick has the advantage in terms of age (3 1/2 years) and mileage (66 games), but I think McNabb would be a better fit for teams with a solid offensive line who just need a "game manager" type of quarterback. McNabb would be better at playing the Trent Dilfer/Brad Johnson role than Vick would.

Having said that, there are only a few teams that could get by with a game manager right now. The Redskins are not one of those teams. Their defense isn't very good and they don't have much talent on offense. They need a playmaker like Vick more than they need a game manager like McNabb.

Your premise is flawed. Michael Vick will re-sign with the Eagles.
Certainly a possibility...but then we need another poll...McNabb or Kolb?Philly will not be able to resign both Vick and Kolb. My money's on Kolb getting the contract, but not much of my money right now.

being trusted less (or maybe conditioned less) than rex grossman is a BIG MINUS.
There's a LOT more to that story than the face value of Shanny's comments. McNabb has been a let down as a 'Skins fan to a degree, however don't underestimate how truly awful that o-line is. Nobody's going to look good behind that line. This ruined anything that Campbell could have done last year either - he was getting hit on 3-step drops before he could even release the ball! The same thing is happening this year because of how bad the interior o-line is. Funny thing is, McNabb vs. Vick may well be one decision the 'Skins will make this offseason.

Vick. PLEASE!!!

Imagine Vick, AP, Harvin, Rice and Shank? Fastest, most difficult team to defend in the NFL.

PLEASE!!!

Kolb's under contract through next season. The Eagles will need to make a determination after that. Vick meanwhile could be gone after this year. I'm kinda surprised more people aren't voting for McNabb with his proven track record. Do people have that much confidence Vick can sustain his current level of play? Or are people more scared off by McNabb's current, um, lack of stability in DC?Will a team give McNabb a multi-year, big money deal after the DC Debacle (or at least what's shaping up to be)? Certainly not laying the entire mess at his feet, but I think he's losing some credibility around the NFL.

True, but it's not likely the team resigns Vick to a big contract AND keeps Kolb on a 1 year deal. If they decide to resign Vick, they'll be trading Kolb...not the same as being a FA, but available none-the-less.

Given Vick's debt his only choice is to make himself an asset and take the most money he's offered in FA. Unless Kolb plays again this year and bombs he's the QB. With football being uncertain for next season no way the Eagles extend him for what would be a high price and risk him not even playing and coming back a year older. There's so many reasons he won't be an Eagle next year....and it's both parties that wouldn't do this IMO
