Not sure how this isnt a bigger story. If they burned "Quit The Eagles" or "We Don't Want You As Our QB", this would have been all over ESPN and NFLN.

Next time someone bashes Eagles fans just remember that there are DBags all over the NFL Map

Your comment is true, but I'm not sure that the population density is equivalent in all NFL cities. Plus, I don't know how many other cities have had stadium jails or cheered temporary paralysis.

So, man's lawn is vandalized. His wife and his young daughter in the house. The persons affiliated are obvious Cards fans perpetrating a criminal action. Like the article says, that is scary stuff when you consider the race issue involved with the victim. And the first five responses are how Eagles fans are bad?

Perspective?

Great Eagles fans suck, so let's not care when something like this happens.

Police: Men burned Cards message into Eagles QB's lawn

The Arizona Republic

The Cardinals fans who left diesel fuel messages in the lawn of Donovan McNabb's Chandler home also left something else - a box with a postage sticker that listed the suspect's name and address.

The two men, Rex Perkin, 37, and Ryan Hanlon, 28, were arrested Saturday around 6 p.m., for using the fuel to kill the grass in the Philadelphia quarterback's lawn and leave the messages., "Go Cards," "Go Kurt," and "I (heart) AZ."

Police said the pair admitted to dousing the grass midnight Saturday, the day before the Arizona Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC championship.

But the story actually started two days before, when McNabb came home to his house in the Ocotillo neighborhood on the Thursday to find a Cardinals flag hanging from a tree in his yard. The quarterback found the prank amusing and left the flag hanging in the tree, Favazzo said.

When McNabb came home late the next night, he saw the cardboard box that the vandals made into a makeshift sign - "Go Cards" was written on one side and "Beat Philly" on the other. Again McNabb brushed it off, but when he woke up early the next morning on the day of the game, he smelled diesel fuel and called police.

"Police did a very, very quick investigation," said Sgt. Joe Favazzo, a Chandler police spokesman. Officers quickly spotted the postage sticker on the box with Perkin's name and address. They went Perkin's home, where police arrested him at about 6 p.m. when he admitted to the prank and outted his co-worker, Hanlon. Perkins wore a Cardinals cap in his booking photo.

Hanlon turned himself in at the police station after officers called him on the phone.

The two were booked and cited for criminal damage. The diesel fuel caused an estimated $2,000 of damage to the lawn

I can't speak for anyone else, but I was responding to the specific comment that "all fans suck (sic)" made by someone who apparently is a Philly fan. :banned:

what i took from this is that philly fans should have held hands and sung kumbyah... the anti philly fan stuff is the lagest bunch of dogshi t ever. i ride from CT to Va for work all the time and listen to the same amount of whining from each home team sports radio as we hear at philly... get over it. I am tired of hearing about philly fans just like i am tired of hearing about TO. Get a story to cover, stop sweating the small stuff.

keep replying to this thread if you really care about this.... zzzzzzzz

High school level prank my ###... there's no tolerance for things like this. When things are all said and done IT'S A GAME. We choose to bet on it, we choose to make it more then it is. It's not a huge deal, but let's say the fire got out of control and the house went off... it would then be a bigger story. These guys get enough flack from the fans on the field, they're should be peace at home. NFL fans really need to change their way of thinking and remember their human beings first...

When I was watching Willis McGahee being carted off during the game I heard a Pittsburgh fan on top of the tunnel yell "You F'n suck Willis"... at that point I was just like wow... people are nuts.

That's what I heard too.

no doubt destroying the guy's lawn was a #### move, but I think I need to see a 'GO KKKARDS!' before I bite on the race baiting.

:coffee:

Perhaps this generates some empathy for McNabb in the Philly community. That would be nice.
You mean that same Philly community that voted him the greatest Eagles QB of all time? Yeah, everyone hates him in Philly
So McNabb > Jaworski and Cunningham? Whoopee. What else are they going to say in the face of 5 NFC championship games?I didn't say "everyone hates him in Philly". If you think that Philly fans as a group treat McNabb with the respect he deserves, we disagree.

Exactly. It's not like they burned a cross in his yard. They didn't burn anything, they just poured diesel fuel on the grass to kill it in the shape of a message that also was not related to race.Leaving behind a box with your name and address on it is just comical. Just shows how dumb you have to be to pull the prank in the first place. Dumb enough to leave your name behind.

Obviously, you are the audience that ESPN targets. Someone who knows very little and will believe everything. Did you know the moon is made of cheese? The Eagles fan base is really awful. Every game is sold out, there is 50,000 that are on a so called waiting list to have the opportunity to get a season ticket (wishful thinking) and you will not live long enough to see them have trouble selling out a playoff game ie.. SD, AZ, Minny but whatever.. as long as ESPN dusts off the "they throw snow balls at Santa", they HAD a jail in their stadium... dolts like you will buy it.Good luck in the stock market!

Cleveland fans cheered their own unconscious QB (Couch). Didn't they do it twice? Dunno. Jets fans cheered an injured Chad Pennington...to name 2 others. Sucks, but does happen elsewhere. Thought I had read about Chicago fans cheering an injured Emmitt Smith. Couldn't find it though. As for the jails, other NFL teams contacted the Eagles about how to set one up. Others do have a "jerk" hotline for fans to report trouble. And the Jets had to hire additional security to control the home fans.

As for respect for McNabb, yes he gets booed when he sucks. But few other athletes in Philly are cheered louder when he's on his game. But keep a few things in perspective, it was he coach who moved up in the draft in '07 to use their first pick on a new QB. It was his coach that benched him at halftime of a 3 point game...and had an assistant do the dirty work. Face it, the Eagles were one good Kevin Kolb led drive away from getting rid of McNabb. If Kolb had played well against the Ravens he would have certainly started that Thanksgiving game. McNabb's contract was structured so that '08 would be his last year in Philly. And its the organization that has so far refused to give him a new deal. One he's been asking for for a while now. And all of that is the organization's doing, not the fans. All the fans do is cheer when you're good and boo when you suck.

Hey, at least Philly fans didn't boo our National Anthem.

ETA: Cleveland fans also cheered Derek Anderson when he went down with a knee injury. And they booed Labron James. ESPN just doesn't continually mention those incidents every time they do a Cleveland highlight.

Unfortunately, it's all true. It is like the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland catching on fire. You will NEVER be able to live it down. You have to own it as something  that happened to your town. Sorry 'bout your darn luck...

Karma is a evil biotch. Perhaps these idiots just destroyed their team's Cinderella dreams...

The racism angle here is stupid but not altogether unexpected either.

:goodposting: Whenever I hear someone talk about Cleveland, the first thought that comes to my mind is that their river caught on fire.

Whenever I hear someone talk about Philly fan, I think of a bunch of fight loving ruffians who booed Santa Claus, and of course the Michael Irvin incident.

Whenever I hear someone talk about Cowboy fan, I think of how they booed the national anthem and have been hating on America since 9/11.

Whenever I hear someone talk about Lion fan, I laugh.

etc.

Wouldn't be so bad if it were even remotely accurate. There's a dozen threads in here telling the real story behind the Santa booing....go look one up.

While the crime was moronic and childish, I find it hilarious that he was allowed to keep his Cards hat on for the mugshot. The cops must have been excited about the win!

Exactly. And Dallas fans booing our National Anthem was far worse. That alone should strip them of the title of "America's Team". "America's Team" shouldn't have fans that boo the Anthem.
