Adam Schefter reported on Total Access that the Saints have been trying to find a way to get Adrian McPherson on the filed after his struggles adjusting to the offense as a QB. He has begun to work out as a WR and kick returner.
And, Martin is older than most realize (36 years old) since he was a rookie in 1996.http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/MartJa00.htmJaime Martin was signed to be the backup, and should easily win the job. He hasn't been in camp so far for "personal reasons". He was expected to return some time today.
Can fifth round picks be called busts? I'd call it a flyer; he has only been built up so mightily by FF'ers; had like one year of college experience before being drafted. That said, I've never been too optimistic about his chances but wish him the best.Bust.

this sounds like the correct answer.i think it's just an excuse to get him on the field. everyone knows what a tremendous athlete he is. he's buried on the QB depth chart. part of the problem is his game experience. putting him on the field - in whatever capacity - keeps his focus on football. if something happens that he should somehow be the PR/KR then great. i doubt it considering lewis, stallworth, stecker, mcafee and the great reggie bush are slotted to that duty. it's just to settle him, i think.
