Not yet, I'll let you know. Obvioulsy Ginn owner's are already on notice of his dangers so I don't even need to go there.is there anyone else we should be beware of? maybe i missed the ted ginn owners beware, and sidney rice owners beware threads.
not too many fat WRs in the NFL. Mike Williams is the only one that I am aware of.Per rotoworldRobert Meachem showed up to Saints minicamp out of shape. He also tweaked an ankle over the weekend. "He's got a long ways to go," coach Sean Payton said. "A receiver's got to be able to run all day."
What the hell are you waiting on? I dropped him 2 days before the draft!I'll be sure to drop him a-sap.
Why didn't they draft Forrest Gump?"A receiver's got to be able to run all day."
Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem confesses that he reported to the team's rookie minicamp out of shape. "It's not disappointing," Meachem told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "It's frustrating, because you know what you can do, and it's kind of hard to show the coaches what you can do when you can't give your fall." He blamed his poor conditioning on the time he spent visiting with teams prior to the NFL draft.
That's really got to be one of the dumbest excuses I've heard. Even if it was the case that he got wined and dined he shouldn't use it as a crutch.from fanball

SHHHHHHH I haven't had my draft yet and want him to slide, stop putting out correct info please TIAHere's the whole article, which casts a better light on things. To pull one blurb from it and call the guy a bust in May is just moronic. Relax.
The article also says (bolded below) "Last year, Coston arrived in poor shape and struggled throughout the rookie minicamp."
Don't jump from a tall building just yet, Meachem owners.
Meachem out of shape at minicamp
Payton says top pick has 'long ways to go'

By Mike Triplett
Saints receiver Robert Meachem was down on himself Sunday after having the worst kind of welcome-to-the-NFL experience during rookie minicamp.
The Saints' first-round draft pick admittedly arrived out of shape after falling behind in offseason workouts this spring. He then tweaked his left ankle Sunday morning and had to head to the training room.
"It's not disappointing. It's frustrating, because you know what you can do, and it's kind of hard to show the coaches what you can do when you can't give it your all," said Meachem, who said he did well in spurts Saturday but fatigue led to inconsistency.
Meachem said part of the reason he fell behind this spring was that he had nine pre-draft visits with NFL teams, each of which seemed to include a fancy meal or two.
He also said the tempo was intense during Saturday's two outdoor practices, even during the walk-through portion, because every rookie and tryout player was eager to make an impression on the coaches.
"Coach (Sean Payton) had to tell us to slow down, it's just a walk-through. But everybody's trying to make the team, so our minds are going 100 miles per hour, our bodies are going 100 miles per hour," said Meachem, who said he wasn't bothered by the heat after growing up in Oklahoma and playing at Tennessee. "I don't think the heat had so much to do with it, just that you're pushing yourself to another gear and another level."
Payton was not overly kind or critical when evaluating Meachem. He warned that everyone on the team needs to catch up with their new teammates, who have been in the Saints' offseason conditioning program for two months.
"Well, he's got a long ways to go," Payton said of Meachem, who is listed at 6 feet 2 inches, 214 pounds. "The one thing I don't want to do is tell him something that isn't true. You try to encourage all these guys. They're young, and they've got a lot of work ahead of them. And yet, they need to understand that what you're criticizing them about is constructive criticism to help them get better.
"You know, a receiver's got to be able to run all day -- and he needs to drop a lot of weight to get back into the playing shape we saw on film. I'm sure he'll work hard at doing that. He's going to have to if he wants to compete with the group he's going to be in at minicamp."
Later, Payton again emphasized that point, saying, "Those guys he's going to compete against are a lot further along right now. A lot."
Meachem is expected to battle Terrance Copper, Devery Henderson and David Patten among others for the No. 2 receiving job behind Marques Colston.
He said he's comfortable with the abbreviated version of the playbook that has been installed so far. For now, he is just learning one receiver position.
Colston certainly can be an inspiration to his young teammate. Last year, Coston arrived in poor shape and struggled throughout the rookie minicamp.
Meachem said Colston offered some encouragement Saturday and Sunday.
"He talked to me, and he told me he probably got in his best shape during OTAs (offseason training activities)," Meachem said. "And for me, I'm going to try and get in my best shape during OTAs as well. That gave me a little confidence."
Meachem said receivers coach Curtis Johnson was less consoling. He said Johnson has kept a relentless pace at practice, but he also mentioned that fast tempo as his favorite part of the weekend.
"(Johnson) expects you to run a 4.3 on every play," Meachem said, referring to a sprinters' 40-yard dash time. "As soon as we step across those lines, he's already on you. They just want to see how tough you are, how mentally tough you are."
Meachem said he tweaked his ankle when he took a wrong step Sunday morning. He was hoping to return for Sunday afternoon's practice and today's final indoor practice, but the practice sessions are closed to the media, and it was unknown if he was able to return.
Meachem admitted that he feels extra pressure being the Saints' top draft pick. He wants to show the coaches that they made the right choice, and he also wants to live up to the lofty expectations of himself, his family and friends.
"It's kind of frustrating, because when you think about it, you've got a lot of people back home wanting to see you do good," Meachem said. "And for me to come in and not be in the shape that I was supposed to be in, for me, it's frustrating because I think I'm hurting them as well."
Beware of UCS.. hes a rookie WR hater... which I agree w/ him, I also avoid 1st RD WR rookies until they prove themselves or are at good value. When does the Rice, Davis, Gonzo and Jarrett Threads come out; (I think most already know to avoid Ginn)Per rotoworldRobert Meachem showed up to Saints minicamp out of shape. He also tweaked an ankle over the weekend. Why do you think the other underclassmen come out? Because they can't wait to get started on charity work with the United Way? They're all looking to cash in. Good for them. What, do you actually believe it when a player says, "Well, I've accomplished what I wanted to do in college, and I wanted to compete against the best. The NFL has been a dream of mine since I was a child, blah blah blah....."?At least he's not disappointed.from fanball

looks like he's getting back on track.(KFFL) Larry Holder, of the Biloxi Sun-Herald, reports New Orleans Saints WR Robert Meachem has dropped to 218 pounds and would like to lose another 10 pounds. "I've been having to ride the bike for... 30 minutes a day (also exercising in the pool). I've dropped a lot of weight. I dropped almost 11 pounds the first day," Meachem said.

Riding the bike for 30 minutes a day does not let you drop 11 pounds in one day. I could see that.. if you been a athlete all your life; you can easily lose 10+ pounds in a week and still be healthy; especailly if he gained that 10 pounds in a months time span in the 1st place.
