Now talking with Todd McShay--
* Hearing that Oakland may take CJ2, but not sure if he believes it. Al Davis is leaning towards CJ2 but trying to figure out what to do at QB. McShay thinks they should take Russell. McCown or CPepp are possibilites to bring in at QB. If they bring in a vet, they will likely take CJ2. If they do not bring in a vet, they could take CJ2 at 1.01 and then take Trent Edwards in the 2nd. That would not be good value, but if they have no other QB by that point, they have to reach a bit. He would be a good fit with Oakland, but might not be a big upgrade over Walter.
The Lions options are limited by what they have done this offseason and in the past (QB and WR). The only option they would love would be to trade down. They would have trouble taking a skill player, but they do like Russell quite abit more then Quinn. They would have to look at CJ2.
Grouping Russell and Quinn with the other QBs from last year, how would they compare? Quinn would rank last among the 5, Russell and Cutler would be close to each other, Young and Leinart wuld be the top 2. He does not consider Quinn as a top QB prospect.
Ginn-- He ran well, but hurt his chances to be a top 10 pick. Scouts were not impressed. He was unable to finish the workout due to his ankle injury. One scout was impressed that he was able to run so well, even with the injury. He belongs in the 1st round, but will not ever be a #1 WR and maybe not a #2 WR. His value is with his retuan ability.
New discipline policy and its affect on the draft-- It has always been a big deal, but there will be players that fall in the draft because of character issues. Troy Smith, Marcus Thomas, Tank Tyler Brandon Merriweather could all fall because of past trouble. With so many talented players, why take a chance?
