Merrill Hoge on Young/Leinart (1 Viewer)

Anyways, By bust I mean Vince Young will never have any of the following:A 4,000 Yard Passing seasonA 30 Passing Touchdown SeasonA 95 or above Quarterback RatingA 65% or higher Comletion Percentagean 8.0 Yard or higher Yards/Pass Attempt
Not reaching those expectations in no way constitute being a bust. You've dug yourself into a hole here and are now reaching for ways of justifying your accusations. He was drafted to lead his team to wins and hopefully a championship. He wasn't necessarily drafted to do any of things you've listed.
No kidding. With this criteria, it's entirely possible that VY will start the majority of the games for 10+ years, have a record above .600, a couple Lombardi's, a seat in the HOF, and Matt Jones will consider him a bust.

Anyways, By bust I mean Vince Young will never have any of the following:

A 4,000 Yard Passing season

A 30 Passing Touchdown Season

A 95 or above Quarterback Rating

A 65% or higher Comletion Percentage

an 8.0 Yard or higher Yards/Pass Attempt

Hell, I'd settle for

3,600 yards, 25 TD's, 92+ QB rating, 63% completion percentage, 7.5 YPA....

Those are numbers I'd expect from a top 5 pick QB.

Again rushing plays no role when analyzing VY?

Clearly someone doesn't get sarcasm (Manning Leinart). Anyways, I was surprised that Young ran as well as he did, but he wasn't impressive throwing the ball and alot of credit in their 8-8 record goes to the defense. He did alright. But I still think he's a bust, and only time will tell. Also, I bet his rushing yards this season will be his career high. Finally, I'm not a jaguars fan, I'm a New England Giants fan, durrrr.
DUUURRRRRRR :own3d:

Those are ridiculous, and seem particularly geared to your side by the fact that you ignore rushing yards and rushing TD's. Fisher and the Titans are a run first team, not a pass happy team, so 4,000 passing yards is very unlikely. But by those standards, even someone like Troy Aikman comes very close to being a bust. In 12 seasons, he hit 65% completion twice, and QB rating 95 or above once, otherwise he missed every target on the list. He never got close to 4,000 yards becaus ethe offense centered on the run.Take into account rushing stats, and Vince will hit 3,600 total yards and 25 total TD's more than once in his career. He may even get to 63% a few times. Those numbers are more realistic, and they would likely lead to a pretty good season for the Titans. All I can say is that so far, Vince is anything but a bust.

"I wouldn't take Young on the first day as a QB."

"I wouldn't take Leinart in the first round."

"Cutler is the only QB I'd take in the first round, but not in the top 10 and the Titans are absolute fools if they don't take him at pick #3 because they might win the Super Bowl in 2008 with Cutler leading them."

On sportscenter just now.
he wasn't 100% on his prediction, but I struck a line through the parts he missed

Re-reading this through from the start...I might have to start paying very close attention to guys Hodgy doesn't like at all that are generally being hyped come draft time. He's had some pretty good "moments of clarity" in the last 3-4 years.
