Message Board Nomination Thread (1 Viewer)

Status
Not open for further replies.

David Dodds

Administrator
This thread is for Message Board NOMINATIONS ONLY. Each poster gets up to 250 words to state his case on why he should be selected. 17 spots, plus 3 reviewers will be selected. The 18th spot will be filled by Tick who won the event last year. He will serve as team captain and place the 18 MB selections into the appropriate contests.

Full discussion of the events, etc in this post

Ground rules for this thread:

- Each person can post just one time in this thread. That post is to state your case for why YOU should be on the team. All other posts will be deleted from this thread.

- The 250 word limit will be strictly enforced. Words, links, etc all count.

- Bold, colors, links are all acceptable. Font size cannot be altered though (we want these posts readable).

- Discussion of best candidates, etc needs to be in another thread. We want this area to remain clean with just posts for people being considered.

- If you do not post in this thread, you will not be selected.

- We will lock down all posts at Midnight ET on Tuesday, June 13th. All posts can be edited up until that point.

- We will announce the decisions on June 15th. Our decisions are final.

For the last twelve years of every day checking into what's going on with the NFL. I do this for hours not minutes a day. I truly believe that doing what I call my homework and reading and taking in as much of the best information I can find about the NFL and its players gives me my best chance at succeeding at all levels of FF.

I participate in a thousand or so SL's and mocks at Xpertsports.com and Antsports all year around. I feel its extremely important to do this as it keeps me sharp as a tack as far as where and when players are being drafted.

The thread I started below I feel is very important to keep a close eye on. How you feel about it will impact your draft and team. Lot's of leagues and SL's are drafting allready, hence the importance.

http://snipurl.com/rena

I could get into the profits I make every year or the work I put into a draft pick before I make it (chances are I know his freshman HS stats etc) if i have the time. All the different FF strategies I have come to know. Or the excellent judge of talent I am and how what I see with my eyes is so important to me. I also put a great deal of thought into what other players and coach's say about each other talent wise

The late night phone calls to friends like Bob Harris at 4:00am Sunday nights to find out if he heard anything about such and such a player who is questionable to play. If Bob does not know for sure then nobody does.

I play high stakes FF and love top competition and have been a factor in just about every league I have been in. I honestly feel that you beating me would be as good an accomplishment for you as some would think I beating you would be. You certainly won't find anyone out here who tries harder or does more research. I am a very formidable opponent.

DonnyT33 FootballGuy

Bring it, I want you guys!

Thanks for giving me the chance to win this thing, :D

Well that's my take and my chance at being selected to beat the Staff at their own game.

End of my try at nomination which i am sure will be edited more than a few times before next Tuesday.

David I liked the 500 words better I think I cut out about 200 words and hope its not over by many more..if so I will cut it down more before the deadline. Just too tired right now to check it again..later

I would really hope that my English, grammar and any typos here won't work against me as I gave this my best chance and would love a drafting spot in this thing.

Don

250 words? Not sure I can do that. I checked one of my draft write-ups and it had over 2000 words (you can most of mine here in the pool). I wont link to it as it would definitely put me over the 250 word limit.

Ive been a Shark Pool regular for quite a while. I continue to contribute year in and year out. Each league I commit to I give 100%. Also, I am very good at FF. I dont win all of my leagues (im in 15), but im about 80% of leagues in playoffs and over 50% of that past the first round.

If you are looking for someone to be very competitive, knowledgeable, committed, whom follows through, and is a regular, Im your guy.

Thanks,

JAA

I'm not going to get into post-quoting and (excessive) self-aggrandizing here. I believe the staff and denizens of this board are already privy to my contributions to the Shark Pool, both from informational and strategic standpoints. My participation in the MBSL and SSL drafts for the past three years, along with my top-200 finish in the "FFTOC" contest 2 years ago are evidence of my dedication and acumen in these draft formats. In addition, having served as a recapper 2 years ago, I think the staff are collectively aware of my writing style and ability.

Simply put, while there are a bunch of VERY good posters on these boards, I believe you'll be hard-pressed to find 19 that are capable of exceeding my potential to provide substantive information in an entertaining and eminently readable style. As this is surely what you're after, I believe I would be an excellent addition to the message board team. I think my repeated mention in the "Message Board Dream Team" thread also bears that out. I am willing to participate in any format and any capacity you gentlemen see fit, and I sincerely thank you for your consideration.

Oh, and Dodds for the bracelet in '06, Eagles rule, and metal up your ### !

Let me throw my hat into the ring.

I've been a board member for awhile, and have particiapated in three surivors last year, 3 survivors this year, so far.

Been playing in my local leagues for 12 years.

Last year in SSL4 I lasted until week 6.

In MBSL2 I lasted until week 12 and had the 8th highest scoring team out of 64 in all of the MBSL's.

In Captain Hooks Quorum Survivor League, I won the double title, being sole survivor and total points champion.

I drafted in 3 leagues so far this spring/winter, WSL2, PSDL and SSL3, with no time-outs on my clock.

After SSL3 was over, I gave ratings and grades on every squad and would have no problem giving indepth analysis of my rationale and strategy.

I don't post a ton in the shark pool but add my insights where I feel it's best with regards to my local team the Lions, and my favorite team, the Chargers, as I keep up with them the most.

It would be an honor and my skills would be best used in league A - survivor ppr, if chosen.

Been playing for what seems like forever, 15-16 years, and rarely ever lose redraft leagues. I've only won one auction league, never won a survivor league, and have been "eh" in dynasty and IDP leagues.

I played in FFWebmasters against Greg Kellogg, TC, Emil Kadlec, Ryan houston, Mike Nazarek, Kevin Kidd, Lenny Pappano, David Grey, Kirk Bouyelas, Tom from Guru, Tom from Fantasy MVP, Phil from ProFantasySports, James from CNNSI and I'm forgetting someone as I haven't had my coffee yet(sorry to them). Played two years, lost in the championship game each time and have the best "career" record in that league's history.

Last year, I got to play with Bob Harris and some other folks in another experts league. Me and Bob lost to Greg from Cooridinator.com but had alot of fun.

I've played in numerous other type "expert leagues" like sportsbuff, smallworld, and loserchallenge. I've played in unnamed "expert leagues" just as friends with no public scores/results posted.

I love the notion of beating some "expert" and don't mind the :bag: if I talked it up then got whooped pretty good. I think I'd represent the MB very well. That said, I've had alot of opportunity to do so and would understand if someone else should also learn how fun it is to play against "experts". It's a fun experience I don't really want to cheat someone out of but also want to play.

I'd also like to be considerred for the 3 "reviewer" spots or to contribute in some manner.

Haven't counted words

I'll just stick to the points here:

- I have been playing FF for about 8 years now.

- Compete in approx 5 leagues per year.

- Win at least 1 league per year.

- Make playoffs in over half consistently.

- Have never finished last in any league, kind of odd fact. Would think it would happen just from mere probability by now.

- Post and present strong arguments on regular basis to message board.

- I have the time, capacity and desire to complete any and all tasks associated with the contest.

Recent Championships:

I've been known to win a championship or two in the past and against some of the best players in the world. MBSLI championship 2005, SSLIV H2H championship 2005, Ron's FBG1 championship 2005 and WebPound championship 2005 are the 4 out of 9 leagues I played last year. 9 championships to my credit provide some level of evidence that I can compete. But I've had my share of failures to be remembered as well. Last year's first try at in this league did not leave me with a good feeling and I would like to atone for that disappointing performance.

Why chose me?:

I will provide timely well written analysis which will serve to help educate subscribers by allowing my strategies and thoughts on how to draft to win a championship guide them along a path to success. IOW-it will be an asset for subscribers which is the purpose of this competition.

Choose me, choose me:

While the importance of providing a meaningful vehicle for feedback on fantasy football is not lost it should be fun as well. And it will be a lot of fun when I win this event and announce to the world why I am the leader and ruler of all fantasy football. :P

Of course if I should not win it will no doubt be due to some untimely injury to my key players. Or not. :D

And at the end of the day I will be a better fantasy player for participating.

My thanks for your consideration.

With the birth of my 1st born Simon, my ability to contribute to the boards was hindered. Now that he's a year old, he's taken over the household chores, so I'm back in full swing! :P

I generally can be found commenting in strategy, sleeper, and dynasty threads. I enjoy reviewing drafts and posting opinions on up and coming players and rookies.

If this league is about competition, I want to be involved. Events like these, sharpen my skills for when I need it the most... On the Clock. Who wants a league full of guppies? You certainly don't learn anything from it. When the 4 guys that you would consider with your next pick consistently are taken in front of you and then the 2 or 3 after that, you know you're in for a fight. By associating with the Message Board regulars, that's exactly what I've found. Competition to prepare for the big battles.

I also don't mind sharing my strategies and opinions afterwards, just don't use them against me in Vegas or Chicago. :P

In closing, I'll contibute with my 2 Breakout Players of the Year:

Matt Jones and Laurence Maroney

Peace out FBG brothers.

I'd love consideration for the Survivor league and I Look forward to following the draft regardless!!!! The FBG Survivor leagues to me is the Laboratory where you can REALLY adjust your rankings and projections for players as you analyze and go through a draft, all with exceptional Football Minds - THE Meat and Potatoes of Offseason Fantasy Football.

I joined two Survivor leagues (MBSL and QSL) last year after watching from the sidelines. Observing the Survivor threads from afar is one thing but, I think most people who have participated would call their 1st one an education and a wake up call. MBSL1 was my education (week 4 ouster) and QSL I was runner up.

Yeah I've won my share playing over 10+ years but, I'm not going to toot that horn, I'm a firm believer that if you're playing in leagues that are competitive, the Luck factor is going to be sky high given that you're not going to be handed anything. And That's where the Survivor prep comes into play in discovering and finding Value Opportunities.

Just completed SSL4 and recieved mostly 'A' grades from my peers That was a great draft with a good group of timely, considerate drafters which I think helps the continuity and information flow of a draft which, in turn leads to better write-ups and keeps the interest factor high.

Where to begin...

David, CC, and Wood all know the name Gatorman. I was the first Survivor champion and have continued to be active in survivor leagues. In all of my survivor drafts I have been considered a favorite, and usually it is an untimely injury that derails my chances.

My FBG hilights as of late:

To Jason Wood: Nailing the Linehan to St. Louis pick

To CC Gray: Saving him from himself in Vegas. (I will not go into details here)

To David Dodds: One of the first people to write a freelance article for FBG before it became the norm.

Finally,

I do not wish to participate in the drafting. I really do not have the time, unless they are held on a monday or tuesday. I would like to do commentary.

Thanks you.

Gatorman

If the selection criteria entails selecting proven ff competitors the most convincing argument for selecting me is results oriented. I competed against almost every active staffer last year and finished ahead in almost every instance. If you were to take a composite record of my finishes it would be roughly 30-2 against FBG staff. (The specific leagues hilighted in my sig.)

If the selection criteria is that you're looking for innovative, successful ff strategy I believe this is my forte. I have a truly unique approach that emphasizes corporate risk management practices/philosophy. I know of nobody else that does this to the extent that I do. A lot of people talk about using risk, yet don't have the experience to quantify and/or incorporate it into their draft. Much of my success is due to this approach IMHO.

If your criteria is FBG contribution it probably goes without saying that I live on the boards. Additionally, I've done some writing for FBG on several occasions.

Thanks,

LHUCKS

P.S. - I am most interested in one of the team spots in drafts A or B.

I'd love to participate. Credential wise, I've been playing FF for 5 years. In that time, I've won one championship, finished second once, and made the playoffs every year but one in my local league. I've also participated in the SSL's, finishing in the top 4 in SSL4 two years ago, only to bow out around midway through in SSL1 last year. My SSL3 team can be found here:link

My major reasons for wanting to sign up are 1) despite the fact that I am more of a FFA guy, I love writing in general, and I think this would be a fun first foray into writing about something I greatly enjoy; and 2) I think it would be a blast to take part in a competition with some heavy hitters on the site and in the world of fantasy football.

Thanks for your consideration!

PICK ME! PICK ME!

20 reasons why I'm the man:*

1) I've been knocking heads in the Shark Pool since old yellar.

2) I've beaten Radballs, BostonFred, LHUCKs, Unlucky, and Tick in every survior league we've played in together.

3) I taught David Dodds how to play poker.

4) Joe Bryant comes to me for advice on buying/selling boats.

5) I edit Fullback Fro's rhymes - you should see how whack some of his 1st drafts are before I take them to the lab.

6) I told the fantasy football world that Travis Henry sucked years before he began sucking.

7) Assani Fisher PMs me when he's unsure whether to call/fold/raise.

8) Maurile Trembley is my apprentice.

9) Joe T stalks me.

10) I give Shick! timeouts.

11) Mr. Pickles is my butler.

12) Aaron Rudnicki was a nice guy until I taught him how to be rude and wear a lid.

13) Chase Stuart runs my fan club.

14) I turned Woodrow into Jason Wood.

15) I taught David Yudkin calculus. In Chinese. Naked.

16) I turned Sigmund Bloom onto Phish when he was caddying for me a few years back.

17) BassNBrew has a poster of me drafting over his bed.

18 I brought bagger to FBG from FFToday.

19) joffer has me on speed dial during WCOFF.

20) I'm not a whiny Pats fan.

I’d love a chance to participate. While I consume an enormous amount of football info every year, I can also add a bit of levity to the league. So while I will provide excellent commentaries and analysis, my expertise with bad horror films is sure to deepen the FBG knowledge base.

Reasons why I should be considered:

- My writing skills are excellent, and FBG published two of my articles.

- I was a FBG game reporter for a year.

- I co-hosted a fantasy football show on a 50,000 watt station in San Francisco (KNBR 680) for three years.

- I participated in a league last year frequented by many of the respected regulars here, including EBF, LHUCKS, radballs, etc.

- Finally, I should be considered because I can produce a custom pounding Techno anthem for this league.

Here is a link to one of my FBG articles.

Thank you for this opportunity, again. I may not have the most posts on these boards but the ones I have are usually very informative or clearly drunken babble. Also I have been around since the days of Ole Yeller and have been keeping everyone else up on any Iowa Hawkeye or Minnesota Viking news.

I was in four leagues last year and won three of them. I made the playoffs in the other despite losing Deuce McAllister for the year. I also had Anquan Boldin who was hurt for a while and had to start Todd Heap because I was out of FA moves. I drafted Kevin Jones in the 2nd round and started Mike Vick at QB. How did I win? I watched the waiver wire and took advantage of every opportunity. My favorite league is this one http://football6.myfantasyleague.com/2006/home/37366 . It is all smart FBGs and a great league.

I have tried to get into this challenge the last three years and feel I would have won each one. I honestly feel that I am among the elite in fantasty football. I am well written and will supply a great narrative about my picks. This will be done well before the deadline but still of high quality. Is the staff at FBGs afraid of bringining in someone who will dominate?

Thank you for your consideration.

I'm not going to post a resume or my accomplishments in FF because I just think that's in bad taste and I'm not sure anyone really cares what happened in the past. What I will say is that I am consistently either posting on the FBG forums when I have something to contribute or reading up on the valuable information found here. I'm proud to say that I'm a part of the FBG community and that if selected would do the best of my ability to represent the message board team.

This is my opportunity to defend my Survivor II title from 2004. I have been playing fantasy football for ten years in a number of leagues and differing varieties. I was also a part of the FBG Blogger team in its initial season of duty.

During the Blogger year, FBG’s offered an opportunity to the Bloggers to play in a Survivor format league. The team I drafted lost in the 2-week finals playoff for the $500.

The following year I earned an automatic bid into the next years Survivor league. This league was to use a new auction service that FBG’s wanted to try out. This was my first auction ever and at the end of the season my team Survived and won the $500 prize for winning the league.

Last year, I was forgotten and not asked to defend my championship. I have also authored a few freelance articles for FBG’s over the years. The one I am most proud of is linked right here Reality Football. There were supplemental threads discussing this theory and method but have been purged. My Survivor format record is near flawless and am looking forward to this format again. Two leagues, two finals appearances with one win. I should be considered for this new round of leagues and feel I would be an asset to the Message Board Goons. Thanks.

Simple resume:

- Been on Footballguys.com for a number of years

- Footballguys.com is the only fantasy site I visit -- for content, updates, and poking fun at others

- Will be a subscriber for third season this year (first year was free due to being in MB vs. Staff I), and already purchased magazine for 2006

- Numerous contributions in the Shark Pool forum over the years

- Numerous contributions in the Assistant Coach forum over the years

- Member of MB vs. Staff I (2004), and if not for one drafting blunder (knocked out Week 5), I would have finished 3rd ( :wall: )

- Played in leagues that are re-draft, keeper, dynasty, auction, survivor, IDP, you name it -- I've played 'em all

- Play in a number of leagues each year (not as crazy as a few years ago)

- Compete against a number of FBG (staff and MB members) in various leagues each year

Would love another shot at the staff! Thanks for your time..

This contest (and commentaries) is more about writing than it is fantasy football, and my written commentaries on my previous survivor drafts stand on their own. Furthermore, my tiering of FFA posters as well as Deadly Animal Draft commentary demonstrated the range of people (and deadly animals) that I can critique. I also came in third place in the FFA Smack Off™.

I have written multiple articles here at FBG and have written articles elsewhere:

Stud TEs

Fantasy Football Risk

101 PPG

I have never been eliminated in the first week of a survivor contest. Sure I may have gone out in week 2 once and week 3 another time, but I had pot odds.

What I will bring to the table is a draft strategy that is unique and focused. What I hope to accomplish with this strategy is to show a different approach to the draft, how it does (or does not) work when playing against some of the top fantasy minds around, and to hopefully give the reader another idea of how to approach draft day.

There will be enough people selected who will take the latest version of the draft dominator and go down the list. Domo arigato Mr. Roboto…domo domo…domo domo. The message board team needs a contrarian.

What I am most proud of is that I survived the QB squeeze and lived to tell about it. Remember boys and girls, it is never too early to take Kyle Boller.

bagger out

I don't use the draft dominator, I rank 'em myself.

I have been coming here since it was cheatsheets.

I have dominated at the leagues I have participated in (my neighbor won't be inviting me back for this season, after I won the championship and $250 last year in my first season---like candy from a baby). I won $20 in the Bodog free football league last year and turned that into $80+ through the NFL playoffs.

I am dedicated enough to pay for and commish two leagues. I provide cash prizes for both leagues. I usually keep my participation to two dynasty leagues and a handful of others that provide prizes. This is because I prefer to stay active in those leagues I am an owner in. I doubt you will find anyone more dedicated.

I have participated in PPR, non-PPR, Dynasty, Redraft and IDP.

I will do a thorough analysis and write-up if I am chosen.

My name is James and I am 33 years old.

I am a Television Producer in Los Angeles.

I am currently in 3 Leagues; 1 for 5 years, the other for 6 years and my Illinois League is in its 10th year (I fly back every year for the Draft).

In those leagues I have won 4 Championships and made it to 7 Super Bowls

And as far as my commitment, researching skills and or education can I simply say...Samkon Gado.

My name is Rzrback77 and I am a Fantasy Football Addict. I recognized my addiction in my first season as I set a still-standing league record for losses. All the while, my league mates were amazed that I remained the most active owner. I sought help from league members and discovered footballguys.com. My memberships here have supplied valuable benefits, continually expanding my NFL and fantasy knowledge, as well as providing me valuable relationships with both staff and message board experts.

I have drafted in the SSLs, the MBSLs, the WSLs, and the PDSL. In 2005, I was the leading scorer (162 points more than 2nd place) in the 14 team SSL4 Reunion HTH. The above link provides all the league info.

Because of my frequent visits to the forums this Spring, I participated in the first ever PDSL Draft. The link provides the list of outstanding teams and the draft record. After the draft, I entered the rosters into the newly released Draft Dominator and my team ranked first in total team strength as well as considering only starters.

I appreciate the opportunity to apply for the footballguys.com message board team. If selected, I will give my best effort to continue the message board dominance. I will also submit a prompt and enthusiastic commentary on my draft strategy, as well as any necessary changes mandated by the draft. Message to the selection committee:

The Staff can’t compete,

Message Boarders DOMINATE.

Select me and lose!

Short and simple:

- In addition to being an active poster on these boards, I am an experienced FF player who has had success against tough competition in a variety of different formats.

- I have an independent outlook on FF and am not afraid to try bold strategies.

- I am a proven writer who has had several articles published on this website.

I'd like to play.

Though our personalities sometimes clash, I have nothing but respect for David and Joe's football acumen--not to mention the development of their website.

I'm qualified because my rankings last year beat David and Joe's in a head-to-head matchup.

I'm most useful to the other members of this forum when analyzing and calmly discussing football. This will be a tremendous arena for that activity, and I look forward to it.

I'm your man-I'm your man

If Mikey can't do it, nobody can!

I've been playing FF for about 14 years now, and I am a FF addict. I've been in Zealots, Z10 since the beginning trying to whip Rudnicki's butt and I live for any chance to compete against him. :boxing: I am also in a league with Bloom, CFA, which we like to call the "Best of the Best." I live for the competition, and there is nothing like playing against the best. Oh yea, please don't tell my wife about this. If she finds out I'm in another league, she may go off the deep end.

I'd love the shot.

I'm on this board everyday and me thinks its great, I was on this board prior to the change.

I'm not a fan of any NFL team, which gives me the luxury of being unbiased.

"I thought you hated that guy?" - Wife

"I did right up until I traded for him"

Reasons to choose me........

I have already influenced FB Guys bottom line: I missed the early bird special, so I paid full price for a FB Guys subscription and

also bought the Strategy Guide. That's more than 5 extra dollars in the coffers! ;)

I have more hair than Terry Bradshaw (..counting my chin and upper lip….)! :fro:

:penalty:

Seriously.....

Passionate Analytical Mind: Being an Engineer, my mind is analytical by nature, which fuels my passion for fantasy football. :nerd:

I always have fun!: Humor is strong medicine. Being serious is fine..........just not too serious!!

Fresh Meat: Discovered FB Guys a year ago, and am new to the boards this year.

Therefore: Fresh face, new ideas and something to prove. :bowtie:

Experience: 11 seasons of fantasy football with success from the beginning.

League champ in 25% of leagues, runner-up in 35%, playoffs in 80%. :football:

Writing: Training in technical writing (Engineer...).

Appeared as regular guest reviewer last season for the MNF vs. RAW competition held in the 360 Column on twnpnews.com.

For an example, click this link, scroll down to the MNF vs. RAW section, and see "Our word from Curtis J".

Redemption for 2005:

Last year, 4 of my 7 teams made league Superbowl. :D

But, I Lost all 4 superbowls and can't get that Buffalo taste out of my mouth.... :bag:

Now I'm extra motivated to win championships. :hot:

I'll give up emoticons cold turkey! :towelwave:

My name is Tiger Fan and I'd like to throw my hat into the ring....

While I don't possess the arrogance in my entire body that bagger or LHUCKS have in their pinky toes, I know I am better than those 2 clowns.I too was a top 5 finisher in the FFA Smack Off, so obviously my writing skillz are unquestioned. My

quoting my opponent's weak shtick then destroying it with my own verbal scud missle
method has been duplicated by many since then.Did I mention that I am one of the very few Yellow Board 4 digiters/Blue Board 3 digiters? That ought to get me in right there.
:sarcasm:My FF acumen is currently 100% focused on PPR leagues and specifically WCOFF. At my message board, we currently have a WCOFF thinktank, where some heavy WCOFF analysis and strategy discussion takes place. Some of the elite FF members of FBG such as the aforementioned Bagger and LHUCKS, plus radballs, JoeT, Gatorman, Winston Wolfe, and Football Fro can vouch for my in depth strategy analysis. Even Rudnicki is there.

Hi, I am Tat.

I am a 6'6" 230lb has been punter.

I wasn't good enough to make the pro's.

My Dad was though, and he split OJ's cheek (as most of you know)

I have good FF skills and am up to the task.

Do I get bonus points for not using 250 words?

I like to get straight to the point.

I've been playing Fantasy Football for 11 years and counting and have been in dozens of leagues with probably most of the old Huddlers (before the mass exodus) as well as sever FBG members. I've been in leagues from 10 man all the way to 20 man.

I've been told I'm one of the best drafters people have seen. I have an instinct about what other drafters will do and rarely misjudge an opponent. Now I'm not saying that all my players turn out to be gold and that I never lose, far from it. I misjudged several players in the past and will do so again. It's the nature of the beast in this hobby. However, I do my own projections and I stick to them.

As for contributions to the board, well you can find me in most Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles threads. Chicago because they're my favorite team, Philly because they're my hometown team.

I'll wrap it up with this: if you pick me, I'll be a extremely competitive and worthy opponent. I love to play FF and I love writeups in which I explain my thinking and reasoning behing each pick. I'm not quite as verbose as Magaw is, but I can get my general line of thinking down pretty concisely.

Thank you for your consideration.....

I won 10 games in Chake Leeg last year, while combining to win only 5 the previous 2 years before. So obviously, I'm improving. I owe it all to my innovative strategy of drafting Caddy Williams in rd 3, although I only did it because I'm a homer and I wanted to irritate that redneck jplvr who said I would take all Tampa players.

Anyways, I finished with a better record than tiger fan or bagger, so obviously I'm better FF player. Adjust your rankings accordingly.

Oh yea, if you want someone who will draft Stacey Mack and Trung Candidate (just wait till you see what Spurrier does with him!) at the round 2-3 turn, then jeep is your man

glllll

:lmao: You still can't grasp the whole point of the argument. My submission:

This is possibly the gayest display I've ever seen since I came to FBG's for one thread. Granted, I missed any previous such threads like this one, so maybe this is just par for the course.

I have dominated names like JoeT, Bagger, Gatorman, Tiger Fan, et al in Cakeleague the past 2 years running only to get blasted by the dreaded injury bug. I say dominated because my in season record has got to be in the 20+ wins to 5-6 losses. Scupper will be around later to try to dismiss this as draft position, but it's not easy drafting the best team in the league 2 years running out of 24 guys.

I don't need this to prove my worth, but if you need someone to dominate the draft only to be eaten alive by bad luck, I'm your guy.

Please note that when Capella brings up my horrific rounds 2 and 3 picks from the first year I drafted in a league with him, I still dominated him for the season. There was a last place, and it wasn't me.

It would be an honor to represent the FBG message board team if given the opportunity.

The following are some of my accomplishments from the 2005 season:

FESL Bravo - 1 Champion

WCOFF Main Event -

Finished 17th in scoring out of 720 teams in the regular season and 16th in the championship bracket (Team name Army of Darkness)

WCOFF Satellite Leagues – Competed in two of them, made the playoffs in both, and won one

Satellite 19

Satellite 16b

SSL 2 Champion

EBF Invitational Champion

GG Invitational Champion

I’ve already started doing my homework this year by drafting in the WSL 1, PDSL, SSL 1, SSL 5 IDP, Hyperactive Dynasty league, FIX Dynasty league, two Zealots rookie drafts, two EFSports rookie drafts, and two 2006 WCOFF Satellite leagues. I’m really prepared and ready to go for this year.

I post regularly in the Shark Pool giving opinions and occasionally backing them up with statistical analysis. For the really hardcore drafters, I helped develop the offseason survivor leagues, the WSL and the PDSL. I also contribute as a blogger news reporter and my writing style can be viewed during my critique of my team in last years Staff versus Message Board league.

In conclusion, I think my background and the past results that I’ve achieved demonstrate my ability to be an excellent message board team member. I have the time and commitment to put together a great team and objectively comment on the results. Thanks for your consideration.

My gridiron knowledge is quite high

So this challenge I wish to try

And thus on this thread I do apply

I have played this game for many years

Planned many drafts, drank more beers

But why choose me over other peers?

What can I offer that they cannot?

The answer lies in the variety of leagues I have sought

Not in my championships, those we all got.

By playing in so many styles

Has made my adaptability leap by miles

For each draft is unique and only those ready will end end with smiles

So please allow me this honor, I shall traesure it

Make my picks quickly and add in some wit

Finally I must say, If I am chosen....the staff should just quit.

I usually think a lot of you take this hobby way too seriously but I'd like to be considered for the FFTOC portion of this.

Last tear I finished 140th in last year's FBG FFTOC. Not to mention my stellar ranking of 3rd in managing kickers.

I have dominated many names appearing before me in this thread (Gator, Tiger Fan, jplvr, Capella) as the inaugural Cakeboy League champion.

Other message board accomplishments:

1. Russian Bride Draft champion.

2. All-time Cereal Draft champion (tie).

3. Second most combined posts in best hooters and short skirt threads.

I look forward to kicking your asses.

Just to bring everyone up to speed, the message board is 2-0 in this annual competition versus the staff. I am proud to have competed on both winning message board teams with many quality FF players.

The rules have changed this year and for the first time the message board will not be selecting their own team. Whether this is a result of the prior year thrashings is still up for debate.

Due to this change, I'd like to nominate myself for one of the REVIEWER positions. There is no doubt that critiqueing is the best part of this event and the piece that I enjoy the most.

My qualifications are that I have competed and written for the prior two winning teams, I've written a number of articles posted on several FF web sites, and I've competed in the last 3 WCOFF's.

Thank you.

And good luck to all the message board members that make the team.

I'd like to throw my hat in as well...

Points for consideration:

1. I've been an active contributor to both FBGs and Cheatsheets through the years.

2. As a number of you have been in leagues with me in the past, you know that I give a good accounting for myself in the leagues I compete in.

3. I believe I add to leagues I compete in both in how I play in them and by being civil with my leaguemates.

4. I've not yet competed in one of these competitions. I feel this is a plus as I would feel having the same people compete on a yearly basis doesn't add anything new to it.

Thanks for your time.

COACHING SAVVY

Finished 2nd place in Survivor I by (1) TD. A late TD by Todd Heap on a Sunday night dropped me from 1st to 2nd; and this, after losing my first round draft choice early in the season (Deuce McAllister).

WRITING ABILITY

Humorous story for Survivor I on Mike Martz voted #1 by David Shick (does that help or hurt my chances).

ENTHUSIASM

Most posts of all Survivor I board participants last year.

DURABILITY

Wore FBG’s t-shirt to Disney World in the driving rain to promote the website (OK, it was really only a shower and you really can’t figure out the web address from the t-shirt, but it’s the thought that counts and I was prepared for the worst).

TOUGHNESS

Endured a grueling eight hour on-line draft for Survivor I.

TEAM PLAYER

I have never held out at the start of a FFL season and have participated in all of the voluntary FFL training camps. Gladly took the $75 from FBG’s last year without even the first thought of holding out for more money.

"GROVELABILITY"

This cannot be underestimated. I have no problem with groveling when the situation dictates the necessity for this. Say, for some reason, after reading this write-up you still did not deem me worthy of a roster spot; I would be ready and able at a moments notice to fall prostrate and beg without one thought given toward bringing into question my “manhood” or lack thereof.

I believe that I represent many here on the board in that I am a long time member, buy several mags/year, have won Championships being part of four leagues, post regularly, etc... I may not have the resume of board championships that others have, but in the past three years I have moved from SSLIV to SSLIII to SSLII, where I have a strong team picking from the last spot.

It is this past SSL that I feel gives a sense of my play. Picking last, I sought to create dominance wherever I could. I took QBs with 2 of my first 6 picks (Brady, Plummer). Feeling secure at RB (a rarity from 16), I jumped at a chance to dominate, of all things, the kicker position. I took the first TWO kickers (Rackers, Vinatieri). I got some heat for it and I no doubt jumped a round early. The point is that I normally take a conservative approach and take kicker near the end. This time, I was willing to move on the fly and alter my approach.

FBG's likes to do things a little different. Things like putting Tiki, then Bush on the cover. Or suggesting a QB of Harrington and Warner in the last round. Stuff that is looking at quizzingly at first, but is outside the box enough to make all the sense in the world. Honestly, I am probably a borderline pick compared with who is "supposed" to represent, but isn't that what FBG's is all about? ;)

A lurker for years, I surface from FBG anonymity to finally join this board. FFing since before the Internet, I spend more time writing articles for leagues than posting to sites I devour.

I write weekly articles with in-depth commentary for my leagues. Preseason focus is on draft and trade analyses. In-season, articles post prior to lineup deadlines with predictions of who starts, how they finish, and why. Follow-up articles break down what happened, starter by starter, owner by owner, one HTH matchup at a time, and looking at implications of all owner activity on the players, teams, and league. Included in each is a similar report on our survivor and NFL pool pick contests. A student of game theory, I scope the metagame, seeking and revealing games within games.

Outside FF, I just graduated cum laude with a BS in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration, minoring in Economics. A published author of fiction and journalism for 24 years, I grasp words, numbers and broader forces affecting team and league management in fantasy and real life. I crunch data and illuminate it informatively, concisely, and entertainingly.

Sharing ongoing insights with competitors helps level the playing field and improves overall league competitiveness. I’ll play in any of the events, write about it, and enhance the competitive, educational and entertainment experience for all. Include me, please. I’ll reward all with the content I deliver.

Also, I’ll work to minimize staff’s loss of face to another message-board team beatdown. Promise.

:boxing:

Lurking alot and posting effectively - as I always do - this is the way I can help the message board team.

Even though I have played now for 10 years, you always need innovative ways to gain a competitive advantage.

With a background in financial analysis, I dissect all the information one can gasp to constantly try and find the inneficiencies in the FF market.

I can create risk and returns models with any relevant variables, for any player / any league format. Bloom's "buy low / sell high" topic is a good subset of what can be extracted.

The "FF Production by NFL experience" and the second listing in the "NFL Draft - top200 rookie rankings!" threads are good examples of this work.

Or course, I make valid arguments for the conclusions I am drawn to - I can argue (in a constructive manner) with the best of them and I'm humble enough to recognize when things didn't go as planned.

Being a relative newbie to this site, to be chosen would be a tremendous accomplishment but I have no doubts I can help the message board team win.

Regards.

I respectfully decline all nominations. I'm aware I always make the playoffs but,

your ego's couldn't handle getting beat by a 54 year old man with a friggin' webtv.

Thanks but I'll have to take a pass.

Most of the folks in here don't know me yet, which might kill my chances immmediately, but such is life.

Every person requesting entry has experience, and thinks they are great at Fantasy Football. Most probably ARE great in Fantasy Football. I too have the experience (18 years, too many championships to count, 5-12 leagues every year). In a forum with thousands of readers, how does 18 years experience and a couple dozen championship titles REALLY set me apart from any of the other fine FBG's posting in here? PSSSTTT...It doesn't!

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT?

I can teach the game. Every year, I introduce 4 or 5 new people to the game, and teach them how to play.

I can actually write!

I have the added experience of running several different types of leagues (Auction, redraft, etc.)

Thanks for your time, and thanks for giving me consideration. If proof of my writing skills is needed, I can make available every one of the weekly newsletters I set up for one my leagues last year. :)
