message board silence (1 Viewer)

Tumbleweeds and the sound of crickets is all I been experiencing on our league message board for the most part of our season. I have been commissioning our league for 10+ years and this season seems to be apathetic in this regard.

It seems I have to kick start any kind of subject and then some reaction comments trickle in. It's frustrating because I have to come here to get my football feedback. Any one else have this problem ? :wall:

Thank goodness for the FBG shark pool.

Whenever this question comes up I make the same suggestion, so sorry if you've already heard it...but in our league we have various owners committed to weekly features, contributing regular content...this keeps them engaged and is also a good way to spur conversation on a daily basis...

Regular Content

We also have irregular numerical analysis that tend to generate some interesting discussion...

Numerical Analysis

I used to do fake news stories, commentary, trash-talking, the works, but got tired of being the only one. The majority of owners in this league show up once a week, if that, to set their lineups.

And yes, I am planning to leave this league after this year. It's just not fun.

I just do verbal attacks on teams and their owners.

Make fun of who they start week to week, and ridicule them when they leave points on the bench.

I figure if I can get them pissed off enough, then they will at least respond and that usually tends to bring others into the board.

I may not be the most liked guy in the league, but most of the owners know I do it in jest, and are pretty funny with some of the responses.

:bag:

Sometimes people just get busier as the years move on.

A few of guys in my league had babies this past year, got married and have wives around now or are in the process of/just bought houses.

Times change.

Since my league started I always posted crap every week. Kind of like what wheelhouse does with the interesting tidbits. I kind of slacked off the past two years though but this thead made me go post.

This is some long text if you want to read it but if it helps you get ideas for your league, more power to you then. Its what I just got done writing.

Posted on my cbs league site. its a 12 man redraft thats been going on since 2001

If Chad Johnson is ocho cinco then I am dos cuatro ceros. So lets get on with some of the ####ed up stats on the season.

Bunnsters are currently 4-5 & in 3rd in the Coors division. What is shocking about this is he is 2nd in the league in points for at 793 ( hair club with 819 ). It isn't too often that one of the top 3 points leaders in leagues DO NOT make the playoffs.

Peckerwoods took a record I believe this season with not 1 but 2 ties.

Blackened Meat Curtains ( Rafters aka me ) holds the record for most wins against one team. 8-0 vs Bunnsters since the league started way back win. Blitzkrieg is 7-0 vs Bunnsters also.

Top 5 winning % teams over the years?

1. Blitzkrieg: 47-27-1 .633

2. Rafters: 48-30 .615

3. Meatballs: 45-30-2 .597

4. Terror Bytes: 26-21 .533

5. HO: 40-35 .533

Bottom 3 teams

3. Team Fubar: 29-44-2 .400

2. Fumanfox: 26-47-2 .360

1. Levsters: 7-21 .250

Hair Club is averaging 95.5pts in games he wins while his oppenents average just 71.5pts. He has had only 1 team score 85 or more points on him this year and he lost that game 103-94.

Peckerwoods are 12th in the league with points against at 655, 2nd in points for but yet has 2 ties. Good luck or bad luck..can go either way here.

No team has gone winless or undefeated in division play this year.

Now for the most shocking stat of the year...Hornie Orphans and Dark Horse are currently tied for least amount of points scored this season at 648 yet BOTH teams are in 2nd place in their division AND one has a winning record ( dark horse is 5-4 )

Continuing off the above stats. Dark Horse is averaging 82pts in his wins while opponents average just 66.8pts. His season average is only 72pts.

Now Hornie Orphans on the other hand are averaging 82.25pts per game when they win..but that has only been 4 times.

In the past 3 weeks opponents vs Fumanfox have scored an average of 104.3pts per game. He is 1-2 in that span.

==========

WHile taking a dump I took a few sheets I printed out with me and came up with this. In games not won...

A. Team Fubar averages 78.6pts while his opponents average 92pts in those games. 78.6 is #1 ranked for most points per non win...while 92pts for his opponents is #5 ranked.

B. Dark Horse is at the bottom with a whooping 59.5pts per game. His opponents are at #4 with 91.75pts. Thats alot of wasted points on his opponents part.

C. Blitzkrieg 103pts and BMC 100.75pts ( me ) are the only two teams in the league to have their opponents average over 100pts against them. Blitzkrieg is only scoring 64pts in those games ( #10 ) while BMC is at 73.75 ( #5 )

D. Peckerwoods has the least amount of points by his opponents in games he loses at 82.5.

Top 3 avg pts AGAINST per loss: Blitzkrieg 103pts / BMC(me) 100.75pts / Timmy the new guy 93pts. Bottom 3 are Peckerwoods 82.5 / Fingers 87.2 / Fumanfox 87.4

Top 3 avg pts scored per loss: Team Fubar 78.6 / Peckerwoods 75.5 / hair Club 75. Bottom 3 are Dark Horse 59.5 / HO 63.8 / Blitzkrieg 64

Now in games won...

A. 3 teams are averaging over 100pts per win.

B. Bunnsters are at #1 with 103.7pts per win while his opponents are only getting 65.5pts which is the 2nd least amount of points against per win.

C. Terror Bytes are in 12th with only 81.75pts scored per win BUT his opponents are in 1st with the least amount at only 60.25pts per game.

Top 3 avg pts scored per win: Bunnsters 103.7 / Fumanfox 102.5 / Fingers 100. Bottom 3 are Terror Bytes 81.75 / Dark Horse 82 / HO 82.25

Top 3 avg pts LEAST scored against them per win: Terror Bytes 60.25 / Bunnsters 65.5 / Dark Horse 66.8. Bottom 3 are Fumanfox 86 / Fingers 78.5 / Blitzkrieg 78

Almost done here.

A. Bltizkrieg and Timmy the New guy are tied with 2 weeks a piece on the weekly high score.

Blitzkrieg: Week 1 100-88 vs Timmy / Week 6 117-113 vs Team Fubar

Timmy the New Guy: Week 2 103-94 vs Hair Club / Week 9 107-77 vs Terror Bytes

B. Dark Horse holds the season on the weekly LOW score at 3 weeks.

Dark Horse: Week 1 39-75 vs Terror Bytes / 60-101 vs Hair Club / 69-91 vs Blitzkrieg

Done for now. Playoff predictions possibly next week

The message boards of most of my leagues are not busy, but the leagues are still very, very active anyway. I don't see why message board interaction is so important to some people. It's not like there is no interaction at all, it's just not done primarily through the message board.
