Metallica concert (1 Viewer)

Metallica plays Vegas feb 25th.  The two cheapest tickets I see run almost $1,000 for two tickets after fees.  The show is sold out, but that's what I see on Ticketmaster or ebay with the resale tickets.

I have seen them a few times in the past.  My wife has never seen them live, and she is dying to see them and is of course willing to spend the money.  We were discussing taking a trip to get away anyway, but dang, a grand for a show?  Yeesh.

Decisions decisions.

No. Not a chance. Unless you or your wife are in bad health. If it was an older artist on a bucket list I might be tempted to gamble. But the odds are good Metallica plays for a lot of years going forward and shows will be more plentiful. They are good live though.

I saw them a handful of years back. Good show but not worth even half that. I think our tickets were like $70 each. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you decide to go!

you’re going; please post review. Btw: if they don’t spray mist during ‘Fade to Black’, you get your money back.

That price is insanity!  I wouldn't pay that much to see em if Cliff Burton came back from the dead, and joined em on tour!

Are you a big metallica fan?
I mean I listened to them in high school but was never overly impressed.  Like I said I saw them a ton of times as more times then not the opening band was who I liked.  The Cult, Faith no more and candlebox are ones that I recall that were way better then them that day.  I saw the monsters of rock show and that was pretty awesome.

All in all I just think in concert they are gimmicky.  Stupid loud and just playing speed riffs and 1/2 of their songs just sound the same to me.  But again I havent seen them since like 98 or something so it may be different

But overall I am sure I have talked about it on here but my brother worked for TM at the time and I saw hundreds of concerts in my middle school - HS days.  Lots of great bands with great seats.  It definitely destroyed my hearing though

Spend the money.

If there is one thing I have learned as I’ve gotten older is that nothing in life is guaranteed. If you can afford it do it. It will be a great trip and a great memory for you guys.
I agree with if you can afford it do it. If it is a tough decision financially than I would not risk it.

A lot of Vegas tickets for events like that get bought by casinos so they can give them out to their high rollers.  If you have a casino host, it'd be worth a call to see if they can grab you a couple tix for cheaper than $1000.

I've seen Metallica a bunch of times, they are a great live band, i will see them again for sure.

Personally i wouldn't pay that much to see them but you can't put a price on a great experience and if that's how you view it, I wouldn't talk anyone out of it.

I think I would wait it out a bit though and see if either the price comes down or if more tickets get released.  You may need to pay attention to some Metallica forums because members may help to clue in on re-releases.

Metallica has been one of my favorite bands since Ride the Lightning was released.  Yes.  I’m old.  I have seen Metallica a handful of times and the first time was around 86.  They never disappointed.but I would not spend $1000 to see them though.  They will be back within a couple of years.

I highly doubt I will ever have a casino host

Seen em twice and would pay to see them again, but I wouldn't pay a grand a ticket to see Jimi Hendrix if he rose from the grave.
interesting. I couldn't write that check/venmo a grand fast enough to see Jimi.

Saw Metallica at the San Francisco Super Bowl show a few years back when they played at PacBell Park (or whatever it's called now). It was amazing. But I'm not much of a concert guy. Plenty of Dead and Phish shows under my belt, not much more beyond that.

I love seeing Metallica live (one of my favorite shows was them and Godsmack), but that is a lot of money for a show. I might pay that to go back and see them live in the 80s or early 90s, but not sure now. They do have popup shows so it likely isn't their only US show of the year. Watch for them to be a some of the festivals in the summer, can often find tickets for a single night for a $100 or $200 if they're the only ones you want to see. Look at their past tours to see what festivals they often end up at.

Ended up not even going to Vegas,  so I didnt blow 750 or whatever on 2 tickets.

However, wouldnt ya know it, they are playing in Buffalo and Pittsburgh in August, either of which is only a couple hours from me.  I already bought tickets for the buffalo show today when they went on sale.  Average seats I guess, it was about 300 total after all fees and everything.

Now I gotta figure out where to stay in Buffalo (orchard Park, show at the Bills stadium) so we can go out for a bit after the show and stumble back to the hotel.
