Mewelde's Ceiling? (1 Viewer)

Moore has exceeded yardage expectations during both of his two years in the NFL. He has a lot of speed and can catch the ball. He was a standout for three or four years while at Tulane as well. He got into the Tice doghouse for nagging injuries but not deep enough so that he wasnt playing well and making starts ahead of Ceatrick Fason during the season when Bennet was hurt.

So what gives????? What is this guy's ceiling in Brad Childresse's offense???

* Yes, Chester will be given the starting nod. He is one of the most provacative backs going into the season in almost anyone's opinion.

* The MINN O line should be greatly improved wiht addition of stud Steve Hutchinson

* Kleinsasser returns from an injury

* Brad Johnson is not someone the coaching staff wants sitting inthe pocket all day so they will use short yardage passes etc.

I just want some opinions. I think Mewelde could be a value as a #4 back who moves to a big time #3 if Chester gets dinged.

Injuries, in the past, have kept him sprawled on the floor. I do not know if the ceiling is any higher than that if he cannot stay healthy.

If Chester gets dinged, or if Moore flat out beats him for the starting gig (a possibility) he would be a solid #2 RB, in my opinion. Minn should put up some decent numbers this year, so he is worth watching in training camp.

I think he's worth a late round flyer for sure. It's only a matter of time before Chester sees the bench.

The problem is that he has thusfar shown durability issues. However, pretty much any game he starts, he's money for solid FP, so I'd think that he's very worthy of getting late in drafts. Free RB1 production for even 2-3 games in a season is well-worth a 14th round pick.

That would be the best description I could imagine for M Moore.... but then again, any later round RB sleeper would fit that category!

How many late round RB sleepers have averaged well over 100 total yards in their starts?

I actually think Moore presents very nice value. I am not sold on Chester and I would think that Moore would be the type of RB that would fit well in the Childress offense. For where you can draft him he is a nice pick.

I have always pimped Moore, but if your own team doesn't stand behind you, why should we?

Minnesota has had many opportunities to award the starting job to Moore and they haven't. Then they went out and signed someone else to do so and relegated Moore to special teams duty.

Fantasy footballers sometimes need to look at reality more than fantasy, and the Vikings have not shown Moore a lot of love and we should be aware of that.

Not only has Moore been only a FILL-IN starter, in all the other games he's played in he has been almost COMPLETELY ignored.

In 2 seasons, he's had 11 games with double digit carries and was peredominently the primary back. In 15 other games, he totaled 37 carries.

I'm not sure what the new regime has in store for him, but in the past it seems like he was the last guy they wanted to get the ball as long as someone else was healthy enough to go. Remember, THE NEW STAFF went out and signed Taylor.

His ceiling is around what Brian Westbrook has done in Philly, which is even more valid given that Childress will have coached both.

Agreed and even last year when Moore filled in Bennett and did well for whatever reason Tice couldn't wait to get Bennett back on the field. Down the stretch last year I was sure that Moore would be the guy after playing well in weeks 11 and 12. Then Tice comes back and gives Bennett 48 (22, 18, 11, 1, and 6) carries to Moore's 20 (1, 1, 2, 10 and 6). I know Tice is an idiot but the new regime saw the same game film and made a decision to put Moore on special teams and sign Taylor.

This is EXACTLY what im getting at with my post and my 'what gives'.

There is a balance here; Chester taylor is *likely* a great young, tough back that will start and get many carries -- but with a few issues of his own\

M.Moore, despite the odds, and now especially with the Childress system, continues to put himself in the picture. That is documented with his good yardage stats.

So: The fantasy vs. reality **Goes Deeper** than what you state about them signing Chester. The reality on Moore is that he exceeds expectations for yardage and starts. If he continues at his trajectory, he is a fine young RB, if he goes the way you are saying, a pure backup and a useless fantasy player that only shares time with a Fason.

Regardless of what Mike Tice said previously about Mewelde being a candy-### **We dont lknow how much pain he has actually played with**.

Yes, that all is understood. But what is his percieved value as a returner? His return average marks him as one of the best in the NFL but did so on only 21 punts. IMHO, Moore will probably end up averaging around 5 touches a game. He'll be brought in on two back sets and probable will score targets on a 3 reception/1 rush basis. Just my thoughts though. Could present substantial value in deep leagues or ones that award special teams points. Yes Im targeting Chester Taylor also. Whoever carries the load is in for a hell of a season. Which is why Mewelde Moore should be given a chance.

Part of that statement implies that Chester Taylor is a starting-caliber RB.Many people, myself included, don't believe that to be the case.

I don't believe Moore has a Westbrook ceiling either. While I do believe he can and will beat out Chester Taylor, either in camp or in the regular season, I don't believe he will stay healthy for a whole season.

I see bad things in my crystal ball for Minnesota this year. :blackdot:

We might well eventually see Fason as the feature back.

I find the RB management of the Broncos, Ravens, and Vikings pretty interesting this off season. In a twisted sense of logic . . .

Denver thinks Ron Dayne is better than Mike Anderson

Baltimore thinks Mike Anderson is better than Chester Taylor

Baltimore feels the need to even obtain Mike Anderson, so how much faith do they have in Jamal Lewis

Minnesota thinks Taylor is better than Mewelde Moore

So the highest on this food chain seems to be . . . RON DAYNE??? That CAN'T be right, can it?

:goodposting: IMHO, their starting RB is not on the roster yet. Maybe they make a move for one of Tennessee's guys or bring in someone else who gets cut.

Moore will eventually start after CT stinks up the joint but Moore to too fragile to last too long.

It would be funny to watch how CT would perform if they put some donuts in the opponents end zone and see if that motivates his out of shape butt to try and go get them.

Damn, have you ever seen Taylor play???? There's never been one word of him being out of shape in Baltimore, and everytime he plays, he plays hard, hustles, blocks, special teams, does everything you'd ask of him. I'm going to be laughing at post like this in a few months when Chester blows up. I guess the Minn. guys never saw film on CT or talked to anyone who knew him. Wow, they certainly rushed to sign him for no reason. Yeesh.

Yes. Why let the facts get in the way of wild concoctions and speculation?

That's a very twisted sense of logic. One that completely ignores money, potential injuries, contracts, and the salary cap.

Titans | Agent confirms Brown story

Thu, 20 Jul 2006 22:43:56 -0700

John Murphy, of Yahoo Sports, reports Tennessee Titans RB Chris Brown officially has requested the right to seek a trade, according to Brown's representatives from Morgan Advisory Group. Agents Ryan Morgan and Wynn Silberman wrote an official letter and delivered it to the team Monday, July 17. Brown decided his long-term future in Tennessee was in doubt after his agents met with Titans' general manager Floyd Reese. League sources said that Brown's name was mentioned in a variety of possible trades, but Reese had yet to provide Brown or his new representation permission to seek a trade. Teams that could potentially show interest in obtaining the rights to Brown include the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans, with the dark horse team being the Minnesota Vikings.
For the record, I called TO going to Dallas in November last year. Sometimes the tea leaves are too easy to read and too obvious to ignore. Brown will be a Viking. Taylor is Trung Canidate revisited, he might have one more year in the league after this one, but this could be his last.

Seems pretty unlikely unless Minnesota really sours on all of their guys. Considering Seattle and Indy couldn't even garner 2nd round picks for SA and Edge, I think compensation is going to be difficult for the Titans to find.
