but at a glance, and with the complete underestanding that I'm judging her unfairly, reminds me of waaaay too many girls I've known looks-wise.... not in a good way.

Cohen is quite good.

I'm a fan of Elise Trouw.  She is known for her looping projects (she sings and plays multiple instruments), but she is a pretty outstanding drummer (more in the style of Stewart Copeland).
