MFL Waivers on Wednesday, but games on Wednesday (1 Viewer)

Our waivers run on Wednesday, but there are games on that day and our league has a rule that you can’t add players whose games have played, or started. I suppose I could set up a single event for Tuesday to run waivers on a different day and delete the waiver run on Wednesday, but I don’t really want to change anything. Will MFL allow waiver adds during the MFL waiver run of players whose games have played? If you run waivers on Wednesday are you doing anything different?

2 options, move the waivers up a day or run the waivers on Tues for the wed games, then again on Wed for everyone else

That’s an idea, or just run them twice period, noting the 4 teams that play on Wednesday and if you want one of those players, put in a claim on Tuesday.

MFL posted this on every single one of my sites as commish

Week 17 Christmas Day Waivers
We wanted to send you a reminder about the Week #17 Wednesday games ahead of next week. There are 2 NFL Games on Christmas Day -- the NFL's first Wednesday matchups...
  • Chiefs vs Steelers @ 1pm ET
  • Ravens vs Texans @ 4:30pm ET

For playoff contenders, this may mean some last minute waiver moves are needed before kickoff. If your league runs waivers AFTER Wednesday @ 1pm ET for the week, then you might need to edit/add to your scheduled events. Please do NOT change all of your waiver settings to accommodate this special instance, because the settings carry over each season and this change will not be needed in 2025. With that in mind:
If you run Waivers prior to Wednesday @ 1pm ET -- DO NOTHING!!!
If you run Waivers after kickoff on Wed (1pm ET) and want to run them earlier in the day: Just edit the time for your waiver event. Go to the Setup > Transaction Calendar Setup and edit the time of your wavier event.
For Example: If waivers process at 10pm and you wish to process at 2am instead, then click on (Edit) next to the event
Process Waivers Wed Sep 11 2024 10:00 p.m. ET
To instead read:
Process Waivers Wed Sep 11 2024 2:00 a.m. ET
Then after the games on Thursday you can change this back to run at the usual time. We'll send a reminder about changing it back after Christmas.

If you run Daily Waivers and want to add an event on Tuesday, then just add a one time event on the Setup > Transaction Calendar Setup to run a day earlier. Leave all other events intact.
Example: If waivers process daily at 10pm starting on Wed, then add an event on Tuesday
Process Waivers Tue Dec 24 @ 10pm
If you're not sure about any of this, then don't change anything! Should you have any questions, please submit a support ticket in our Help > Help Center.
Good Luck to those still in playoffs and Happy Holidays!

I decided to run waivers on both Tuesday and Wednesday. I posted the following in my leagues.

Since there are Christmas games on Wednesday, we will run a Tuesday waiver run at 9:00 pm ET. Note the 4 teams that play on Wednesday and if you want a player from one of those teams, put in a claim on Tuesday. I don’t think you would be able to add a player from those 4 teams on Wednesday because their game would have already played. We will keep the regular Wednesday run for simplicity sake for the Commissioner (me). All other players are available for both waiver runs also.

One other option I can think of that is probably no better than adding a second waiver wire, If you trust your commish to be honest you could have messages posted just to the commish on the message board and he could manually run the waivers from there. I cant imagine it would be more than 2 or 3 players if you limit it to wednesday games only.

IMO you make this as simple as possible, not more complicated. To me that is either run two waivers, Tues and Wed., or change the time run for Wed.

Its what I would do too but the old school system we used for years instead of the website handling it just busted out of me because its honestly not that big a deal for a small handfull of players. BTW to this day we still handle trades manually through the message board.
