Any one have the scoop on what Miami intends to do with Williams? Are they trying to trade him? Is anyone interested?

I personally hope not, unless somebody out there is willing to trade more than his market value. His salary, combined with his talent, make him very desirable, but teams generally don't give up much for a back with a lot of miles/carries.

alot of talk about him going to Denver , that the broncos are big time interested in Ricky..espn say jaguars.carolina could be another place, they can't be happy with potato chip deshaun foster.maybe SF? norv turner coached him in miami before..

As a Fins fan I hope he doesn't go anywhere. He's very cheap and with him, we have possibly the greatest depth [at a very important position] in all of football..

I think one hit away from a year-long suspension, coupled with him quitting on his team, weighs more heavily than the miles/carries.

he's going to land a nice contract with a team somewhere. He's got 4-5 pro level years left in him easy.Denver if they get Ricky Williams and TO? Yikes.

I really can't see the Dolphins moving him unless they get a 1st or 2nd round pick in return for him. If somehow there are a few team interested and a bidding war ensues then I could see the Dolpphins getting that 1st day pick. His salary for the next 2 years is what makes him attractive to other teams. Last year Alexander & Edge could have been had for a 2nd or 3rd rd pick but they make a TON of money compared to Ricky.Ricky will soon be 29 and has at best 3 years left in him. He's also one positive drug test away from a year long suspension. The thought of him runnig behind that Denver Oline is nice though. Denver does have 2 1st rd draft picks if I'm not mistaken and they also recently spent a 3rd on Maurice Clarett. Who knows?

RB is not an all important position IMO-One of the easiest positions to learn

-One of the easiest positions to replace

-And a position that depends heavily on the type of skill they have around them

Add this to the fact that Mularkey likes to use multiple backs and I see ricky in the agua and orange for a while

Money might not be all that important to Williams but he has an agent who is both greedy and smart. Its foolish to think he wont renegotiate a new deal. He might have looked cheap under contract last year but I'm sure the lawsuit settlement had a lot to do with that. Did the Phins not take a big cap hit when he retired? Did they not sue Ricky for a huge portion of his previous signing bonus? Didnt Ricky take a pay cut to come back? I dont have all those details but thats what I seem to remember. If so, by coming back and playing cheap for a year he's freed himself from his past liability and can now play for new money. He's still one of the best RBs in the league. His age, off-field issues, and lack of monetary concern will make him affordable for his talent level but his salary wont be a cheap hit against the cap. He's not going to play under his current contract folks.Anyway, if he does get traded, he's a top 5 fantasy pick next year. Jags like big backs and Ricky is the best big back in the league. Carolina is also in the lookout for a big horse. He'd be a monster in Denver although Bell would likely spell him. A situation that probably is attractive to Williams as he's stated too many carries as part of the decision to retire. Not to mention a realistic chance at the superbowl. If those are indeed the teams he's talking to then it sounds like he wants to play for a contender. Heck, if Miami signs a real veteran QB they might just be a contender.

It strikes me funny how every Dolphin fan hopes RW stays. it doesn't seem that long ago that he was the most hated Dolphin in recent history. Using a top pick for a RB just to get your featured RB to return from the Lenny Kravitz tour made some folks very angry. I wouldn't trade him if I'm Miami, still a productive strong back helping a rookie back learn the offense and his job.

I think the most anybody knows is that Nick Saban will listen to offers but won't move him just to move him. My guess is that something between a second and third round pick would be required to get him.As a Dolphins fan, I'd love to see some sort of Ricky for Tatum Bell and a second day pick deal worked out. I think Bell would be an ideal change of pace back from Ronnie Brown.

Tatum Bell- :X

I'm a Dolphins fan, and I hope Ricky does get traded to the highest bidder. We have alot of holes to fill and with the money were paying Ronnie Brown he doesnt need to be sitting on the sideline.

Anyway, if he does get traded, he's a top 5 fantasy pick next year.
And what would that make Ronnie?
If the Phins dont bring in another name it would put him in the back of the top ten or beginning of the teens depending on where other guys end up and who the QB is. They might bring in another quality guy though as Brown has a limited history as a featured back. I like him but he has a lot to prove as does the team.
