Maurice Hicks-RB- 49ers Mar. 6 - 12:37 pm et

The Dolphins have reportedly expressed interest in 49ers running back/returner Maurice Hicks, a restricted free agent.

Hicks was surprisingly only given the low tender, leaving him susceptible to being signed to an offer sheet. Tennessee may also have interest.

Hmm. Would that leave Michael Robinson as the backup in SF?

I believe he was used returning kicks; if you get points for return yards and he gets a handful of snaps on top of that than he might be a viable (low-end) bye week starter. With Welker gone they might be targeting him primarily as a return guy.

I hear Ted Ginn Jr. is also a pretty good kick returner....

Eh. They can have Hicks. As for this development, I am more interested in what this means for Ricky Williams.

Hicks will be used as a special teamer and return man and thats it. If they do sign him he will be 3rd on the depth chart. The intrest in Hicks is because of the loss of Welker.

My thoughts exactly. It's possible they are only interested in him for special teams but when there is a pick involved I start thinking they want him for a back-up as well. He has been pretty effective in his limited role in San Fran.

No pick is invloved that was earlier reported. He was tendered the lowest you can(850,000) and all it gives S.F is the right to match and retain his services.

As long as he isn't returning kicks for Miami this Phin fan will be happy.
