Miami Offense WTF? (1 Viewer)

During the Miami-Saints game Gruden pointed out that Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline don't take part in the huddle before the play. Instead they go straight to their spot and get the play called in to them from the sideline.

He also noted that both receivers generally line up on the side of the field on every play.

Is anyone aware of other teams that run their offense this way? It seems like a recipe for a stagnant and predictable passing game, not to mention a terrible way to get a quarterback and his receivers in sync.

I've seen this done in college, but can't say I've seen a NFL team do it recently. I believe Indy did it on occasion when they had Harrison and Wayne. That was years ago.

I was also noticing that and wondering what that was all about.

Tannehill sure moves around a lot at the line of scrimmage.
