Michael Gaines, TE Lions, why the love ? (1 Viewer)

Seems like a very odd choice to have rated 8th on the cheat sheets. I went in to look at some bye week fillers for Cooley and saw this guy and can honestly say I hadn't even heard of him. He had a decent game last week but has no TD's, is Jax known to be bad against TE's ?

Gaines is OK, he's been the starter all year. He had a crucial fumble at the end of the game when the Lions had some time on the clock aorund mid field.

I'm not sure why the love, he's nothing special, my guess is he'll slip down the rankings after they're tweaked.

I was on the phone with my buddy the other day and the topic of Gaines came up. I asked him who he thought was the best Lions TE in the last 25 years and we both couldn't come up with anyone we thought deserves that title alone.

It's absolutely amazing at the garbage the Lions have put at TE as far as receiving skills the last 20 to 30 years.

I don't recall the Lions ever utilizing the TE position as an offensive weapon, regardless of coach/GM.

Did some digging, here are the top 10 Lions TE fantasy totals:

It's been a TE fantasy wasteland in Detroit since David Sloan, and even he was mediocre.
