The announcement will come tomorrow.

Irvin will work the Sunday morning pre-game show,NFL GameDay Morning, which starts at 8am. That makes it a four-hour show. The cast includes Irvin, Marshall Faulk, Deion Sanders, Warren Sapp and Steve Mariucci.

Irvin and Sanders return at 6:30 pm for the post-game, GameDay Highlights, hosted by Rich Eisen.

Yes, he'll continue to work his ESPN 103.3 radio show.

Without a doubt his radio show is one of the worst 'sport talk' shows I have ever heard.

 
irvin/sanders......double the reason not to watch.

it will be funny to watch and see which one can talked the loudest.

He's solid in small doses. He's a relatively smart guy who knows football, and that comes out in the short segments. But a long show usually results in him devolving into annoying Schtick pretty quickly, and staying there.

I do too. Hard for me as a Redskins fa, but he is good. While I'm at it I may as well admit Aikman is the best color guy in the business. Emmit, Deon, and Johnston suck so much it makes up for it though. Too bad I can't watch the NFL Network show. My TV isn't big enough for Sapp's ego. It is only a 63 inch TV. He has to be the worst person on all of television not signed to Fox News :coffee:
 
Another reason as to why I think the NFLN sucks.

One man's personal opinion, pay it no mind since it costs you nothing.

 
I actually think Sanders and Irvin together are one of the best pairings on TV.

They both know their stuff and are very entertaining.

 
While loud and abrasive, I came to like Deion. He knows what he's talking about, and doesn't go overboard with the homerisms. Irvin is way too biased to know if what he's saying is true or his hopes. That and he's actually louder than Sanders. :goodposting:

 
I'm probably in the minority here but I don't watch any NFL pregame shows anymore. I used to watch NFL Sunday Countdown on ESPN, followed by 2 games on NFL Sunday Ticket, then the Sunday Night Football game, and then the NFL game day highlights on NFL Network. Thats almost a solid 12 hours straight of television. I found that becoming too much, so I dropped the pregame shows and only occassionally watch the highlights show afterwards. The morning games start at 10am here on the West Coast, so my 2 hours before game time consist of getting breakfast, setting my fantasy football lineups, and reading the FootballGuys Sunday morning updates.

 
It's a shame because I think Rich Eisen is one of the best and he is the anchor for that network. It seems they are going for over the top and trying to tap into the 18-40 crowd pretty hard. Irvin, Sapp, Faulk, those are guys that younger folks are going to identify with.

I like some of the ESPN crew but I hate Berman...but when Mike Ditka speaks...its not always great but he tends to know WTH is going on...also like Tom Jackson the past couple years now that he isn't just sitting beside Berman doing the NFL recap show...I think he is pretty solid on the pregame.

Carter and Johnson though are just too much WR for me and Steve Young doesn't do much for me either.

While we are talking about all this I have to say that in general I don't watch much pregame anymore...I come to FBG for player updates the day of and then I am either out the door to go to the stadium or hit a bar for the afternoon.

Rich Eisen stinks but hey to each his own right. I'm with you on no pre-game shows they are all pretty much worthless but it helps pass the time I guess. It will be entertaining watching Deion and Irvin try to out dress each other every week.

I'm the same way. Since I got a DVR, I pretty much never watch pregame, postgame, or halftime shows, or any other talking head shows. It may be (and probably is) that all of these guys we're talking about know football and would be interesting to watch if the show format wasn't so tired. It's just boring obviousisms mixed in with forced point/counterpoint stuff, and the format dictates that. What insight is Mariucci going to have when they call him moments after the news breaks that Jon Gruden's been fired as they call him on his car phone? None: "all I know is he's a heckuva coach, Rich."And while I'm on my soapbox, what good is a show on the top 10 returnmen of all time if I get like 60 shots of guys dancing in the endzone and 0 actual returns shown from beginning to end?!

In a sport domnated by african american superstars it is still amazing that their knowledge of the game works for TV executives , but front office jobs on teams that they helped make millions for are not offered to these guys. Sapp doing PR and D-line work in Tampa would make perfect sense. Faulk could probably do wonders in St. Louis, but nothing from the Rams? I suppose Jerry Jones wanted to distance himself from Irvins off field history, but Deion, I hate the Cowboys and 49ers, but he was and still is the best to ever play his position. You just didnt throw the ball on his half of the field! There has to be some value in his knowldge of the NFL secondary.I would think these guys would love to be back around the teams, the players and on the sidelines come gametime.

I think one reason is that these superstars made so much money as superstars that there's not much incentive to put in the kind of hours coaches and execs work at their pay rate. IIRC Faulk has said something like this when it's been suggested he could be a coach or GM or something.
 
Why any type of love for Irvin? All the guy is, is LOUD. Sanders is brutal. They try too hard to talk in ghetto lingo on the show. I loved the pieces with Sanders coaching the little kids, and the Prime U thing he did back in the draft, but he's a brutal co-host.

i understand people have preferences on hosts/analysts/broadcasters, etc....

so what about Irvin is bad? other than he's LOUD.

i'm just curious. is it carryover from his playing days? Non-Cowboys fans just hatin Irvin? he keeps things interesting, imo.

personally, i dont want a guy with say, Collinsworth or Jaw's personality. football is sposed to exciting! i like guys like Madden, Gruden, Irvin, Berman.
